So I'm split 50/50. Could be worse I suppose. I talked with Apple today about it for a while, both of the reps were unaware of this issue. The last guy (who was a manager or something) said they would be happy to send me one with the Samsung SSD if they had a way of knowing which boxes had which SSD. Otherwise he said performance should be the same, obviously we do not think this is true.

Anyone use Xbench that has a SM128C?

Here are my results

I have the 1.6, 11.6", 4G, 128GB.

SSD: SM128C

I believe that equals LG and Samsung.

This thread is pointless.

There isn't much difference in the SSD or LCD panel worth bothering about. I had the original Apple branded Samsung SSD and it was crazy fast but 'slow' compared to today standards. A ~10% difference in a benchmark for a fast SSD is pretty irrelevant.

Trying to determine if your LCD isn't quite as good as someone else's means your display is fine. If you have a dud, you will most certainly know. If your colours look 'off,' calibrate your display. I happen to have the LG and after calibrating by eye, it's now much more appealing than the default with better contrast and saturation. The fact is, these are not premium displays but for TN panels, they are about as good as it gets.

Quit being paranoid and enjoy your new machine.

Just got my i5:

- LTH133BT01A03
- SM256C

As far as I have gathered, I've struck pretty much gold?

13" base model (French version, in case that matters):
  • SM128C
  • LTH133BT01A03
Both Samsung, got lucky .

Had to exchange my mba 13'' for a screen issue. Had a samsung screen and Toshiba hard drive.

Now I got both Samsung. :D

How are people doing exchanges? Is it even worth the hassle to exchange a MBA 11 i5, 4gb, 128gb SSD (Toshiba SSD, LG Display), and hope to get another one that has Samsung SSD and/or Display? Aren't SSD about the access speed and not sequential read/write?
