You say this like its a fact, when you imply things are facts, it is preferrable to add a source.

well you would think it would be a given seeing as apple isn't just going to offer one possessor for the 13" mbp they are going to wait for intel to release dual core i5's or i7's to give greater options to the consumer

If you havnt been living under a rock, there have been news all over the place about the Ivy launch, which states that dual cores will come later, probably in June.

It's also a possibility that they could wait for the dual core i5/i7 procs for the airs and maybe use the quads in the pros specifically. Eh but who knows, just have to wait and see :p

Thats my point, you would think it was given, sure, but it isnt given, it may be likely but its still speculation. Saying it like it is indeed fact may mislead some people. Sure, no big harm, but neither was my comment about it.

Yeah, and if you havent been living under a rock, you also know that no facts regarding which processors will be used has yet been released, thus making a claim what the 13" wont be released yet faulty, when its just speculation, like the rest of us.

Keep on dreaming that the 13" will get quads across the board, just saying.

If the mbp is updated with USB 3.0, will the thunderbolt display get the upgrade at the same time? I've got USB 3 drives that I'd like to dock in the display and then have that connected through to the new laptop.

What do you mean? Do you ask if they will work with your current TB Display or if they will release a USB 3 TB Display at roughly the same time?

No updates so far. Will some update be released on Thursday? I understand that the dual-core processors are not available yet, but Apple could at least update its iMac line. And perhaps when the dual-core processors come in June, we may see a brand-new line of computers merging MBAs and MBPs with powerful processors, SSDs, retina displays and a good battery life...

When it comes to the iMac ive only seend rumors saying summer... compared to rumors about mbps etc, saying april-june, so likely iMacs wont be come before summer, thats ofc just speculation, but it seems they update the laptops more frequently than the desktops so it wouldnt be too suprising. However I agree in terms of that there is no real point in waiting more, if they have the components.

Yes, the components for the iMac are already there: Ivy Bridge and the new family of AMD video cards. In addition, it's been almost a year (357 days in fact) since Apple last updated the iMac. And if they just do a spec bump (which I think it will be the case), it may be a silent update.

As for the MacBook Pro, I really think that a redesign is about to happen, and that would require a media event...

I guess we will see, hopefully SOON! :D

Thursday.

Mmmhmm, the other day you stated:

April 24th

Take it to the bank.

no updates across the board, no announcements of events, no lag in shipping dates, not gonna happen until late May or June. Not because of Ivy, but Apple is probably waiting for something a little bigger than just an Ivy upgrade... At least we hope.

I assume it has to be the "retina," as this is becoming the new Apple standard. Maybe it's simply the lack of Dual cores and releasing the 13" and 15" at the same time. However, CNet reported that intel is keeping up with demand (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-5...ially-rolls-out-ivy-bridge-chip/?tag=mncol;2n) It also said that PC would be the first, meaning that apple will lag behind a little for some other reason...

Regardless I hope the 17" rumor turns out false, otherwise an update means nothing to me, because I will be buying a 17" regardless...

Where does it say Pc's first Macs late in that link? I cant find it. :)

"Where does it say Pc's first Macs late in that link? I cant find it."

Correct that one does not say, but this one (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33642_7-57418879-292/ivy-bridge-pcs-the-first-wave/?tag=mncol;1n) also from CNet states that PC's are first. Sorry for the confusion. Thought about posting it prior too, just decided against it. It is seen running on Asus and Origin comps. It never says macs are late, just that PC's are first ones they got a hold of...

But with everyone expecting a MBP update on the day of Ivy release, and their no release 4/24 (mostly accepted.) It breads the assumption that they are waiting for something a little more... Remember that Apple released Thunderbolt on the day of release, and that was one of the major updates to that cycle. So if they did not release on the release date that again breeds the assumption that they could be waiting for something more.

I also believe that there will be no form factor change (not what I was hoping for) as there has been no leeks of new cases or case covers.

P.S. - I do know what assumption means = making an a## of you and me... But isn't that what MacRumors are anyway...

Dont think alot of people expected an update on releaseday, more like hoping, and more like hoping that it will come soon after. And as you say, it doesnt say anything about Mac not coming yet, just says "we have a few windows-laptops to review atm". :)

Fact that Ivy Bridge "supports" USB 3.0 does NOT mean Tim & Co. will use it. We're talking about Apple after all :(

I noticed that HP have announced their ivy bridge desktops for release 29th of April...
I know these are desktops but hey Apple prob won't like being pipped to a release so could be a good sign :)

But still, USB is fairly standard now and there seems to be a rather high demand, alot of devices etc. I would be more suprised if it wasnt there than if it was.

The shop I work at received the HP DV7-7080 (Core i7-3610QM, 8GB DDR3, 2x1TB HDD, GeForce GT 630M 2GB, Blu-Ray burner) today and I quickly ran the 32-bit Geekbench test on it.. I don't know if anyone cares about the results but I figured I might post the link here for those who do. :)

No deliveries of the desktop systems yet but if they show up I'll run a benchmark on those as well..

10 000 looks nice. My Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15 scores 8750 with Windows 7 and 10 000 running OS X Snow Leopard.

I think we will see the ODD dropped and Apple offer as an option two drives, they will offer the SSD drives like the Air uses or the mSATA system up to 256GB, and then it will offer up to 750GB hard drives too.
No idea about the screen, Ivy Bridge is a given obviously, up to 16GB memory also as an option, and I think they'll stick with AMD graphics too. Maybe the new 7900m or 7800m chips announced the other day as they now have AMD's version of automatic graphics card switching.
I also think they will offer the same or slightly better battery life then the current models.
