You should go read up some on past iMacs launches. Check the archive on this site. It's been many years since last time they had stage time. It's usually only with complete redesigns. It might be redesigned Tuesday, but it might just as we'll be a silent launch on the homepage like usual. I'm with 42 on this one. Probably 60/40.

Actually, just the fact that they don't advertise the iMacs should tell you at it often won't get stage time.

I can't remember the last time I saw an iMac commercial. Years?

Sorry again, I dont want to continue this so please move on topic. I just dont understand why some people use irony with such sensitive matters in such forums.

Moving to the topic, I really wish they will not change the prices so to buy a new base iMac or Mac mini. Sold my office's main PC (2006 iMac) recently in order to update with a faster one.

The rumor is that they will be the same price.

i was looking for this post!
im hoping there will be a refresh to the imac line. in the uk im finding it very hard to find a 27" iMac i called up Currys and Argos and they say they dont have any in their warehouses. currys did say they aren't getting more stock of the iMac's until the end of october:confused:

The UK store only shows around 4 days for any BTO iMac. I dont really think that these dates have any effect on when a new imac will be released.

That's strange, the Uk store is showing 1-3 days for all the standard models but 2-3 weeks for the bto machines.

I was told by a genius today "....between me and you I'd advise checking back in a week we will have more options on an iMac for you" and he winked his eye.

It came up when I was asking a bunch of questions about them and told him I was interested in one.

I guess they also read MacRumors. :)

I just hope we don't get disappointed like this summer with the WWDC.

So if no iMac Retina this year, when do you predict it to happen?

iPhone, iPad, MBP all have it now so iMac and Thunderbolt display all that is left...

The cost still needs to go way down. Maybe 21" in 2013 and 27" in 2014. 2014 would probably be the year the Air goes Retina too.

We won't. This time we have SKUs, blurry photos and insider information specifically saying that they'll be released. WWDC was based upon assumptions and hope.

lets just see the prices first, its just a LCD display with high pixel density...how much it really costs to make or whatever is anyones guess

It doesnt matter how much it costs to make. What matters is how much apple charge for the pleasure of making it for you. We only have to see the £400 price hike on the rmbp, remembering that a classic macbook pro 15" costs £100 more than the 27", i would guess the hike would be an extra £500? Maybe im miles away but if apple charge an extra £400 for a 15" (al be it with an added ssd on the mbp) then I shiver to think what they would deem a worthy price for a 27" retina screen on top of the high end model which you will inevitably need to drive a screen of that size to its full potential.

it doesnt cost too much to actually make, but as we saw with retina MBPs it raises the prices a lot. Now, just think instead of 13" to 15" you have a 27" retina from apple? They are not very friendly with pricing on new things lol

well yeah laptops costs more than desktops, you're already paying premium for a mobile device...desktops are cheaper and more powerful, the increase would be just for the display

As apple's main event if to show more toys (ipad 7") and the new macbook pro 13" with fancy screen.....I'm almost certain that the imac and mini will only see a spec bump and not a redesign.

If they where gonna have a redesigned Imac, something would have leaked, and we would be getting a event just for the Imac.
