I'm glad that I didn't pay for expedited delivery.

Ordered on 6/5 with expected delivery of 7/26. When I ordered over the phone, the rep had stated that it would take 4 to 6 weeks because of the SSD (which I already knew), but as he was ending the call, he said, "you'll get a shipment email in a couple of weeks". I assumed that he didn't really mean a couple of weeks, but maybe he knew something about the soon to be improved time frames...hmm... Anyway, I'm glad that it's here much earlier than expected. Now, hoping that there will be no issues. It's going to be a long day at the office.

Sheesh. I wonder why it has to sit so long in Memphis before coming to me in DC. I see two Memphis to Dulles FedEx flights daily, one of which departed ~6 hours after my iMac arrived in TN. Looks like I will not be lucky enough to get it before the weekend.

Hi, I have a quick question about going from a Mac Book with 200GBs to the Imac with SSD and HD. Can I make both new drives identical copies of my current drive since it wil fit on both? Are both bootable?

I am a switcher and just a couple of days the owner of this iMac w/ ssd. I AM IN LOVE timemachine allready saved my dump ugly big hairy ass 1 time. If it happend in Windows it would be a big personal fail.

well.. startup.. after all my stuff installed, rights repaired and after two clean startups, my boot time is around 54secs. not thaat quick..
what are your boot-times?

maxed out iMac, i7,256SSD,16GB

Mine takes a while to boot also but it's because of all of the USB and FW800 devices I have attached. Once it gets to the white screen with the Apple logo it's only about four pinwheel spins before it completely finishes.

Yes, a few of us have. As long as you didn't pay for the iMac before the 6th (even if it was ordered before the 6th), you'll get the Up To Date upgrade.

I had just barely set up my unboxed beauty, and was having dinner with my family when my cell phone rang:

"Hi, this is K****** from Apple, I see your iMac finally arrived. Are you happy with it?"
Me: "oh, sure, why?"
K******:"Just wanted to make sure you're satisfied- by the way, we'll credit you with $140 ( 750 NOK) as a compensation for the slight hassle and waiting and such - takes a week to show up on your credit card, though".

She is right, its not yet released. It was announced that it will be released in July on the App store. The App store is the only way to get it, it will cost circa USD 30 unless you got you new mac after the 6th June. You must be running Snow Leopard to upgrade.

How we apply for the free upgrade wasnt announced, but it will be on Apples website in due course.

Good news is my iMac just arrived at my local FedEx facility but too bad it's Friday afternoon Any chance they would deliver on Saturday or let me pick it up tomorrow? It's going to be quite hot here in Phoenix over the weekend so I would rather pick it up then let it sit somewhere in this heat.

Finally got it set up. I love it. Very fast: about 19 second boot up. I'm glad that I got the SSD instead of the HDD only version. I've got my 24" Dell attached, and the 27" seems so much bigger. An extra 3" really makes a difference (that's what she said).
