With your optimist glasses on
the picture you paint is just plain wrong
nothing more than a TED song
the imacs
- they're all gone

so next tuesday
you'll be crying
stumbling all over your lying
7 days of hope
and then nothing
once again you will be denying
it won't matter
cause negativity is flying

and cook is counting idevices
while apple plays with you like dices
in the crises
with heartbeats as cold as ices

You are a poet, and you weren't even aware of it.

I don't know gpu's very well, so i would just guess something like...

tack this onto the bottom of my long post :D

[] Graphics Card #1 w/ 1GB (standard)
[] Graphics Card #2 w/ 2GB [Add $100.00]

I wish Apple switched to 8GB RAM standard. 4GB is embarassing on desktop machines (OK, maybe they could leave it on Mini).

What do you guys think?

Really hope RAM and Hard Drive configs aren't as overpriced as you suggest.

I can get 4x8GB Notebook (Mac) 1600MHz DIMs for <$200
And can buy a 256GB Samsung 830 for <$200
Also a 2TB 7200RPM Drive costs <$100

Really hope the Apple Tax isn't up to 200% on the upgrades from your estimates.

If you've been a Mac user/fan for a while and observing their products, you would know that these prices are pretty normal. Apple prices are usually double, that's their markup so 200% is in the norm.

It would really be a nice surprise if they somehow included SSD storage as a standard, I think 128GB would be OK for most users. I'm afraid they won't do it, they're keeping it for 2013's "Pro" computer. I can definitely see rMBP/classic MBP analogy reflected in desktop machines as well. The "Pro" models would have retina displays and SSD storage + larger RAM as standard, while the "classic" models would keep regular resolutions, regular HDDs and lower price tags.

retina Macbook Pro/classic Macbook Pro
retina iMac Pro/classic iMac
server Mac mini/classic Mac mini

The Dell xps and HP imac clone both come with SSD & HDD in there standard better models, so I can't see apple missing out on this, I imagine they will go down a 64gb/128gb route though, with 256/512 as the upgrade options, I would be happy with 64gb to keep the OS and Adobe software on, with a 1tb drive for storage and other applications, 128 would be better as standard though.

Im hoping for slower i7 as stock for 27" High model, 64gb ssd, 1gb HDD (remember no optical drive so they should really be sticking an SSD as space replacement and as a reason for removing optical)

I would like to see £1800 top spec, not BTO 27"

i7 3.1ghz 1155
8gb 1333/1600mhz ram
64gb & 1tb hdd
680m 1gb FX

what I wish to see

i7 2011 4core as stock, upgradeability to the 6 core extremes
8gb 1600mhz
256gb & 1tb
680m 2gb, possible sli dual as upgrade as alienware manage it in there 17" laptops.

....

what I expect to see from apple :(

i5 as standard
still 4gb ram 2x2gb
1tb hdd, or 1tb and 32gb ssd 'cache'
****** 1gb 6xx FX

£2000 due to slimmer (its a desktop I couldnt give a damn if it was slimmer, i'd happily have 2" added to thickness for 2011 model for extra gear

.. :(

If it costs £2000.00 then I will Hackintosh...sorry.

Something's got me worried about that 9to5 post. 2 things basically,

They are inferring imacs are to be updated based on mac minis reports.

and

They mention a configuration of 2x8GB for RAM, if the new imac is indeed thinner, then I am really worried that apple might slash ram slots by half. I mean, they will still support their "16GB" (2x8GB) of memory but then how about those who want to get 32GB?

I really hope I am wrong and apple keeps 4 slots of ram and if they announce 32GB ram is officially supported then I hope it means 64GB is unofficially supported.

Does anyone know if the new models would be available same or next day in Apple Stores or are they usually online only?

Generally there's an overnight product setup session in Apple stores on announcement day, and you can buy them (or at least demo and order them) the next day.

As concerning the SSD vs HDD: it would be interesting to see Apple use some kind of hybrid (which have existed for some time now). I believe the Dell XPS uses a 2TB + 32GB SSD; a hybrid along these lines would certainly be welcome (though unrealistic).

What about matte screen

The new "design rumors" include the screen-lamination process used for the rMBP, or at least a similar version of that. This lamination includes a "non reflective" coating/filter/whatever that'll minimize reflections, without the negative effects of matte screens (color loss etc.).

In looking at several of these posts concerning the proposed hard drive sizes in the new IMACs, and I see that many people are assuming the possibility of Apple offering a 2TB Hard Drive in the new IMACs.

At this time, I do not believe that would be very likely to offer anything larger than a 1TB, if it is true that Apple is moving to a 2.5" Hard Drive in the IMAC, then the largest capacity that they would offer would be a 1TB b/c the larger 2.5" hard drives are currently too expensive.

Am I missing something?
