You are using the old link. I changed the link to mitigate trolling (assuming that trolls were using a bookmark). I just checked the sheet to find it was already trolled again, which means anonymous edits sure as hell still work.

Ahhhh ok, thanks!

What did you say? I want to follow your same path of conversation to get the same thing :D

This is the first time I'm posting here but I've been following since I placed my order on 5/4/11. I called for information and spoke to a very nice rep. She said that she did not have anything solid but she had heard that Apple might make some "announcements" at the WWDC on 6/6 regarding the iMac. Again not sure the validity.

Then I explained that people with the same configuration in the 21" version were already starting to receive theirs. I asked if there was any compensation for the long wait and that I needed it for school. She immediately gave me the student discount -$188!! (I have not started or registered for school yet, no validation/proof required, however I really do plan on starting at the end of July)...

And then expedited 2-3 day shipping... YAY :apple:! :)

Also got the free upgrade to overnight shipping... just had to ask for it.

My rep had no information about the delay, but he did say something interesting when he was upgrading my shipping. He said, "I see your computer will be shipping from inside the US, so that should arrive at your house the day after it ships."

Not sure if that means all BTO iMacs are shipping from inside the US or what.

Very interesting what the previous poster said about WWDC... Doesn't seem possible unless the 27" people are getting a different SSD than the 21.5" people.

I don't think there is any validity to the rep that said the delay might be related to WWDC. Having said this, if there is any truth to it, it would most likely be Lion related as Lion does add significantly better support for SSDs including TRIM support. We will all get this by upgrading to Lion however, and considering Apple has been shipping SSDs on Macbooks for a couple years, there is no reason to delay shipment of the iMacs with SSDs for this.

My delivery date for 27" iMac with SSD has been pushed back to 18th JULY! I ordered on the 3rd May. A friend who ordered on the same day has been pushed back too.

A three month delay is unacceptable.

Now this is really, really unacceptable.

Just a thought, did you change the order after 3 May? They might have pushed you back because of that.
In that case, I might give their customer service a call. Worth a shot anyway.

No changes.

I spoke to someone in the call center who said he couldn't explain it but would try and get an answer and call me back.

For iMacs to not ship until 2 1/2 months after ordering... something is up.

This can't just be a lack of Toshiba HG3s. It makes me wonder if they are trying to switch to a new part, and there are supply problems or issues cropping up in verification testing, and they're falling back on the HG3s to keep orders moving at all.

When other people start getting their iMacs, post your System Profiler information for your Serial-ATA devices.

WTF!??? I am so sad now. Almost this close --> <--- to cancel the order and leave the SSD.

I ordered on 3 May as well. Shipping estimate still showing 16 June.

I hope they sort it out for you. Incredible.

I'm still showing June 15 ship ... I hope it stays like that too otherwise I will be very

It would be nice if :apple: could just say something and explain a little - at least that way you would feel they actually gave a cr*p :(

These changes in shipping estimates are crazy, but probably don't make any difference, since we saw the 21.5"s all more or less ship around the same time regardless of when you ordered them.

As for what's causing the delay, I think we can more or less completely rule out a new SSD at this point. The 21.5" does not have a new drive, and Anand says the following in his review of the 27" (linked on another thread):

While my review system didn't come with a SSD, Apple tells me that the 2011 iMacs use the same SSDs that the 2010 iMacs offered as an option (apparently a Toshiba based SSD).

That basically settles it, no? Bummer, but what can you do?

I just hang up with Apple and the friendly person that helped me thinks that the dates are not correct. Hey had a intern memo about some software updates that possible changed the dates by accident.

He will inform me Monday by email with more information.

If the new date is correct (18 July) I will drop the (little bit old) SSD and move my cpu up from a i5 3.1GHz to a i7 3.4GHz

With other words... my first iMac, my first Apple... and disappointed already?

Although it sucks I basically just look at it all as the risk we take for buying a product that doesn't exist yet. Early adopters and all that. Also if this all ends up just being a software error or similar, then if we would have just sat back and waited we would have gotten the computers right on the original schedule.

Mine ship date stayed the same also. The only component I didn't upgrade that most people did was the GPU. I stayed with the standard 6970M 1GB.

Hopefully earlier posts are correct for those of you that had a date change that it was just an error that will be corrected by early next week.

My delivery date for 27" iMac with SSD has been pushed back to 18th JULY!
Same deal with me. This morning I had June 17/June 27 listed as shipping and delivery dates, now it is July 8/July 19 for my May 3 order.
I called customer service. They did not know anything beyond the system listing the delay as being "due to internal processes". This could mean anything as they admitted but speculated (and it was clearly just that) about a supply bottleneck.

My ship date has moved from June 28th, to March 12th, 2013. Maybe OS X 10.8 "Lolcat" will be out by then.

Just kidding. Still June 28th with an expected delivery of June 29th. Considering we have further confirmation from Anand Shimpi that the SSDs are nothing but Toshiba HG3s, this is a bit odd.

Just got off the phone with Apple, just like everyone else calling. I asked why there was a delay with the Custom 27 inch with SSD, and he went and asked, and they said it was because of the upgraded video from 1 to 2GB. I told him that wasn't right, because you could go on now and order either the 1 or 2 GB, and still both are 2 to 4 days delivery, not 4 to 6 weeks. He then came back and told me, they really don't no why it is delayed. They are just guessing. No one higher up in Apple is letting them know why, especially with the 21.5 shipping for 1 to 3 days with the SSD.

But I did get from him free overnight shipping and he also refunded me the price of one of the cables I bought from them on the same ticket, mini display port to DVI for my problems and wait. Not so bad. My iMac will ship June 21 and I will get it June 22 now. A little earlier than June 28.

Bye the way, I was joking with the representative, maybe they are waiting to ship the 27 with Lion, and he said, hey, you never know.

27" SSD delayed to 3½ months!

When I called about the additional delay, the Apple hotline suggested to try reordering via their phone sale team, so I called there. Unfortunately, they have the same 4-6 week delivery time for the 27" SSD iMac as the online store.
Hardmac.com claims to have received word from "an apple employee" about the SSD being manufactured in an area of Japan hit by the recent earthquakes, which supposedly causes these delays (German website http://www.macnews.de/mac/ssd-imac-lieferschwierigkeiten-wegen-erdbeben-in-japan-175822).
Yet, the 21" SSD iMac meanwhile get shipped in 3-4 DAYS (effective delivery date of June 8-10, i.e. 12 days), so this claim seems rather doubtful to me.

Ordered a 21.5 with ssd on may 3, got it yesterday.

By the way, it screams. :)

In the System Profiler, is the SSD an "Apple SSD TS256C" or something else? If it's something else, please post a screenshot.

I ordered my SSD 27" iMac on 3 May and my ship date is still 15 Jun. How many of the folks whose shipments have been pushed back are NOT located in the USA? I think someone mentioned that the final assembly point for the USA-bound CTO iMacs is in the USA, so I wonder if they delay has something to do with the final assembly point.

I live in the U.S., and I just got the phone with the Apple representative, who said my custom 27 inch was shipping from the U.S. I don't know about world wide, but it is interesting that they would ship if from U.S.
