hey guys, one bittersweet thing:

I just talked to apple today, and i am eligible for the "Lion Up to date" clause.

See here:

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2011/06/06lion.html

the important part is:

"The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request."

After talking to apple, even though i placed my order may 3rd, it didn't CHARGE my creditcard till 6/10 so TECHNICALLY i didn't buy my mac till then.

Anyways, just passing it along for what it's worth (i guess 30 bucks)

Thank You. I was wondering the same thing. So as long as you trust Lion in the first 30 days, you get it free....

How do you actually enter a request for the Lion upgrade? Just sent a mail to the reseller. He told me to request it directly with apple.

Offtopic: I ordered my iMac /w SSD via the reseller. After reading a lot about the magic trackpad and the positive feedback, I asked the reseller 3 weeks after ordering my iMac to switch it with the Magic mouse I ordered.

Just received a mail where he states that he will give me the trackpad instead of the mouse. Without any hassle. Pretty sweet I think.

My iMac was finally shipped on June 11th (ordered May 10th) expecting delivery tomorrow. So excited!

Also does anyone know how Time Machine handles backing up multiple internal drives? I currently use a 2TB external drive for backups and i'm hoping I can backup both the SSD and HDD using Time Machine. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Just got off the phone with TNT. My iMac is in Arnhem and still due for delivery on Friday in the UK. As my local TNT depot is less than 2 miles away from me, they called the depot and asked them to hold it there for me. I can collect anytime between 8am and 8pm. Beats hanging around at home all day waiting for a delivery!

Pudong Airport Delays TNT

So, does anyone know why our iMacs seem to spend so much time sitting at Pudong airport? I am seeing other people with what looks like 4 day delays.

Mine is shipping to Australia and is on its second day at Pudong with TNT and am trying to get an idea for how long it might take.

I'm not convinced that they are spending that long at Pudong. I think it's just the trackers are not being updated very often.

I like that theory and hope it is true. I don't think TNT flies direct to Sydney so I figured they might transfer at Singapore and I am not sure that would turn up on their tracking. I am sticking by Apple's delivery estimate and hoping it might be the day before. So many times in the past I have seen tracking fall out of sync...

Woooo Hooooo. Received an email from Apple this morning informing me that my iMac has shipped with UPS.

I have a tracking number and UPS are scheduled to deliver by end of day Friday. Now I know what I'm doing this weekend. :D

Tracking spreadsheet updated with Actual Ship Date and Shipped Via completed.

I'm in Maryland, USA.

Yeah - It arrived.

I ordered a fully loaded machine on May 26th. It made it to MN this morning already. I just used the free shipping.

Sorry I need to update my signature.

So we can’t just download the Lion upgrade file and install it later, at a time of our choosing?

I will for sure update to Lion sometime in the future, when ProTools and my other programs support it. But since I’m eligible to a free copy of Lion now within 30 days, I would assume I can just download the file from the App Store and install it whenever I please. Or can’t I do that?

Ps. Sorry for going off topic

pisses me off too as the guy above my post shows his is out for delivery, and looking at the history and times must have been on the same flight as mine, unless tnt have a flight every 3 hours which I doubt.

Bunch of to..ers

Just checked on the apple serial number search and my warrantee runs from the 9th June, just to pi$$ me off more

Apple stores are very understanding when it comes to issues like this. If you're really concerned :

The day you get it , call applecare and ask to have your warranty start date moved. OR you can just wait until 3 years from now, and take your computer in for its last service 1 week early. I do not think this is going to cause any disruption to you loving your new imac. Also if you went into a store a week after your warranty expired with an issue, they'd certainly fix it - even without your story.

Got an update at last. It's in the Arnhem Hub and still due for delivery in the UK on Friday. Anyone know how to flight track it from Arnhem? I'm getting totally obsessed with tracking this baby!

Also for those to have had deliveries in the UK, was 2 days enough to get the package from Arnhem to your delivery address?

:'( mine was the same time at pudong but no update yet.
Although TNT says delivery on friday to munich

*sigh*

At this stage I can only hope the tracking system is glitching.

If it's past customs or not will decide whether it's here by the weekend, as promised.

I ordered mine on June 5, and it shipped this morning, scheduled to arrive on Friday, 6/17. I'm in fort worth. My original shipping date was July 19. Very nice.

since others were calling in to apple to request the free copy of lion. i did as well this morning but was told that the "up to date program" had not started yet, and that they did not have enough information yet to be able to process requests.

congrats. mine was tracking 24 hours ahead, and then it just sat in memphis w/no movement. it must have arrived during a union stretch break...

Arrived

YAY! Just arrived... Central New York, ordered May 4th.

i5, SSD, 1TB / 1GB.

It's my first mac and it is BEAUTIFUL. No dead pixels, no yellowing and very very fast! Definitely worth the wait.

The box it came in was totally smashed in on one side. Put a large hole in the shipping box as well as the apple box. I thought there might be a huge hole in the screen as well , but luckily it was spared :D

I just specced my top of the range iMac up on the apple store ready to hit the fire button when/if the b2s promo starts and the lead time is now down to 5-7 days for the ssd bto option.

So potentially this time next week I could be zipping along these forums on my new iMac.
