Double it

No. It needs to go to 3840x2400.

That number sounds right for the 17inch. Anything higher than 1900x1200 should be expected because a lot of high end pc's now offer that in 15inch laptops. 2880x1800 for the 15mpb and 3840x2400 for the 17mbp is very possible. At least Gizmodo is connecting the dots clearly in terms of retinaish displays. I just wish we were getting part leaks already. Only one month away until WWDC...

Returned the Macbook Pro that I bought from Microcenter yesterday. I can't justify spending $1500 on a computer, when a new one is supposedly coming out in the next month or two.

I just finished school for the summer and I have a desktop, so I don't need a laptop at the moment. The anti-glare screen on the mac was so nice though, so as soon as Apple puts up the new ones, I will be ordering with the Anti-Glare!

Haswell won't be that far off then, I guess if you're always going to wait for the next big thing you'll never buy anything.

Ivy Bridge/Haswell/Blah Blah doesn't matter to most of us waiting. Right now the processors are so far ahead of the software most people use it's a non discussion.

Most of us are waiting for stuff such as:

Better Battery Life, Retina/Higher Res Display, IPS, USB3.0, Bluetooth 4.0, Faster Wifi, Glare-free Glass, New design.

That's the stuff that will make people want the new macbook pros, not just a insignificant increase in processing power.

I agree. I'd be surprised if Apple did all of the above improvements in the update. I guess we'll see. :p

Retina Display on MBP won't be a great idea. lol? Yah, its nice to see a great images, ícons, movies, etc, but how about the websites? Most of them can't support full HD and its just 1920x1080.. How could be 2880x1600? It'll see veery tiny.

Webpages aren't veery tiny on an third gen iPad. The only thing that might be noticeable would be that images in webpages might not be as sharp as retina-ready graphics because they have to be scaled up to be normal size.

Well most the stuff on the list is a given since it just goes with the improvements found in the new technology. Retina and a redesign are debatable I guess. I'm not too bothered by a redesign though, increase the res to at least 1080p on the 15" and Apple has pretty much made my perfect macbook pro.

agreed.. 1080p is also all I am looking for.. if not then I stay in the PC world and pick up an loaded Dell or Sager machine. Hoping they do it, then they got me... I'll still be running dual OS.. win7/8 and Lion/MLion.. I need windows for Sony Vegas Pro.

I'm guessing battery life will stay around the same.

Higher resolution displays seem virtually certain at this point.

They have no good excuse to withhold USB 3.0 at this point, but will they? It wouldn't be the first time they've withheld something that seems like a no-brainer.

I think a Bluetooth spec bump is likely because the iPad 3 has BT 4.0. I hope that will open the door for its inclusion in all of Apple's other products.

No way will we see glare-free glass yet, IMO. It's too new and I doubt it's anywhere near ready for a rollout of this scale. I would love to see some sort of matte/AG option for the 13" MBP.

I might be in the minority here, but I love that MBP's still offer 16:10 displays. I love the extra vertical real estate and find it very handy for a lot of the work I do (software development).

You can pretty much assume it because the MacBook Air has it.

I wish Apple would use the upgrade to really differentiate the Pro 13 from the Air 13. I'd pay good money for a dedicated graphics card, higher-res anti-glare, 13 in the same body. Ideal laptop.

That's exactly why I'm waiting. *Also I wouldn't mind the MBP to run a little cooler. My thighs would thank me.

If this MacBook is a major redesign like the 2009 MacBook three years ago, implements USB 3.0 as lightspeed is pointless for flash drives, has Bluetooth 4.0, has anti glare screen as everything in my room glares even my iPad 3, has better graphics, features a bigger hard disk by default count me in.

So when is the next one coming out? Anyone have an idea? My laptop's LCD screen broke down yestrday and I was told it would cost ~ $200 to repair. Thats too much for an almost 3 year old laptop which has been giving me other problems so I figure Id just put that towards a brand new one and a friend has convinced me to consider a Macbook Pro. Its been a while since the last release , so one should be coming soon right? When does Apple usually update the line? I need this for work and school but I can try and do without one for a few weeks if one comes out within the next month

Time for some good old spec predictions I think, fill in the gaps:

13"/14"/15"/17" etc.
Anti-glare/no-anti-glare
_x_ Resolution
_Ghz Core i_ Ivy Bridge
_ Gb RAM
_ Gb HDD/SDD
Nvidia/ATI _ with _ Gb VRAM
Ports:

And a brief description of how you think the chassis will change.

And finally... $$$

I'm too out of touch with the latest tech this round to have a good shot myself.

I'm interested in a new 17" - either 1920x1200 or 3840x2400.

Do you guys think the 3840x2400 will happen?

If the current 17" is the last 17", does anyone know if it has enough video card to drive a 3840x2400 external?

I want a replicating Macbook Pro, one which beams me a cheeseburger or RedBull on demand...

I'll have a go at the base 15" (which is what I'm buying):

- 1680×1050 Standard / 1920x1200 HiRes Display Antiglare Option
- Ivy Bridge i7 2.3Ghz 3615QM
- 4GB Ram
- 128GB SSD / 256GB SSD Option / 500GB SSD Option
- AMD 7750m 1GB VRAM
- No ODD (Superdrive)
- 3x USB3 (2 on left one where the ODD was), 1x Thunderbolt, 1x Firewire 800 (no Ethernet will supply USB3 connector)
- 10 Hour battery, BT 4.0, Wifi 802.11 AC

Price will be the same, maybe a bit cheaper since they are dropping the Superdrive (mac mini dropped in price when they removed the superdrive)

I'm not sure about how they could redesign it, looks amazing as it is, assume slightly thinner, perhaps a slight taper like macbook air just not as much.

I've been fairly realistic, retina is 50/50 but a higher res all round is extremely likely. I think they won't offer a normal HDD option and will expect people to either pay Apple for upgrade or DIY.

The Macbook Air "feels" faster than a top end macbook pro just because of the standard ssd vs hdd so I think just for wow factor they will stick to ssd. Of course in reality the MBP is faster when you throw something demanding at it but the average customer comparing application load times and responsiveness in an Apple shop is going to be more impressed with the Air.

According to the manager at my local Apple store, he sells a ton of 17" MBPros, and does not believe for a second the rumors that Apple will stop making it.
