From the current crop of rumors, it looks like my prediction from April (quoted below) is still pretty close to the mark -- although there's a chance the new line might be introduced today as well:

MBA updated by late summer: Retina display, Ivy Bridge, generally higher specs.

MBP update sometime in the next few months: Ivy Bridge and spec updates, including possibly a discrete GPU for the 13", but with an ODD and all ports and features still intact. No retina yet - I think that's still a year off for MBPs. Possibly BTO option to replace the ODD with an SSD. 17" model maybe still supported in this refresh, but it may be the last one. No format redesign.

The new line in the fall - THIS is where they'll drop the ODD and do a new redesign. Think along the lines of the 13" MBA with a hard drive or SSD, expandable RAM, and GPUs. Maybe no Ethernet. Might be retina display if large retina display prices are cheap enough by then. Probably the machine some of you have been wishing for with the MBP - at a lower cost.

I still have a really tiny hope that that the MBP's ODD will be upgraded to a Blu-Ray drive, but since there's not even been a rumor of that, I'm thinking it won't happen. But as I've been saying for months, the ODD isn't likely to go away any time time soon, no matter how many people here really hate it...

MC976LL/A – MBP 15.4/2.6/8GB/512GB FLASH-USA
MD831LL/A – MBP 15.4/2.7/16GB/768GB FLASH-USA
We’ve been told that these will not be cheap and even pass the $4000 equivalent mark on the high end in some countries. Who’s going to throw down for these?

While double the RAM and 512GB SSDs on the new Airs is something interesting, I think a lot of us have been focused in on the Retina MacBook Pros.

Well, here they are:

MC975LL/A – MBP 15.4/2.3/8GB/256GB FLASH-USA
MC976LL/A – MBP 15.4/2.6/8GB/512GB FLASH-USA

That seems a lot better as far as specs if the graphics card is up to date. We'll just have to wait I guess.

umm.. what about the 13"? (the best selling macbook)
been left in the dust for Air to swarm and take over?

Yeah what about the 13" pro? retina display? was the sticker with the specs leaked last week real?
I only care about the macbook pro 13" can someone tell me what are the specs of the new new model?

This was posted a few pages back, though I don't really understand. The new MB and the MBP have the same specs except the MB (to be released in August) is slimmer with retina, yet their the same price

Either way, we'll find out in just a couple hours:D

It's pretty easy to understand. The MacBooks are thinner, have a retina display, and larger battery, but do not have an ODD, Ethernet or Firewire port, and may have lower base memory or HDD space. The MBPs have everything the MacBooks lack, but not the Retina display, and the current battery since they don't have the extra room for more battery.

Think of it as a marketing test -- Apple would love to get rid of the ODD, Ethernet port, and Firewire port, but there's no marketing data at all available to them about how many people actually need those. After a year or two with these lines, they'll have a much better idea, and will either be able to drop the Pro line, or will learn that there ARE people who need them and will start differentiating it and adding more to it instead.

trustedreviews.co.uk predicting the 13 incher will stick with 1280x800 but get Ivy bridge internals. While everything else bar the 17incher will get retina style displays.

Poor form IMO if true. 1280x800 is behind the times now. Even on 13 inch screen it looks far from sharp. The MBA's 1440x900 looks much better, despite only being a small bump.

They even mention resolution bumps on the iMacs.... the 27inch already has 2560x1440, how much is a higher res one of those gonna cost!

Well at my work our monitors are 19" with the ridiculous resolution of 1280x1024 *facepalm*

That has been the standing rumor for a couple of weeks now. Some suggest it will be an education only offering that is cheaper.

Yeah that's what we've been expecting for a while sadly. The updated 13 inch is rumoured to come in August. I wouldn't mind that if they put a retina display in the air, but I think that's an unrealistic expectation.

Amazon?

Anyone care to speculate how long before Amazon will have new notebooks in stock and begin selling? *I have a $500 gift card from them.

Thanks...
