I think we're going to be in for a real "WOW" when these things release.

Total redesign that will be worth the wait.

I really hope it happens in October.

Edit - We need to be too, if there is "a lot to look forward to in 2012". So far the MacBook Pro with Retina has been the only wow factor. There wasn't much leaked on it prior to its release. The iPhone 5 was all over the internet prior to its release. Sure its a totally new design and all, but I think the next item to give us that magic, "wow" Apple release, will be the 2012 iMac.

Been to my local apple reseller this afternoon. He said iMacs were in constraint when the new iPhone was released. Now there is plenty of stock and constraint has been lifted. He thinks it will be before Christmas though.

Amazon had ridiculous amounts now as well. Life + God hate me.

What a stinking pile of ***** if Dirty Harr turns out to be right.

This was Out of stock just a few days ago.

How certain are you guys that the note that they come installed with "Lion" is accurate ? could it be just Amazon being fail ?

You can't read to much into the stock levels. Amazon have had large shortages of iMac's for around 1 month and we haven't seen a release. There has to be some other news and not just rumors!

I have also noticed that the mac mini is also experiencing some stock shortages. I think they could all be released in mid octover.

what about the macbook pro 13inch retina. The imac will be released the same day.

No one is saying anything wrong with a 2012 MacBook Pro 13 inch retina but the 2013 macbooks!!!!!!!!! That's just sad. It's sad we get rumors about a 2013 machine and nothing about the 2012 overdue iMacs this just sucks

I love how we get MacBook Pro and airs 2013 rumors and nothing on the overdue iMacs this is crap

AMEN! This is pure crap...we're not even in 2013, and already, rumors surface on 2013 MacBooks while the 2012 iMac sits stagnant in some abandoned cave/warehouse :( I swear MacRumors has nothing better to do with its time. There should be some kind of guideline that dictates the kind of crap rumor sites are allowed to post. I mean, shouldn't priority be given to the 2012 iMac and not 2013 MacBooks?!? WTF!!! We may not even live to see 2013 and yet rumor sites are already fawning over 2013 MacBooks. Mind you they were just refreshed a couple of months ago. I'm gonna go see a shrink that could prescribe me some anti-depressants :(

I'm waiting since June for an iMac to jump from Windows to Mac. But i waited because of the Buyer's Guide on MacRumors. It said "Updates soon - dont buy". If Apple doesnt release a new iMac in october I will buy a 2011 model. I will not wait for an iMac coming out in 2013.

Well, form over function or function over form,in the meanwhile there's no 2012 Imac form..at all.
Its ugly,maybe,but its here with a GTX680.

If you really want a GTX680, you can get it in much better looking PCs. God I'd rather look at a Transformers-themed Alienware tower..

Yeah and this is Mac forum. Why do people keep posting PCs here? There is another thread for it. Seriously, that thing doesn't even look tempting. It's powerful, yeah... but so are thousands of PC boxes. There is a reason why people want iMacs over other AIOs.

If you need raw power and latest components, you should get into building PCs, never gonna find it in Apple's machines.

Last and not least, it doesn't run OS X, so not interested.

Yeah seriously at that point just put those components into their own box and make it look halfway decent. That thing looks like a brute.

Exactly what I'm waiting for and why. I messed around with the i7 27" with 4gb of RAM at the Apple Store, and it was a screamer. I can't imagine how it would be with an SSD and 32gb of RAM!

If you could load a thousand gigs of RAM on the board it wouldn't make it any faster.

Various

Amazon DE is almost completley out of stock.

http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=sr_nr_p_...ds=imac&ie=UTF8&qid=1348683835&rnid=392620011

Only 6 iMacs and 5 Mac Minis. All the rest are out of stock.

All the current model iMacs I could find online come with Lion. The 27 inch iMac at http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=sr_nr_p_n...rnid=392620011 stated only that it came with OS X; with the 21.5 inch they said that it came with Lion. All this suggests that the immediate source of these iMacs is not Apple, unless they ship to non-Apple-Store retailers without bothering to load Mountain Lion.

One of the rumors that I have not seen reference recently is the supposed problem with the new glass-fusing process in the 27” case as maybe holding up production. If the design change implied is correct, this would tend to suggest a basic redesign. Cutting out the DVD capability would tend to reinforce the thought.

Some of you suggest that you would jump the shark if the new iMacs are not out by a certain date. Thinking about this I asked myself if I would go with the current model after October. I am using an early 2006 20” model which has problems in the Darwin/Unix underpinnings. I’m fighting freezes and crashes, and data loss stemming from my attempts to fix it. Thinking of getting the current model near the end of November, I saw that if I did that and they brought out the new iMacs in the first quarter of 2013 I would be very unhappy. I decided to wait it out. For one thing, the heat problem of the 27” iMac concerns me as its viability long term.

"2012 iMac - next big date?!?"

^ Every Tuesday from now until the 2012 iMac is released is the "next big date".
