Film & glare

Does anyone know of a Film that you can put on the screen to kill the glare?
Easy put on when you need it & off when you don't...
Bob

Now that some MBPs have 750GB as standard, I would expect 1.5TB or 2TB in higher-end models. 3TB option should also be included if 1.5TB or 2TB is used in stock config.

See my edit in the post above.

Ooooo 3TB /drools:D
(Going to be upgrading from my Quicksilver 2001 G4 with a "tiny" 120 GB & 60GB HD and my hand me PC down with a 160 GB)

Me Too my $2000 check (limit) is itching to be spent!

Same .. But I shall wait till about July when the iMacs will start shipping with lion preinstalled ... Hope it happens earlier .. Anyway I would wait for that ... Also the little hardware / software issues if any would be sorted out by then ...

Why in the world would you want to wait until Lion comes preinstalled? It'll probably be next-to-nothing to upgrade from SL to Lion (Leopard to SL was only $29) and upgrading couldn't be easier. I'm running the Lion Developer's Preview on a secondary boot drive and it was trivial to use Migration Assistant to move my SL settings and apps to a clean Lion installation.

Besides, aside from a few whiz-bang features, Lion's not all that different than SL...not enough to wait for it, anyway (JMHO, of course).

I doubt its going to be $29 again, unless it's deployed through the App store, then maybe.

But SL was mainly under the hood changes. Lion is looking to have some major visual and functional enhancements (at least more noticeable than Leopard > SL) that would seem like enough to go back to more traditional costs of upgrading.

That said, I hope I'm wrong and you're right :)

I ain't waiting an additionally 2-3 months just to save a few extra bux on the OS.

I want my iMac now so I can play some Portal 2 :p (sitting on a new but "crappy" mini laptop)

I'll post this again just in case someone hasn't seen this yet. Some of that is starting to be old info now but the edits should summarize the new stuff. I would expect update in May.

Why is there a "S" - Low-power processors in your list? TDP limit?

Why is there a "S" - Low-power processors in your list? TDP limit?

Yes. 95W CPUs are too hot for 21.5", thus Apple will most likely use S-series CPUs in 21.5" due to their 65W TDP. They cost a bit more and feature a lower clock speed but have very, very aggressive Turbo. Definitely worth it for 21.5" though.

Why not 3.3GHz dual-core Core i3-2120 as the 21.5-inch: 3.20GHz dual-core Core i3-550 replacement. 65W & cheaper?

I would expect quad core in high-end 21.5" because all real MacBook Pros (i.e. 15" and 17") use quad core CPUs. While the quads cost more, they are not that expensive. Apple added them to MBPs even though the price as higher for them too. It would be a tad ridiculous if 1799$ MBP had quad core but 1499$ iMac didn't.

Moreover, high-end 21.5" and low-end 27" have used similar CPUs in the past and it's pretty sure that low-end 27" will get quad too (come on, 1799$ MBP would be quad but you would have to pay 1999$ for iMac to get quad).

Quad will at least be a BTO in 21.5", although I would expect it to be standard in high-end.

I hope your prediction pans out. It has the Core i7-2600 as a non-BTO option. :)

Umm... Who is going to download 6-7 GB from the App store?
There are MANY people who only have 1.5 to 5 Mb DSL/Cable?
I can drive to the Apple store and back and still have my day rather then tying up my Internet connection for 5Hrs+

Apple seems to be dropping the prices of all their software, so I believe Lion will be priced between $49.99-$99.99.

There are many differing connections though. Some people download WoW, and with three expansions out that's surely more than 6-7 GB.

Leave it overnight. Though I believe it will be distributed through both channels, MAS and as a physical copy.

They will star building in tv tuners too. That would really make it the ultimate bedroom/dorm room computer. I wouldn't mind myself watching a show in the corner while working on something boring for work.

Doubtful. There are 3rd party gadgets that let you do this. In the end, the amount of people who do this isn't that big.

Not yet. When Apple releases such an iMac it may become bigger. As a somewhat forced comparison, the amount of people that were using a tablet PC wasn't that big either a year and a half ago. When it was released, alot of people would say "yeah well people don't really need it and I don't see the use in buying it". The rest is history.

I actually find it plausible, though not at the upcoming refresh, that Apple would move towards having their iMac suit as a PC AND a TV. It's already quite possible to use it as your radio/CD player (for those among us that still use CD's), so it could become all the home entertainment you need. Aside from speakers obviously. Plus for some people 27" just isn't enough

You can't mess it up with software. If you screw up somewhere, you can always reinstall the OS, which is very simple actually. Snow Leopard and Lion will be very similar so when you learn SL, you will know how to use Lion. It's not like going from Windows to OS X.

HellHammer has a point, all the upgrades I went through I was kinda like, meh no change. But if you look back there were changes, but baby steps not leaps.

Someone at Apple is probably reading this thread and having a good laugh or two, doing their own speculation as to what will be on the 2011 iMac. LOL

Whats everyones opinions on dates for the refresh then?
i know most people are saying the 26th or the 3rd but id like some explanations ;)
