Not everyone is an idiot for buying a macbook pro now! Not everyone is out for the latest and greatest thing... If you are sensible then you get what you need at the time.
The current gen Macbook pros will be great laptops still for years to come! I find it pretty disgusting that the majority of people these days that want to buy into Apple for a laptop buy the 13" Macbook pro just for browsing the web and taking a few photos off their point and shoot digital camera! Why the hell do you need a computer of that spec for that?

Computers now are just a fashion statement 'Buy the latest thing or you will be sorry!'

Well im sorry but unless you actually use the thing properly for design based purposes or music production etc etc then you are a knob for waiting anyway!

You're totally right.

Why buy a Mercedes when you can buy a 1995 Ford Mondeo which will match your use. Mercedes should be for people who go test tracks. Everybody else who buys a Mercedes just for going to work and back are knobs!

From the front page article:
"Under OS X 10.7.3, the TextEdit icon file included four different image sizes: 16x16, 32x32, 128x128, and 512x512. With the move to OS X 10.7.4, the icon now comes in ten different sizes: 16x16, 32x32 HiDPI, 32x32, 64x64 HiDPI, 128x128, 256x256 HiDPI, 256x256, 512x512 HiDPI, 512x512, and 1024x1024 HiDPI."

Notice how they added new resolutions that aren't HiDPI. That probably means they plan to keep non-HIDPI as an option if you want more screen estate.

good call

Do you think Apple have taken the approach they did to Mountain Lion.

Do a selected view have the new Macbook Pro's (or whatever they are to be called ) already.

The reason there are no rumours is that people like John Gruber etc may already have them but dare not talk about them yet.

That would be cool!

I don't like the fashion side to computing either - but I just look stand, watch and laugh to my self quietly, rather than yelling knob from the sidelines.

You are both correct but remember this: Apple computers aside from being very powerful are also very easy to use and thus attractive. Apple needs the money from sales to these people to keep making great products.

Remember the stray iPhone 4?

Since then apple has been quite good at keeping things secret.

Sure I will still be here. What will stop me from buying the 2012 model? Absolutely nothing.

You've finally lost me. So you wait for new MBP, become impatient and buy 2011 one. Then you come to the forums to tell everyone waiting that they are silly and try to justify your own purchase, then turn around and say you're going to sell and upgrade from a few weeks old computer to the new one which you were originally waiting for and lose money in the process...

Yes... a wise financial move on his part.

He's just trying to justify his dumb purchase. But before doing so, he was desperately trying to justify holding out for the 2012s. If you read the last 20-50 pages of this thread I'm sure you'll notice it, as will everyone else.

Before pulling the trigger on his 13" he was contemplating getting 17"s, then down to 15"s. Its no wonder why his posts keep getting down voted.

Seems like a kid with a compulsion to buy something (desperately), nothing more.

So if apple would put in a retina display, wouldn't that require a bigger battery and make it heavier?

Naturally this post is based on assumptions. But if we are to see a retina display, we will probably see the ODD dropped and the hard drive replaced with flash storage. That would probably negate the weight gain of a bigger battery.

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks

What am I missing, on the Apple site....says "The new MacBook Pro". Are these just new words or did they change something?

in the apple world a product is new until it is update, in which case it continues to be new. apple products are nearly always new.

the only non new apple products you will find on the main store are the ipad 2, and the older iPhones.

if only there was a 'new' macbook pro....

Am I the only one who actually don't really want Macbook Pro redesign just a bit thinner and Ivy Bridge?

Also why do you all think that Macbook Pro 13'' has bad screen, I use 22'' Full HD monitor for my pc and it has less PPI then 13'' Pro.

what do you mean by this:

What I mean is that this link that was posted here - http://nvonews.com/2012/05/13/macbook-pro-2012-will-come-with-major-upgrades/ points out that new Macbook Pro will be complete redesign and even though Apple always have awesome designs I'm a bit scared that I won't like new Macbook Pro design as much as I love old one. I even like Pro design better then Air, if only it would be a fraction thinner.

E: Sorry for my bad english.

More rumors about the iPhone 5 are surfacing. We may well see the iPhone 5 being released before the new MacBook Pros and even during the WWDC. We're one month away from WWDC, where are all the rumors about the brand-new MBPs? I guess we may not see an update before late Summer.

I somehow thought that the WWDC conference had turned into an iPhone 5 unveiling after all thats all what Apple cares about nowadays anyway and it wouldn't be a WWDC each year if there wasn't something to do about a new iPhone and new iPad or iOS update!
