watched both shows so far...love it.

on a side note, read the whole thread approx where seau killed himself. did you guys know he was a wife/woman beater? in two separate lawsuits from women that he abused?

im so tired of all the RIP/sadness for him, he ruined women's lives. good riddance.

I actually did not, but those stories did surface after he died. Definitely not defending that behavior, although I wouldn't say good riddance. He was a profoundly troubled man, obviously. There is a risk in making heroes out of athletes who share only a small part of themselves.

I admit I skipped Hard Knocks the first season, when it was the Jets. Not out of any special hatred, I just missed he first couple of episodes and was too lazy to go back. Now I'd like to, but can't seem to track it down. Although I'm really glad New England hasn't elected to do the show.

I felt so bad when they were ripping Michael Egnew. I just wanted to hug him. I hope he battles through it.

i know right!? then he caught that one tipped pass, nice catch. but don't think he will make the cut. im rooting for les brown, TE. he can't block worth S$%& though!

Cowboys/Giants.

I wish they could both lose. :)

I wish this were possible, I'm right there with you. :D

Umm....

Giants D making Tony Romo look like Troy Aikman and Ogeltree like Michael Irvin.

If the Cowboys win this game, work will be unbearable tomorrow. For the love of everything holy, come on Giants.

if the Giants win, work will be unbearable - as it has been since the damned Super Bowl. The idea of rooting for either of these teams makes me hotsnack.

Ya is Olgeltree legit or is this a one time thing.

Ya Bradshaw.

The Giants defense does not look good.

With the exception of the one sack, they haven't touched Romo. If they don't start getting to him, they'll lose.

Living in Texas and being surrounded by all of these Cowboys fans - Ugh.

Ya the defense is asleep at the wheel. Hopefully it is just first game rust.

Defense looked poor, going down to 5th choice CB on Ogletree really exposed the Giants. Barnard looked good and scary in the 1st half, tired and done in the 2nd. Bennett looked good and mean against his old team, showed them why he should've had a chance. The O-Line looked way worse than last year and Eli can only do so much to make them look half decent. It looked like he was scared of throwing the ball away in case the replacements threw a flag on him. Cruz dropped a couple of sure catches. Wilson needs to get some lessons on protecting the ball in an NFL game, although he showed some promise.

After the first game though, I really hope the NHL doesn't have too much of a lockout!

Suspensions for four players connected to the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal have been overturned by a three-man arbitration panel, sources tell ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The ruling should clear Jonathan Vilma, Will Smith, Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargrove to start the season.

"Victory is mine!!!! -stewie griffin," Vilma tweeted Friday afternoon.

The panel's decision affects the players only, not suspended coaches Gregg Williams, Sean Payton and Joe Vitt.

After former Browns owner Art Modell's recent passing, the Cleveland Browns' front office decided to do a little memorial announcement over the loudspeaker on Sunday. Fortunately, at the request of Modell's own family this insane idea was ixnayed before gameday and a certain riot was averted.

Plenty of hack pundits and malicious internet comment-leavers have told Clevelanders to stop whining, stop hating Modell and move on. All I need respond with is that anyone who says such things was clearly not living in Cleveland in 1995 and has no idea what they are talking about.

Modell had a big elaborate memorial in Baltimore anyway. Let them eulogize him.

(I needn't comment on the Browns' actual football performance because we're permanently hopeless and perennially disrespected by the footballing press. Who loses a game 17-16? After forcing five turnovers? To a washed-up Michael Vick? Answer: The Browns.)

I actually think they are doing pretty good so far. The media is reminding us of how "horrible" the replacements are every chance they can get, but in reality things could be much worse. These guys are really in a no win situation. The regular officials blow calls and it's just "oh well, that's a part of the game...", but when the replacements blow a call it's going to be talked about over and over and over and over..... Truly it's a thankless job.
