So, we'll have a MacBook Pro Air (or Air Pro) and a MackBook Pro Classic?:confused::confused:

Probably the "new" Macbook Pro Air will only have a HD4000 instead of Nvidia Graphics, onboard RAM and SSD, but a Retina Display...

And the Classic one will have discrete Graphics, user replaceble RAM and HDD, but will retain the Superdrive and the old bad displays........

This would be the worst case, as it wouldnt answer neither my wishes....

Don't do that Apple!!

There will only be Macbook Pro and Macbook Air line. Both having three types of computers. Pro: 13, 15 and 17 inch. Air: 11, 13 and 15 inch.

That makes sense for ya all?

Where will you all be watching/following the keynote? The Macrumors coverage, or have you found yourselves a livestream, or what?

I agree with that :(

Is it just me, or is time slowing down? The last hour has seemed like a day :(

However, getting rid of the 17" all together would cause them to lose this niche of "actual professionals." These people would simply go the PC rout.

Yawn. Define the word professional and which people you think should be allowed to use it? Professional golfer maybe? Professional DJ? Or how about a professional builder?

Maybe Apple are trying to get rid of all the tools who think they should have their own little Pro Club!

they won't be compelled to buy an iPhone or an iPad or anything else Apple makes for that matter.

What a load of rubbish (imo!).

But I need that extra 2" to be a REAL PRO.

What is the big hype around the 17"? 2" hardly seems like it's a deal breaker for video/photo editors etc. Surely if they do drop the 17" you can just go and buy either an iMac or the 15"? I fail to see why people are crying over the 17" to such an extent.

Agreed.

I consider myself somewhat of a professional (actually a neuroscientists), I've never needed anything more than an 15" MPB and and use my 11" MBA for on the go work. At times, I do some pretty intensive work. It's ridiculous to say the 17" MPB is the professionals choice... If I had the choice between a 17" laptop from Dell (or the such), I'd take a 15" MPB any day of the week...

Once more... agreed.

It is rather idiotic to say real professionals use 17" screens. Surely real professionals use the tools necessary for the job? Development takes up a portion of my work and I can't think of anything better than a 15" laptop connected to a massive external monitor... 13" too small, 17" too cumbersome.

Not even 2" as the 15" is actually 15.4"

I'd actually like a 17'', I'm in no particular way a professional, but I was planning to get a bit of gaming time out of it. 2 inches is just that more awesome than the 15''.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to a retina display and if they don't come out with either a 15'' or a 17'' with high PPI, I'm probably going to get an Alienware or MSI.

I'm sure there's going to be a redesigned Mac with a stunning Retina display!
Think about it, why would Apple wants to announces something old and uninteresting? They can do it on the Apple website, just like last year right? (MacBook Pro in Feb, iMac in May, Air and mini in July)

Who's with me? :D

I am!

Yup. Like i said we don't know what it will be called yet. Air, Macbook,MBP? But I do know the current form factor MBP is being phased out. Componet costs for the new model are just too high, once they come down to the current MBP prices, that current design will be gone.

I am thinking the whole MBP line with that design is being phased out. Two years tops. Or less. I am betting on the new line when that happens on being called just Macbooks. Essentially merging the Air and Macbook Pro lines.

i have a bad feeling about this wwdc. i reckon its going to be

iOS 6
Mountain Lion
iCloud

same old..?

and inbetween minor spec bumps for macbooks

What time would we expect the online Apple Stores to go down if there are new products being announced?

Sounds reasonable, except that all I've been reading suggests that the new "ProAir" will have retina, but the spec-bumped current design won't. However, the "ProAir" form-factor would be lower spec CPU- and GPU-wise due to heat considerations so it would seem a really odd thing to give the lower spec machine retina and not the higher spec one

the memory for the new laptop might be soldered on. As like in the Macbook Air. But that it will be ample RAM right off the bat.

Reason being that he can see part numbers but for 8GB and 16GB ram.

Oh no! That's actually one of the things I was afraid of as soon as I heard this thinning of the Pro chassis. But I also hope your source is right about the 16gb. But it makes me sweat thinking of Apple's BTO prices if this would only be available through BTO :(. Nevertheless, I am in the minority that thinks Kuo's information (based on his accurate track record) is quite close to what we'll see in a few hours. I wanna see how drool-worthy that thinner 15" Macbook is, how Retina affects battery life, how cheaper the legacy Pros will be so I can jump on the Pro with 2.6GHz and 650M with excellent battery life. I might lean towards the thinner 15" if it has identical CPU and GPU as the thicker 15"; and if its bigger battery will lead it to have identical battery life despite its Retina, in comparison to its thicker low-res sibling. Thanks for the tip. Please keep 'em coming if you have more.
