Stanford deserved to lose that game because they played the last drive in regulation like an NFL team would. They should have gone for the endzone and kicked a FG only as a last resort, especially since they have a freshman placekicker.

I was actually rooting for OSU's kicker to miss that chip shot at the end just to teach Gundy the lesson he should have learned a few minutes before.

Very entertaining game, though.

I know I said I enjoy a good missed field goal, but that ending was so eerily familiar that it was a bit difficult to watch.

For those that didn't watch the Boise State at Nevada game two years ago (the loss that cost us the opportunity to destroy Wisconsin in the Rose), that is almost exactly what happened to us. We had much less time at the end, though. I think under a minute instead of 2:34. But a missed chip shot at the end of regulation, and a missed chip shot in OT.

Yeah, I think I'm definitely going to be sick...

Oh, and I will be proudly sporting my Blue and Orange tomorrow at the office. I do on every game day. I thought it would be fitting being as tomorrow should have been game day for us.

And I will NOT be watching that worthless matchup. ****** you, Sugar Bowl.

It was an entertaining game between two mediocre teams in front of a 2/3-full stadium. I almost forgot I wasn't watching the New Orleans Bowl.

The announced attendance of the Sugar Bowl was 12k less than capacity. Actual attendance was likely closer to 20k below capacity. Neither of those teams belonged in a "major" bowl and their fans knew it.

Still...entertaining outcome. About what you'd expect from a Dec 27ish bowl game.

agreed. way too many bowls these days.

That was ugly... If I remember correctly, the announcers said that was one of the highest scoring bowl games in history.

Yeah, Sports Center said this morning that it broke the previous bowl record of 67, set by...Baylor, in the Alamo Bowl this year. Ugh.

And, once again, the ACC proves what a fraud they are as a BCS conference. They finally get two teams in BCS games for the first time, and both teams fail miserably. At least VT kept things close.

I have to admit I was a bit surprised at the Sugar Bowl crowd. I mean, VT has a history of not traveling well, but I figured Michigan would pack the place. They had a pretty decent crowd when we played them last season in the Gator Bowl, and that was after a 6-6 season. I also wonder if Boise would have brought more fans. If Wikipedia is correct, even we have a larger enrollment than BSU. How many people did they bring to the Fiesta a few years ago?

Dude you are extremely cocky.

Your team was 7-6. 4-5 in the Big 12 (arguably the Big 12's worst lineup of teams in a long while).

Your beloved Meineke Bowl only had an attendance of 4,000 more than the Sugar Bowl (sponsored by Allstate). You no where close to destroyed Northwestern and you guys are headed into the SEC after leaving the Big 12 with the record you had in, as I mentioned, one the worst Big 12 team lineups ever.

Get off your high horse.

No kidding. Think about that: a third tier bowl game drew more fans than one of the supposedly premier bowls. Granted, according to this USA Today article, attendance is down almost across the board, but that is sad. It's happened a few times in the past - any time there is no SEC team in the Sugar Bowl, attendance drops. I find it amusing that our game vs. Michigan last year drew more people that powerhouses Florida and Ohio State, especially since it's essentially a home game for Florida.

Personally, I would rather have seen LSU-OK State in the BCS title game, and Bama - Boise in the Sugar.

Nice win for the Hogs.

K-State is such an enigma. There is absolutely no reason they should be any good at all, but they were in every game all year (minus one) and really pushed a damned good Arkansas team tonight.

Anyone been following the mass exodus that's going on at Wisconsin?

Paul Chryst (offensive coordinator) - gone
Bob Bostad (offensive line coach) - gone
DelVaughn Alexander (wide receiver coach) - gone
Dave Huxtable (linebackers coach) - gone
Joe Rudolph (tight end coach) - gone
Russell Wilson (star QB, higher QB rating than RGIII) - gone
Peter Konz (star center lineman) - gone

And on top of it all, the 4 star QB recruit Bart Houston who made a verbal commitment to Wisconsin is rumored to be considering reopening his recruiting. I can't blame him since almost every single offensive coach he thought he was coming to is leaving.

Silver lining - we still have Montee Ball. But damn...Bielema has his work cut out for him.

Looks like they succeeded. Bummer for the Dawgs, but as a disinterested third party, it was fun game to watch!
We were there, gf's fam had awesome seats few rows behind the post. She went to MI State as well as most of her fam, my cousins are Dawgz though.... lot's of **** talking :D . But that was an excellent game, I thought we were going to get creamed at first after screwing up a few plays, but came back strong.

This perfectly illustrates why tomorrow night's exhibition might be fun to watch, but ultimately is utterly meaningless:

LSU has already beaten the Rose Bowl champs, the Orange Bowl champs, the Cotton Bowl champs, Alabama in Tuscaloosa and Georgia in Atlanta.

If the stupid system we have doesn't want to pit the winner of a the Fiesta Bowl against LSU, then the Tigers have already done enough to win the "national championship". Without a playoff, beating Alabama for the second time shouldn't even be in the conversation.

LSU wins by a lot this time around...

Texans won, Steeler Nation lost and now if only LSU can get beat it'll be a GREAT weekend.

I will predict this though. If LSU loses, their fans will moan and whine about they already beat Alabama yada yada... if they win then we have to hear their fans blab on about how they are the best team ever.

It's about to be real annoying.
