I really don't see why this is an issue for so many people here. The SSD situation was the same with the 2010s, and while there was some angst that some buyers got the Samsung (it started with the 128GB 11" around January), I don't recall the "parts lottery" going into full gear. That said, I DO recall people noticing the different displays on the 2010s and trying the exchange lottery.

For the record, I have the Samsung SSD and LG display. My 2010 11" had a Toshiba SSD and an LG display, and I briefly had a 13" 2010 with a Samsung display. All were fine as far as I'm concerned.

It's funny as hell that there are so many people who think they'll be getting a vastly improved user experience just for having a Samsung display and/or SSD and agonizing over it when they don't get it. Most will probably upgrade in a year anyway.

Hi,

I just got a 13" ultimate direct from Apple:

SSD: SM256C
Display: LTH133BT01A03

Both are Samsung.

Regards,

Joe

1st 11", i5 1.6, 128GB: Samsung SSD/LG display

Decided to return it for a full refund. My decision was based on the fact that I actually didn't like the display at all: everything was washed out and dull.

I went to another store and bought the same configuration: now I have both Samsung SSD/display.
I'm satisfied with the screen now: colors are vibrant and crisp, the brightness appears to be better as well.

So I don't know about all these tests what they prove or not, but the Samsung panel is definitely better on my eyes.

last day for me to decide if I want to take my toshiba ssd mba 11 back or not... but I'm thinking not since the performance shouldn't be a huge difference right?

Got a i7 13" with 256GB SSD

Display and SSD are Samsung

Ordered via the Store, living in Germany

11" i7 256GB picked up in store in Melbourne.

Toshiba SSD
LG display

Very very happy with overall heat / fans, so I think I'll keep it. Honestly, If I hadn't read these stupid threads, I'd never have cared what SSD was in it. It is fast.

SSD: TS128C

Video: LP116WH4-TJA3

I used the 1st generation MacBook before this MacBook Air 11.6 so the screen is ****ing marvelous.

The old MacBook I could not see the screen only if I sit right in front of it. But now I can watch porn in every position because of this wide angle :)

On a more serious note: What is my Video? LG? Samsung?

13" 256gb

Just got my 13" i5 from Macmall

SSD: SM256C
Display: LTH133BT01A03

Eureka! Both are Samsung.

Thanks,
Jon

Returned my Air to the Apple store for a new one. They set up my LG MBA next to a demo model that had the Samsung screen side by side.
Two Mac Specialists agreed with me that the LG screen appeared duller than the Samsung one. The store manager on the other hand could see no difference.

The new unit that I got now has both the Samsung panel and ssd. Couldn't be happier. Colors are more vibrant, brightness has improved and text is easier to read. I am glad I played the panel lottery and won!

My 11" base that I ordered from the Apple Store last week arrived. It has the Samsung SSD and LG Display. I don't know what the Samsung display looks like but so far I am loving this little guy. The colors seem vibrant and the screen looks amazing compared to my old macbook unibody I sold to buy this. I am not going to be returning it because of the screen. Love it!

I had the LG in my 2010 11" and also my 2011 11". I briefly had the Samsung display on a 13" 2010 that I returned 2 days later because of a bad logic board, and while it did seem to have slightly better colors, I can't say it was significant. Anyway, I'm glad you got what you wanted.

Purchased my 2011 MBA 13" 256Gb SSD from Best Buy in Jacksonville FL.

Awesome combination! ;)

Purchased MBA 13" i5/4GB/256GB from best buy in store today (Aug 4 2011)

SSD: APPLE SSD SM256C

Your Display is LG

Quick way to know is LP short for LG Displays and LTH for Samsung Displays....

Looks like I won the lottery.

13" i7
SSD - SM256C (Samsung)
Display - LTH133BT01A03 (Samsung)

It probably doesn't really matter but it makes feel good anyway. :D

Just bought my first Mac ever a MBA 13 and got both Samsung SSD and display!

Got mine delivered from Apple UK today...

13" i5

TS256C (Tosh SSD)

LTH133BT01A03 (Sammy LCD)

Picked up in store, 11" MBA with 256GB and i7. Luckily got both from Samsung.

I bought another 1"" MBA 128GB i5 for my wife, but did not dare to check. So far from my everyday use did not feel any difference between the two.
