Don't underestimate the Falcons. All they need to do is contain Kaepernick.

In other news, Houston's offense is just not good enough

Seattle had a couple of serious injuries going into the game yet they were able to come back and almost win. Which is a subject for another day. If kaerernick isn't contained Atlanta will be in for a long day.

Re the field goal. Carroll was seen on tv telling the ref on the sideline he wanted a time out just before Atlanta kicked the missed one.

I want falcons and ravens in superbowl lets go!

Falcons are tough and held off a hot Seattle. Ravens would have to beat New England which seems hard if Pats show up with this team next match.

Falcons beat the team that had 49ers number and that's disturbing to me.

Great catch by Andre Johnson for the 2 points to make it 38-28. He looked like a basketball player going for a rebound. Too bad the Texans couldn't get the onside kick to make it more interesting. I don't think it's over yet, but it close. The fat lady is doing vocal warmups so she can go out and sing.

I'm sure the Patriots will never hear about this. Not. Not very smart by a guy who's not even a Ravens starter.

Got any more brilliant analysis, 63dot?

Congrats on making it to where Denver couldn't this year. There was so much attention paid to Manning and some sort of early crowning as player of the year and "certain" Super Bowl champ. He will have to wait another year at least.

So the one team I was sure who could beat you in AFC is gone, so I expect your Pats to handily beat Baltimore in your own backyard and make it to the Super Bowl in first back to back since your 2003 season march. It will be fun to see what the Vegas odds puts the game at in a couple of days. You should be favored by two touchdowns once the math heads get to analyze what you have done and have versus what Baltimore comes up short on. Do they expect to simply run their running back on nearly every first and second down and fool you?

I think you won the game you were supposed to and not having to face Peyton Manning, or any Manning, for that matter is a bullet you dodged.

As a SF fan I am very glad we don't have to face Seattle again as I think they could be one of those teams who we usually can't beat much the way the NY Giants are your kryptonite. We already got embarrassed with our long term NFC West rival Rams this year, and I am glad we won't have to face them or Seattle until next season.

This is early but here's something to ponder:

Team 2013 Super Bowl XLVII Futures Odds
Money Odds (Payout Per $100 Bet.)
Atlanta Falcons +$600 (6 to 1)
Baltimore Ravens +$600 (6 to 1)
Houston Texans +$1,500 (15 to 1)
New England Patriots +$200 (2 to 1)
San Francisco 49ers +$200 (2 to 1)
Seattle Seahawks +$800 (8 to 1)

14 points would be a crazy line especially for a playoff game. No way that will happen. It will be big but not 14 points big. Probably around 8 or 9. Maybe 9.5 tops. In the other game SF will lay around 3.5.

I saw something similar to that in hypothetical yesterday, but before Gronk went down. I wonder if that will change anything. Most of NE looks like they are firing on all pistons. Then adjusting to that, let's say NE, 7.

Who else will go down before Super Bowl? If SF loses QB, at least they have as good, if not better/smarter QB to step right in. Our own Gore is so hot and cold, and if he's on, it really helps our chances. Randy Moss still has something in him too and I hope he can add some depth.

I think NE will be all over Baltimore. The NFC game should be a lot closer though and they seem evenly matched.

I don't know about that. New England offense is just clicking but I'm sure the Ravens will be more than ready, they have so much motivation from extending Ray's career to last year's heartbreaking loss. If the Patriots do win by 14+ points, it won't be that surprising but I think it's going to be a close game (winning team by 10 points or less) with the potential for a lot of points being scored by both teams.

Next weekend can't come fast enough...

Reminds me of that Steelers defensive back who talked **** a few years ago before playing the Patriots and then they got torched and he personally gave up at least 2 touchdowns. :D

This is nothing knew, the media have been doing this his whole career. Hype Manning up throughout the regular season, he wins the regular season awards, and then lays an egg when the playoffs start. He's overrated. Most playoff losses by any starting QB in history. 8 one and done playoff years.

Meanwhile Tom Brady throws for 344 yards, 3 touchdowns, and 0 int to win his 17th career playoff game, passing Joe Montana for 1st all time. Brady has as many postseason wins as both Peyton and Eli combined.

It's going to be a close game and probably going to be a bloodbath. Patriots have developed quite a good rivalry with the Ravens over the past few years. It's the first time since 86/87 that we're going to see a rematch of the AFC championship in back to back years which should be interesting. Baltimore should have won last year, and they beat the Patriots in week 3, so I think the Patriots will be very motivated to go out there and prove they deserve to win this game.

Losing Gronk hurts but we're extremely lucky we have two All-Pro tight ends. Hernandez will have to step up big (he didn't play in the week 3 loss).

I think the media in general are in love with the Mannings whether it's a car commercial for Peyton talking to dad?, or Eli and Peyton squaring off with the Williams sisters. They are as media friendly as they get while, as you mention, Tom Brady is out passing them in many overall stats.

Peyton Manning is part football player, part celebrity but I don't know if this is of his choosing. Big Ben won two Super Bowls and was additionally in a third and we don't see any Big Ben commercials.

And the fact that he only really won one of those superbowls. The first one he had help.

Had help ? That's an understatement. Seattle had Superbowl XL stolen from them against Pittsburgh.

It was as bad as the Failed Mary pass.

Today their own coach took a win from them in Atlanta with that botched time out.

We get no respect I tell ya.. No respect.

But Wilson deserves rookie of the year. imho I never thought he could pass for 350 yards with only one interception against Atlanta.

I agree that wasn't the smartest move, but I don't really believe in extra motivation in the playoffs. In the regular season possibly, but I mean when its win or go home and you are just now a few steps of what is probably a life long dream, I doubt they need to get any more fired up.

Congratulations to the Falcons. Tough game, even though I was pulling for the Hawks, have to give kudos where kudos is deserved. As others have said, by far the best game so far. Although the Denver game was good too.
