i've gotten 2 11" 4GB 128SSD's from BB - both had all Samsung components

on another note:

how is everyone's vertical viewing angle? i managed to test out both Samsung and LG panels at the 5th Ave & SoHo NY Apple stores, and when you have the panel tilted back (away from you).. there's that negative effect going on. both 11" MBA's i have show this as well.. it's fine from side to side and when tilted towards you.. but when tilted back.. looking from the bottom, it gets pretty bad color distortion. again.. i've tested this with a bunch of MBA's with Samsung and LG panels and they show the same results

I've been hearing positive results from Best Buy stores and considering they got much later shipments of the Airs I think there is a trend.

Also that negative effect when tilting the screen that way is more or less normal.

Just got my MBA 13" from Futureshop in Canada...and!!

Got a Samsung :D :

SM128C is my model number. Can't find where the screen model is, i am a Mac newbie.

Whew, it is nice not to have to worry about that.

Is it possible to identify whether the machine has a samsung ssd or display Before purchase? For example, can certain characters in the serial number be used as a indicator?

I got a Samsung! I'm so pleased being in the knowledge that my SSD is somewhat faster than the hapless Toshiba in a benchmark!

To celebrate, I shall download the Internet.

Move to the US.

Both drives are still very fast and there is no way you can really see the difference. Just enjoy your new MBA.

Thanks.that makes me feel better :D
I hope I could get to US but unfortunately I currently can't.
I'm going with the 13" i5/256GB model

I suspected I had the Sammy SSD because my rig is absolutely FLYING. I'm very impressed with my display so I'm happy to see my eyes weren't placeboing on me. :D

Yeah was just joking about moving to the US. The price differencing are crazy sometimes though. If I had Yen I'd go to Japan to buy.

Well I bought a 13" Air (4GB/128) from Best Buy. Samsung SSD/LG display. :roll eyes: So I took it back and got another one. Guess what?

Samsung SSD with LG display.:roll eyes:

Oh well. I'm not doing it a 3rd time.

Best response to this SSD debate I've seen yet.

I am a bit confused about one thing. I've got the Samsung SSD which is acknowledged to be an order of microtude faster that the Toshiba SSD, but I can still only type at 22 wpm.

See the very first post in this thread, about 4/5ths of the way down.

Thanks for the info John B, and thanks for being considerate too. Stupid mistake on my part, nice of you not to point it out. :) Appreciate it.

Here is my screen info:

LP133WP1-TJA3
and
Samsung SSD

BTW I have a MBA 13 - i5.
