I just can't see the MacBook Pro with a redesign this Summer let alone a Retina display. With around a month to go I'm sure we would've seen some leaks regarding a possible redesign.

Just as a quick question, anyone know how much the current display in the MacBook Pro 15 (Low Res and High Res) cost and how much a 15' Retina Display would cost?

:apple:

I hope they add 802.11AC, that would be really nice.

What 802.11ac brings over 802.11n ? Nearly nothing... 50 Mbps bump for theorical max speed, more Mimo support and 80 Mhz/160 MHz over 20/40 Mhz... ************* marketing.

I'm going through laptop withdrawal. I haven't used one since 2010 and it is driving me up the wall having to be stuck to my desktop computer and not being able to move. I am wondering– considering this LONG wait for a refresh–if I should just go ahead and by a mbp right now. The biggest thing I need is the portability of a lap top and the ports of the 13 mbp as opposed to the air. So the current model is fine for my needs. I can't wait any longer than august, and that's coming up pretty quickly. Come on apple, hurry up!

If you can wait until August then wait. Should be definitely before then.

You should probably do more research.

You're a birther and truther too, right? :D

Remember this post as the 29th goes by with no update....

Dear east85: I just wanted to check in almost a month later and say:

Well from the icons being updated to higher res ones I can bet you a retine or HD screen is on the cards. Im a bit skeptical about battery life for these though as batteries never last as long apple say they do so I reckon this 1st gen redesign could be an absolute pig!

Still no news on anything regarding the rumoured MBP update; I'm glad I bought my MBP last week, waiting for the newest is silly XD

I would agree with you but this time I chose to wait as well since I'll be going to University abroad and I'll need as good laptop as I can get since it will be my primary computer for 2-3 years.

I'm sure you're happy about your purchase now, but in a few weeks we will see who feels that they made the "silly" decision.

Unless you absolutely need a laptop now, there's no point in paying over a thousand dollars for something that will be refreshed in a month or two.

I see. Well, it depends on what the improvements are I guess. I bought now because the current models are fine and they suit my needs and a first gen re-design can cause problems.

It will be interesting whether you will still be here posting either in this thread or on the entire board at all when Apple announce the Macbook Pro at WWDC.

Not really. Why wait for the 2012 models when the 2015 models are going to be even better?
That's a stupid question. I'm waiting for a 2012 because of the improvements it brings to my current MacBook pro. A 2011 model isn't much different than my own. It's not an issue of chasing the latest processor, it's just smart buying. Would you buy an iPhone 4s in September? Absolutely not. Because a new and better phone at the same price is coming out in a month. This is no different. Sure, if you absolutely need a laptop now then buy one. But if you're not in immediate need of a laptop it's flat out stupid to spend the exact same amount of money on a laptop that's worse than one coming out soon.

Sure I will still be here. What will stop me from buying the 2012 model? Absolutely nothing.
