I hope a another macbook rumour dispels the previous rumour of the 13 inch macbook, with only 5 mere days till WWDC bring on the rumours, it is a shame though that todays rumours were for the mac pro guys ah well maybe tomorrow.

I hope so, that leak made me disappointed! I'm sure we will have some new rumors before WWDC, there always is! :apple:

lmao i love that futurama episode, but this $3,000 rumour is from the same source who ironically claims that there will be no significant changes to the 13inch macbook, my guess is that these rumours are just rumours and will never see the light of day.

With economic instability Apple will lose on product sales for such a hefty price. Should apple increase the price it won't be more than $200.00 realistically for the addition of the retina display and new hardware.

Besides if the macbook 15inch is $3,000 what would this source claim the 17inch will cost 4,000??? or is this another hint that Apple is dropping the 17inch in the next iteration.

My ideal 15" MacBook pro customized from the online apple store right this minute is 3,675. The only thing that sounds off is no ssd - unless they make it a cheap upgrade from the hdd, maybe only 500 more.

$3178 before taxes, 17" MBP, then upgrade memory and storage post-purchase.

As if that ever stopped Apple product sales...

That 3,675 is with the cheapest ram you can configure ( would upgrade it to 16gb) and I'd still have to mod the DVD drive bay with a hdd ;)

Well. It will cost me about $5000 for my new MBP's initial set up, plus another $1k or so for the peripherals  :)

Lol are you people high?

There is no way Apple is going to charge $3000 for this laptop. Even with a retina display the price increase should be within $100 dollars.

Seriously, it seems anyone can post any random, groundless rumor and the entire community believes it and starts raging. Just shut up.

I bet that Chinese kid is laughing his ass off about those spec rumors he posted too.

Thank you.

Downvoting go!

Thank God, some sense!

Also, the guy who posted the 13" disappointing specs posted 15" specs which are clearly false (sandy bridge CPUs). Go credibility! When inquired about the possibility of his friend getting found out and fired for leaking info, he said his friend had resigned already. That just triggers my BS trigger and makes me not believe his 13" info.

I think apple has to come up with something really awesome in order to match it's competitors.
It looks like more company's have found 'the key' to a small footprint combined with max power.

Asus Zenbook UX32VD
- i7-3517u
- geforce 620m
- 13" 1920x1080 IPS non-glare screen
- 3x usb3 ports + hdmi
- 7+ hours battery

Gigabyte U2442V
- i7-3517u
- geforce 640m 2gb ddr5 (!)
- 14" 1600x900
- 128gb ssd msata + 750gb to 1tb HDD (!)
- 2x usb3 + 2x usb2, thunderbolt, HDMI

Even acer manages to fit a 640m and i7 in a 14" chassis, and claims a battery life around 8 hours..

If apple would get specs like that AND a LV i7 quad core, I'm all over it!
It would a killer notebook.
And if even they can get it in a 13" form factor, apple could do even better..
I would not mind if there won't be a retina display, but give them at least a 1600x900 (13") and 1920x1080 (15") resolutions.

Well, I think we know who is responsible for that...

On a serious note, would be interesting (if you like that sort of thing) to see aggregation data from high frequency threads. Like who is the most frequent visitor and number of visits, ditto number of posts / characters. Data protection regulations may prevent such granularity but even simple things like application of the 80:20 rule would be quite telling in my view.

Certainly can serve a practical purpose as well, comparing what sort of interest new product launches generate to help gauge likely demand...

It would indeed be interesting, I know how many of the daily hits are my own constant refreshes, perhaps it could also serve to make me realise I'm not the only one attached to this like an IV, it's only been recently I've started posting but I've been on this forum most every day for longer than I can recall now!

I quit smoking, and joined macrumors.

Second that.
(except for the quit smoking part)

Third that, yet still smoking while checking macrumors. Every time I smoke, I end up checking this. So at a rate of a pack a day, you do the math.

Agreed! And thanks for the tips! Apple will have to be very careful with its new line of macs or may loose me!

$3000 is way too much for a laptop with the specs the 15" is going to have. This isn't 2006 where the MBP was the only laptop with good build quality, this is 2012 where other companies are making laptops out of carbon fibre, magnesium, aluminium, gorilla glass and still 30-40% cheaper than a MBP.

Take a look at notebookreview.com, Apple is a tiny blip in the sea of Windows based premium laptops, increasing the price is only going to make that blip get much smaller.

I don't see the point. Toyota Corolla is the world's best selling car. It does not make it an amazing car, nor a car that I want to buy. I never worry about what the majority of people do, unless it impacts me directly (like voting in an imbecile to be president). It would be a boring world if everyone was content with being Mr Average-Part-of-Majority.
