an almost interesting top 10 grid though:

1 1 Sebastian Vettel Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:22.318 1:28.166 1:25.425 25
2 10 Lewis Hamilton Mercedes 1:23.801 1:27.649 1:25.512 31
3 17 Valtteri Bottas Williams-Renault 1:23.446 1:28.419 1:25.897 30
4 9 Nico Rosberg Mercedes 1:23.840 1:28.420 1:26.008 32
5 2 Mark Webber Red Bull Racing-Renault 1:23.247 1:28.145 1:26.208 30
6 3 Fernando Alonso Ferrari 1:23.224 1:28.788 1:26.504 30
7 18 Jean-Eric Vergne STR-Ferrari 1:24.159 1:28.527 1:26.543 32
8 15 Adrian Sutil Force India-Mercedes 1:24.551 1:28.799 1:27.348 29

9 7 Kimi Räikkönen Lotus-Renault 1:24.451 1:28.667 1:27.432 32
10 19 Daniel Ricciardo STR-Ferrari 1:24.770 1:29.359 1:27.946 31

p.s. i really hope webber doesn't win but if he is the only option to vettel winning... then go webbo!

You know the result of Monaco, right?

Of course. However a circuit where nobody can do much passing is different from today's race. I think it will be difficult for Hamilton to chase down Vettel and don't expect to much competition from the third place man!

Best hope is Alonso pulls a blinder at the start (which he often does) and takes the fight to Vettel. Either way lets hope there is lots of scraps right down the field.

over half way 17+ seconds lead for vetted. crap. webber has a messed up wing. mebbe alonso around him... also fastest lap for alonso.

^Yup. Lots of action from 2nd down. Gorgeous day and a great track. Just keep wondering why nobody can keep up with Vettel. Ok, he is a great driver...I'll give him his due. Is he better than Alonso or Kimi or Hamilton, well in that particular car he sure is. Makes me wonder what Red Bull has going in that car. I'm a bit suspicious. Cheers

Dam you Vettel! Still lots of other action going on. A good race to watch, even if the result was not the best in terms of the championship.

honestly, if that race goes on another 10 laps Alonso might've caught him. or, if Alonso had qualified a little higher or gotten around one or two more cars at the start.

Alonso was Man Of The Race imho.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda. Not so sure bout him catching Vettel. As to the man of the race.....seems like that could be Masa. Least according to the announcers. He was making a pretty good charge. There's always next week, at least for a little while. Cheers

Was it me or was the crowd at the podium heckling Vettel?

I thought they were chanting "A-lon-so"

It is getting tiring to see Vettel dominate. This is beginning to feel like 2011 again. Also Red Bull complains about the "safety" of the tires, Pirelli makes changes, and then Red Bull goes out and dominates and Lotus struggles. Hmmm...

Unfortunately, thought the race was a bit... boring.

You could see Hamilton getting caught and passed waaaay ahead of time.

Massa did a nice job initially, then seemed to plateau.

Meh, sadly enough.

Yeah, once he realized he wasn't going to get past Sutil without another accident he bided his time. I also think with Massa's view of Sutil's rear wing he thought Sutil's race was going to end at any moment.

The Mercedes/Pirelli 'tribunal' is today. Let's hope the result doesn't hasten Mercedes withdrawal from the sport. At least Honda is coming back

A mate at work was at RAF Scampton yesterday (home of the red arrows) and Hamilton was there with last years car doing a piece for the BBC. Didn't get to see the driver but got some lovely shots of the car. I'll share if I can get hold of them. Also got to sit in it as well. Lucky git!

Sad to see Mark Webber leaving F1

Hopefully Webbo can win a few more races before his F1 exit. I will greatly miss Webber.

I'm sure he'll have great success as long as Porsche is committed to winning at Le Mans.

Maybe this will mean he will go out guns blazing because he has nothing to lose within RBR with regards to The Finger. But he is too much of a gentleman to be aggressive for the sake of being aggressive.

Yes I'll miss Mark. I hope he gets replaced by someone who can put Vettel in his place. I would love to see him be the no 2 driver.

Predictions for this weekend? I would love one of the Briys to win it but can't see it going to any of them. Red bull 1 & 2 me thinks.

I think you are right, unfortunately. I think the tide really changed in Canada. I can easily see the Finger winning at least half of the rest of the races this season :(

Lotus doesn't look to be able to regain its early season pace. Ferrari is always just a step or two behind and even the best driver, Alonso, can't make that up. Mercedes is fast but can't reliably make their tires last. And their drivers are going to take points off each other.

The last year of this normally aspirated era is going to be all Vettel, again. Arrgh!

yer prolly correct. =(

fred still looks happy... when did he grow the 'stache and chin hair...?

Arrghhhh NBC Sports

They delayed the showing of quali in favor of some bicycling deal. Arrrrghhhh!

Did they put it on CNBC? No.

MSNBC? No.

Now, I've pretty much liked NBC sports, they're not "there" just yet but they seem to be doing pretty well - until today.

C'mon guys, get with it! You build loyalty to your brand by going the extra mile, you didn't seem like you even tried this time.

...and while you're add it, add coverage of FP1 and FP3 now and again - like what the program guide tells me.

Well as usual the BBC coverage was excellent. Practise & qualifying. I just wish they had all the races live like they used to. I hope I didn't give away any spoilers before you got to see it.

BBC doesn't show all of the races live?

I hated what Fox used to do to the marquee races - tape delay. If they were smart they would have left the live coverage on Speed and still showed the replay on Fox. ...but that's the US, much less of a following here.

Almost worse was the Montreal coverage, no pre-race at all. Poor Varsha and Hobbsie and Matchett had to talklikethistogetalloftheirpointsinabouttheracebecausetheyonlyhad maybe30secondsbeforetheracestartedandoutgothelightsandwe'reracinginMontreal!

Not any more. Sky got that exclusive last year. They still show extended high lights of qualifying and race day. However they do show about 12 races live I think.

Shame for Di Resta as he has been disqualified for being under weight (not something that would have been an issue for me!)

Does this mean you get coverage from 2 different networks at the same time?

(Apologies for not being up to speed (ha!) on how TV works in the UK)
