Yeah and this is Mac forum. Why do people keep posting PCs here? There is another thread for it. Seriously, that thing doesn't even look tempting. It's powerful, yeah... but so are thousands of PC boxes. There is a reason why people want iMacs over other AIOs.

If you need raw power and latest components, you should get into building PCs, never gonna find it in Apple's machines.

Last and not least, it doesn't run OS X, so not interested.

Why?First this is due to the long delay Apple is giving us in terms of new Imacs, second because,i know its disturbing but its a free world.Peace.

If you really want a GTX680, you can get it in much better looking PCs. God I'd rather look at a Transformers-themed Alienware tower..

No,maybe you missed,i want a new Imac and while i'm waiting i'm discussin ,or tryin to do it,with friends the latest news i see.
Obviously nothing Imac related because Apple,MacRumors,9tophones..stay really silent except the new rumor about thinning 2013 laptops.

I feel sorry for whoemer joins this thread now and wishes to participate. Would you bother to read any of it?

Anyway: No apple store in NYC changed stock status today. All those that were out of stock got pushed one day.

By the way: resellers have only been completely out of stock since a week or so after the iPhone event. They have never been this much out of stock in this product cycle. But for some reason it all might have turned since amazon.com somehow got a huge shipment of iMacs.

It's a free world yes. That's means when you post useless crap, people have the freedom to call you bad things, like retard. I won't do that, but I'm saying there are consequences even with freedom. Also, there are other threads for your post. Also, it's in no way related to the 2012 iMac launch date, which this thread so obviously is about.

I always thought that "realize" is the correct spelling, not "realise" (although being not a native English speaking person, I could be wrong ...)

'Realise' is fine if you are really a native English speaker (from England!!), it's those pesky Americans that can't spell it properly! ( cf 'color'/colour' 'humour/humour' and so on ad nauseam)
Don't worry about it, I can still understand, the simpler children's English written by those across the water
( BTW this is supposed to be funny, it's dry English humour(?humor?))

We deliberately changed the spelling of our words to emphasize the divorce from Great Britain.

Deal with it homie

Keeping myself busy waiting... in the last few weeks -

iPad 3
Apple TV
iPhone 5

5 year old PC with 15 GB of space left on the hard drive. It's starting to run sloooowwwwwwwww.

I was so tempted to leave the Apple store with a 27" iMac when I bought my phone I'm going to do what I can to hold on for the new models. I keep my computers for years so I want the newest one available when I buy it.

I never should have visited these forums... The first time was a couple of years ago, and I was going to buy the SR MBP 17". Good times, I thought. Yellow screen issue, y'all roared. This time it's an iMac 21,5". Made a thread a few days ago, but since the rumors are extinct I might as well give you something to discuss in this thread too.

Getting an iMac for graphic design. 95% flat graphics: Adobe CS5/6 and perhaps Corel Draw. Can get the high end 21,5" (6770M, i7) for the same price as the low end 21,5" (6750M i5 2,5 GHz).

If 2012 isn't arriving next week, I'll have to buy the 2011 due to school. How would the 6770M and i7 do on CS6? There is nothing I HATE more than lag when I illustrate and create layouts. I am also planning on upgrading the RAM to 16 or 12 gb by myself.

Please help me, especially if you do a lot of work in CS5/6 yourself. I am really scared that the new ones will be incredibly much faster... And also, feel free to use Caps Lock while dissecting my grammar.

It's gonna lag like crazy.. you def want to wait for the new iMac :)

I love how we get MacBook Pro and airs 2013 rumors and nothing on the overdue iMacs this is crap

Only overdue according to some who convinced themselves the iMac should have been released as soon as Ivy Bridge was available.

Cook made it clear at All Things D that Apple wouldn't be refreshing products as frequently as it did in the past.

There's a difference between "not as often" and once every 2 year.

But why is it that a large section of the population still feels the Queen as their own and the UK/EIRE as their second home? American on the outise, British on the inside. Someone find me an example. Quick! The Range Rover? Sarah Ferguson? Quick, someone help me here.

To paraphrase what he said, Apple sees the innovation and money in iDevices, and those devices will demand constant updates. Innovation in the computer market is slowing, and not only does Apple see less need to update them as frequently, but consumers aren't demanding they do so either. Consumers want a new iPhone or iPad every year, but may go many years before upgrading their computer, and that trend is steadily growing.

No, but every year there will be consumers who want to upgrade, and those consumers will buy whatever is on market thats up to snuff. So ye lets say they change cycles to every 2nd year, then every year between Apple will lose market share, and regain it next year. Doesn't sound plausible to me, but still very possible.

I just don't see when the f Cook stated: we will update iMacs less frequently, in the AllthingsD interview, apparently he made this "very clear" so how did I/we miss it ?

Surely though the opportunity is growing share (still <10% of the PC market) rather than replacing/renewing existing machines. Failure to capitalise on the iToys halo effect would be akin to failing to capitalise when you have your opponent on the ropes.

Besides, try using iToys in a windows based environment. Much improved BUT still not as smooth as on a Mac.

True and very apple like. However I still kind of feel they should put one last push to desktop machine. Someone in some other thread said that once every few years there is a new standard coming out. Now its USB3 and you wouldnt want to miss out on it.

I remember my mom bought laptop that had USB port during the time when USB2 was rolling out but she opted for hers because it was cheaper and thought she wouldnt have much use for it. 2 years back everyone was using those thumbdrives for quick transfers.

I know that the gap in usability between USB2 and 3 doesnt seem that much, for lot of people it probably isnt. But you cant be sure how the handling of future data will change, having USB3 might prolong the life of machine (hear about lot of people using old PowerMac G4 with USB2 card installed as a Time Machine server).

So if Apple wants to update desktops once in a while,it makes sens but it'd be great to give us now very common standard before doing so.

It's not just that. Before IB, USB3 was already getting popular on PCs. A year and a half ago (about the same time the current iMac was released...) I told a friend to give me a USB disk to salvage some data from his dying laptop's hard drive, he didn't have one and had to buy one. He is a little clueless and the store gave him a USB3 disk, but I distinctly remember being amazed that it was only marginally more expensive than a USB2 disk.

Now all MBPs have USB3. All MBAs have USB3. The iMac and the Mac Mini (not to mention the Mac Pro) are not looking old compared to PC counterparts — they're looking old compared to their mobile siblings too.
Not many may know what Ivy Bridge is or whatever X123M video card is in them, but anyone doing a quick comparison about a MacBook Air and an iMac will notice it. And trust me, non-geeks are more likely to notice "USB 3.0" vs. "USB 2.0" than, say, "quad-core i7" vs. "dual-core i5" or "DDR3-1333" vs. "DDR3-1066".

Apple's kinda shooting itself in the foot with this.
