If they are (allegedly) making it ultra-thin, does that mean it will eventually merge with the Air and we will have one MacBook model to rule them all?

And what would they call it? Just MacBook and then have many versions raging from student/consumer to professional?

All these rumors are really making me excited for WWDC. One thing I wish a rumor would mention, though, is switching over from TN to IPS displays along with the Retina Display. That would be awesome!

I was under the impression that IPS would be 100% certain.

To all you people whining about not having a HDD but a SSD, there are external drives that are super fast(USB 3). Just beacause you need the room doesn't mean we all do.

I'm concerned about how little storage the SSD will provide. The price on SSD's have decreased tremendously in the past few years, but they're still many times more expensive than traditional HDD's and if Apple intends to equip every new MBP's with SSD's, how little are they going to provide?

I'm not a harddrive hog by any means, but at the very least I'd like a modest 200GB or so of storage, instead of the probable 128 GB or less. And don't tell me 200GB makes me a hog, if you don't use anywhere near that much than grats, but most of us do on average, many who uses even more.

SSD Boot I Think

I can see there being an SSD for booting then the choice of having HDD or SSD like the current options. The tech is there to produce large SSD storage but not for any price the consumer and even professional would like to spend. Hopefully they bring quad-core to the 13" then I may have to live in poverty for a while to invest in a TD! :D

I get the space concern, as for a power user 128GB is a bit too little(had to live with a 120GB drive on my main pc last year and it was always full), but I think that its time to move on, as the speed gain from SSD is tremendous. Besides, I'm quite certain that the 15" and 17" will include a 256GB SSD in the base model, which should be sufficent for everyone not in the video/audio/photo editing industry, but there you would need more than 500GB anyways.

Hi ,
is there any chance to see new macbook pro in wwdc ?
i was think it will not released until October but i see every one this day waiting for wwdc & new macbook pro

I don't think 200gb makes you a hog. I have more than 200gb of porn on my laptop, so I'm bricking it at the thought of having a terribly low SSD.

Page 95:

Honestly I think it is obvious that if the new line of all macs has not been filed yet, it is for several reasons, that gathering all the information we know, could be summarized as:

1. The non-availability of new processors IB for some models of MBP and MBA.

2. The public presentation of Mountain Lion, but the new Macs do not think they will leave from the beginning with ML, I think Apple wants to make your presentation as it deserves in one of the new Macs at WWDC in order to show all possibilities and sell not one but two products that will make the impact greater.

3. The "redesign" of the whole line. I will focus on the range MBP, which are what interest me. We've been going with rumors of new laptops out every month of the year and still waiting. In my opinion, this are good news and should not to be treated in a simple HW update, because if so, with the new IB already on the market, at this point would have seen the launch of some products of the range a few weeks ago. Putting a little logic and gathering all the information we have, we can imagine that we do not expect a radical redesign, rather, I think that it will be a important and necessary redesign according to the continuity that is following Apple. This would be; keep the optical drive, increased battery, new processors, stylish design lines 'Air' softer and thinner body and weight, and last, the point that generate to me more doubts, Retina displays. It would make non-sense that with the imminent presentation of ML with support HDPi resolutions, the new MBP have 'standard' resolution and not take advantage of this OS functionality until many months or a year.

So in my opinion the shots can go through here, and the delay is due to this reasons, so do not despair in the meantime, but of course, is only my humble opinion. In a few months we will see who was less wrong.

Who is this guy? ****ing genius!!!

well you can get a thunderbolt SSD drive too.. whiny

As I am not sure what MacBook to get 13 or 15 inch will all models get the rumored retana display the new slim design, USB 3.0 etc also to speculate which model will see the most improvements in terms of graphics and cpu performance on a final note will mountain lion come installed on all new machines.

correct me if i'm wrong, but am i correct in thinking that the new images of the macbook pro don't have a SD card slot?

Personally I can't see how they would update only the 15 and 17 with Retina displays and not the 13; their best selling MBP. I certainly hope not anyway because I want the 13.

Good point, which I don't know the answer to :D
What possible advantage could there be to removing this? For example, we know removing the ODD and Ethernet port will allow the new redesign to be thinner.

No, you're going to have to wait a while for the 2012 returns to show up. With people not liking the new redesign, they're going to be buying the late 2011 refurb for a low price.

If you go back to the source of these most recent mockups they show an SD card slot on the other side:

Anyone believe the 17" will get released on the same day as all the rest?
Assuming there is a 17 that is...

Ive been waiting so long for this update that i need the best!

I think Apple is really trying to do too much. Why does it have to be that much thinner? I understand removing the ODD, I never touch mine and it's a blue ray drive. But why the ethernet port? If I'm spending over 1k I don't want to have to go buy an accessory for something that should be included. Also if they add a SSD without a HDD that'll be another fail. Unless they add a 750gb SSD which will make the price crazy.

Like I said earlier in here, unless this is a crazy upgrade, I'm just going to buy the current generation one whenever the Ivy Bridge ones release. I really want that retina screen though :(

I would think so. It seems a bit pointless to have this new redesign launch at WWDC but it only involve the 15" (which is all that is being mentioned in the rumours at present).

I use my Ethernet port less than my ODD on my current laptop. Why is Ethernet needed when there's wireless?

IMO an HDMI port should come as standard, especially when spending £1k. But unfortunately it's not is it.

YES! HDMI definitely should come standard, I've mentioned that in here as well.

But for one my wifi isn't as stable as ethernet is in my house. And not every place I go has wifi, some buildings that I have to visit during work don't have wifi. And the simple fact that I don't want to be limited, if you're paying premium prices you shouldn't be limited to just wifi and digital downloads.

Now I'm sure someone will correct my lack of knowledge on this but is it a case of if the ODD goes then the Ethernet must go too? Surely one of their selling points of removing the ODD is to make the new model thinner. If the ODD somehow stays then there's no point removing the Ethernet because it's not doing any harm on the side of the machine.

I guess I can't complain too much. If I wasn't getting a MBP I'd probably go with Lenovo and their new X1 doesn't have ethernet either.

If they did release for sale, say, in mid June, when would it be reasonable to expect refurbs to show up for the new models?

I played this waiting game for the past two 2011 refreshes. They start to show up around 90 days after the launch.
