Catching the Phillies is no longer a priority for the Braves
Staying ahead in the wildcard is... and that is fading fast

Lowe has been abysmal
JJ hasn't been the same since the break
Timely hitting with RISP is non existent

Losing to the Nationals is unacceptable
Tonight, the try to avoid a sweep :(

Catching the Phils is a given...;) Watch out for those D-Backs...;)
Losing to the Nat's OUCH...

Giants dropped their fifth in a row, letting the D-Backs catch up to them in the standings. The wheels have fallen off since they left Philly: bad pitching, nonexistent offense. Not a pretty sight.

There's lots of baseball left to be played... There's lots of baseball left to be played... There's lots of baseball left to be played... I keep telling myself.

Yeh,but they always play the Phillies tough:confused: Will see tomorrow night:cool:. At least you won't see Doc:rolleyes:

Just found this thread. Looks pretty cool. Looks like there's a bit more NL than AL fans around here (at least on the last couple pages).

My Dad sure is enjoying MLB.TV on my ATV2, being displaced Detroit fans (now in West Kentucky, or BFK). We get all our games (except for Saturday blackouts, of course), and he doesn't miss a beat. Not only our games, but he'll watch anybody play, with priority being, of course, on our division teams. Only problem now is that I end up having to watch more TV show and Movie downloads on my iMac than I can on the TV.

Should be interesting as the season wraps up... There's no clear runaways for division leaders, other than maybe NL East, and even there enough time remains where it could tighten up if Atlanta gets hot and/or Philadelphia skids.

Thank goodness the Giants were able to take one of the games against the D-Backs. Since when did Ryan Vogelsong, formerly known as the guy we traded away to get Jason Schmidt, become the stopper? What an amazing career turnaround.

Also helps that the bats woke up against consistent Giants' nemesis Jason Marquis. New guys Keppinger, Beltran, and Cabrera with clutch hits today.

Bring on the Phils! Wish I was going to one of the games this weekend, but the series sold out ages ago. Should be a fantastic atmosphere at ATT.

Can't wait for a little payback:p Lee vs Bumgarner tonight:cool: Hopefully I can stay awake to watch it:rolleyes: Ryan Howard gets his first homer against a lefty yesterday:eek: With Pence protecting him he will see a lot more fastballs;) And thats a good thing:D

Tied for first heading into a Boston showdown.

Yanks draw first blood with a 3 spot in the 6th against Lester. Colon pitched great and the bullpen was perfect. CC going against Lackey tomorrow, so hopefully our streak will continue.

And WTF Giants and Phillies...The 49'ers need to sign that kid Whiteside to block for Frank Gore.

I guess the Giants couldn't take their beating like professionals, so they had to bean Victorino. I wonder how long it will take before the retaliation. My guess, it will be in game 4 of this series.

Can't wait,bring it on:cool:;) Who's in who's head now...;):rolleyes::D

The Cardinals (more specifically LaRussa) took all sorts of heat for beaning Ryan Braun in retaliation for them beaning Pujols, but at least we didn't have a bench clearing brawl - where's the outrage over the Phillies and Giants?

Question: Why is sign stealing a no-no? There's a story going around that accuses the Blue Jays of stealing signs at the Rogers Centre, and I can't wrap my mind around why it's considered cheating.

I could understand it being a problem if they were spying on the opposing team's practice, or had cameras in the dressing room, microphones in the dugout, or something like that, but if a team is smart enough to figure out the other team's signs while the game is being played, why is that cheating?

Shouldn't it be on a team to ensure that their signs are complicated enough so that the other team won't figure it out? If a team figures out the other team's strategy, why is that cheating?

They should quit whining and make more complicated signs or change them more often.

Baseball etiquette. Just like you don't steal 3rd if you're on the right side of a blowout or try bunting to get on base late in a no-hit bid.

I've always wondered about the bunting for a base hit. I remember a few years ago (can't remember the teams) someone had a no hitter in the 8th and it was a 1-0 or 2-0 game and it was broken up by a bunt. The manager went ballistic after the game. But I think it's a good play, at least in a close game. A hitters job is to get on base, and certainly no team wants to be no hit. Why not do everything you can to break it up and get guys on base?

Because if you want to beat a pitcher at his best, you want to beat him at your best. Bunting is cheap in the 8th and 9th inning in a no-hitter or perfect game situation.

I agree with that.

Except it's considered cheating, not bad etiquette. That's how it's being described. That's what I don't understand.

I guess it depends on how it's done. If it's done by one of the 9 guys on the field (or even another player/the manager in the dugout) I don't see it as cheating. But if you are employing other coaches/whatever to use binoculars or cameras or something to steal them from the stands, that's cheating.

Uggla hitting streak at 30 games
Who have thought that when he was batting .170 before the break

Not only does he have the hitting streak
But he has multi hit games, raised his average significantly, hit HRs and driven in runs in crucial situations
Kudos to Dan the Man

And honestly, Kimbrel and Freeman should both be rookie of the year candidates

Only thing about Uggla I remember is him booting two easy grounders back in the 2008 All Star game. He is the man. Helped the AL win that night. :D
