Think you mean, Auburn and not OU.

I mean OU. They barely beat Utah St last year.

(For the record, A&M almost blew a 38-17 4th Q lead against the Utah Aggies back in 2009, holding on to win 38-30. But we were a 6-7 team that year, not one ranked #1.)

So does texas. You'll see when you come into the PAC...:D

The spin machine in Austin is now claiming the Horns are talking to the ACC rather than the Pac-12. Probably dmr727's worst nightmare.

Ha! Although hell, I'm not convinced we have much of a shot against UCLA in a couple of weeks. We don't seem to play well against Pac-10 opponents.

Unless they're USC. ;)

Yep!

That actually makes sense. As bad as the ACC has been lately, even that UT team from last year would have won 8 games or so.

That's why it's my worst nightmare. I want to see a competitive team, but only if it's against competitive competition. I'll take five losses against a good schedule over undefeated against one or two good teams and a bunch of nobodies. Even if that nets us the mythical national title.

In other words, the Boise State/TCU method, eh? :D

Heh.. You say that as though it's our choice. Talk to your University presidents, make them invite us to the mighty SEC, and then we'll talk. ;)

Contrary to what some demoralized Georgia fans might argue, Boise State is a "great" team. We'll be at least #4 in the country tomorrow. A "good" team wouldn't have a top-5 ranking.

It's amazing. Even when we travel thousands of miles and play in the SEC's back yard, there's still no respect. Always an excuse. Was the same way when Utah destroyed 'Bama in the Sugar Bowl.

Oh well. I'll let y'all live in your fantasy world with your blinders on. :)

boise is good, but not great. if they played in a tough division and got knocked around every week they wouldnt be a ranked team. they're overrated in relation to their very weak schedule.

I think Boise St. is a great team.

The key word there is "think." They haven't paid the same dues many other great teams - Oklahoma, USC, Texas, Florida State, and others - have paid for years and years. The bulk of Boise's competition has been the WAC, and coming soon the Mountain Leftovers, so while I can watch them play and "think" they're great, it's difficult for me to say I "know" they're great.

I haven't looked at your schedule but until you play some other big name teams (not the teams fault due to the league they are in etc) there is always going to be this doubt that is cast over them.

I for one am glad you beat the dawgs! :D:D:D:D

I am anxiously awaiting the Utah USC game this Saturday. After their first games, each team left a lot of questions. Will Barkley have anyone to throw to besides Woods? Which team will have a better showing at offensive line (in other words, which team will suck less?) Can Wynn get his head in the game and be the QB we saw against Cal, Iowa St, or SDSU? Or is the nervous of being hit conservative Wynn going to show up?

I would be lying if I said that Utah's performance against Montana State was what I was hoping for. With that said, USC didn't look that great either. Now that first game jitters are out of the way, who take the first game in conference play?

As always, I am rooting for my Utes and I think they can pull out the big W, but I am not overly confident by any means.

It's great to have football season back!

No a great team is like the 95 Huskers, 99 Seminoles, 01 Canes, 04 Trojans

A top 5 ranking is for good teams. Great teams are those talked about years after the fact

Me too. I'm still working out the details, but I should be going.

Do we need to? Robert Woods is the man, but yes, we need some more balanced offense. We'll have full use of our five-star running backs Marc Tyler and Dillon Baxter this Saturday, so that will be nice. DJ Morgan, our RB we used last week, is blindingly fast but wasn't too impressive. Marc and Dillon should give us a good package of strength and shiftiness.

It should be a good game. I thought we were going to roll over Minnesota in the first half but we didn't score in the second.

You're kidding, right? Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but unless you're joking you might need to have your head checked...

Semantics. I'd call those teams Legendary. In my opinion there are Great, Good, Bad and Terrible teams every year.

I realize there are thousands of fans that will never give Boise State the respect they've earned, and that's okay.

I'll just go by what one of the best players in the SEC said about Boise State.

They’re just as good as any SEC team.

And there is the Boise talk that makes me wish they lose every week. I don't understand how being a top ranked team for the past few years, getting some of the biggest games of the season, countless articles on ESPN, always in the NC discussion, etc. is still "no respect". I'm not sure what else the NCAA or fans of any other school can do to make Boise happy except just give them an NC trophy for being Boise.

I watched Boise squeak out a win last year against us (VT). I watched VT lose to JMU and embarrassed by Standford. I watched you guys win the games you were supposed to and then lose. Just like any other great team in the league you'll have fans that don't like you. Just enough with the "we don't get no respect" argument.

------------

Didn't mean to sound so ranty in the post - the Boise argument gets me all fired up.

evilgeek, your short term memory loss is mindboggling :p you remember the Nevada loss last year???? They beat ONE over-rated SEC team and all of a sudden they're beating top-ranked teams every week???

I mean, I'm glad you guys beat georgia, good for you man you deserve that win. But beat some teams that aren't coming off very bad seasons ie. are rebuilding, and do it 6-8 times per season for a few seasons in a row and I might reconsider my opinion of them. At this point I just think they're taking up space at the top of the rankings without really doing anything to deserve it yet

No, you're absolutely right. I was being too general with my comments. I'm talking mostly to those that only see Boise State as someone who beats up Little Sisters of the Poor, and not as an elite such as might be found in the Mighty SEC.

Our program has grown tremendously over the last five years, and it's been an awesome ride. It's just frustrating when all we can do is win as many games as possible, and still not given any real chance at the end of the year. Boise State (or any non-AQ) in the BCS Championship Game will never happen. It's quite frustrating as a fan.

Oh, believe me, I remember that game quite well. It still stings thinking about it. I knew that was a trap game from the minute it was on the schedule. Let's not forget Nevada was a good (not great) team that was, I believe ranked #16 in the polls. But, more importantly, that game was the culmination of four years of frustration for the Wolf Pack. Bottom line is Nevada had more passion in that game, and came out with a win that cost us the Rose Bowl.

I just think it's kinda funny that you're using a one game per season loss to counter my one game per season win argument.. ;)

evilgeek.....you gonna make the trek up to Fort Collins to watch my rammies beat you guys? :p

As a matter of fact, it might happen! My buddies and I are trying to organize a couple trips to Ft. Collins and to Vegas. I'll let you know if we're able to swing it!

I (personally) don't think it's fair to say you'll never be in the NC - but a Boise that loses to Nevada at the end of the year won't be. I think you guys are a great team, but I don't think you're the best. At least in the past few years you guys do a great job beating the teams you're supposed to, getting by in close games against top teams, and tripping up against good teams just like any great team can. Just like any other #3, #4, #5 team all you can do is win your games and hope that #1 or #2 lose.

Congrats on your win against Georgia though - you guys looked great. At least the Hokies made it a close game last year!

I'm excited for how the Hokies looked on Saturday. First time in a while we opened up against a non top 5 team. Did exactly what we were supposed to do, which hasn't happened for a few years.

Well, it looks like Ignatius finally got his wish. Texas A&M gets the official invite to the SEC.

That article also mentions negotiations with West Virginia and Missouri as the 14th member. I sincerely hope it's not WVU. All these years, I thought I would never see a school with worse fans than LSU...until we played WVU twice. Wow, they make LSU fans seem calm and laid back.

My two cents: Boise looks like a very good team again this season, as they have been for a number of years now. They've had some great seasons, but to be considered an elite program you have to go undefeated against the sort of schedule the Broncos play. Losing even one game (ala Nevada last year) knocks them from the perch of truly great programs because they just don't have enough games against great competition to ever get over that hump.

Of course it's not the team's fault, and the school tried to get into a better league only to have it dissolve underneath them. I think the best-case scenario for BSU is for UTex to refuse to give up the LHN, which will make every conference ignore them when it comes to expansion and force their independence hand a little earlier than they wanted. That leaves two open slots in the Pac-16, assuming OU and Okie Light head West and the conference wants to go to 16. Boise would be a natural fit in the Western Division (sorry, gEEk, but i think you have to at least be NEAR the southeast to get an invite into the SEC), and don't some of BSU's sports play in the PAC already?

Rumor has it that a big press conference event is being put together right now for tomorrow night. Hop has been on top of this from the get-go (which is odd because he's usually wrong about everything) but I'll start celebrating in earnest when Mike Slive and R. Bowen "Bowtie" Loftin share a stage together.

As for the WVU thing, a lot of SEC East folks seem to think it would be a horrible move. I'm lukewarm on them because I really don't know much about the people, but I've had my hopes up for VT being the 14th for a while. That doesn't appear to be in the cards.

So, the Big 12 is dead, right? I don't think OU is too far behind. Where do the rest of the schools go? I kind of think Texas has alienated themselves. Would the PAC still want them, or could they go independent?

Very interesting!
