It seems like he just pissed Bud Selig off. Ryan Braun lied and acted high and mighty when he got off on a technicality and only got half a season. Melky Cabrera created a fake website in an effort to mislead investigators. He only got the minimum first offender suspension.

Mark McGwire is a HITTING COACH!! It's OK though, because he finally admitted to some wrongdoing. Forget about the joke that was his record breaking season.

The point of that Deadspin list is that those who you can argue have done far worse - in terms of broken laws and multiple test fails - have been given a pass.

Todd Helton just got popped this season (or offseason) for a DWI. It's ok to like him, though, because he didn't kill anyone. Or lie to Bud Selig. And he's an icon in Colorado. How many Rockies fans are going to ignore that while damning A-Rod?

I understand what the MLB is trying to do. Get PED's out of the game. But they are very, very late. They had no problem ignoring it for so long, and now they just look like they are trying to make a statement with an unsympathetic figure. If this was David Ortiz, would they be taking the same route?

They also seem to have no problem ignoring the players who are getting arrested. Start banning players who get arrested for DWI for a season and see how much good they can do. They are making themselves look very bad and hypocritical.

I know ARod is an a**. And he's a Yankee, which makes him even easier to hate. But, honestly, this whole thing just stinks.

PS: I love how ESPN is covering this debacle. Yet they have no problem hiring Ray Lewis. I mean, come on!!

I am not going to contest MLB was very lax during the steroid era. Not going to deny Selig doing this in order to help save his legacy when he retires next year.

Braun was going to get 100( 50 for his original offense and 50 for lying, etc). He negotiated it down to 65( 50 for original offense and 15 for lying).

Would MLB/media be jumping all over Ortiz if he was the symbol of the Biogenesis stuff like ARod is? I don't know. I hope MLB tested him after murdering that phone since that was typical roid rage behavior( not to mention other instances of him raging).

I want the next CBA to allow teams to void contracts with players that failed a drug test or the team/league has evidence of use and presents it to an arbitrator, etc even after a first offense. That may not stop the small guys desperate to break out from using, but the big stars that are making big money, I am sure teams wouldn't hesitate to void the contract after getting caught. You want to stop PED use? Do it by hitting players where it hurts. Take that big lucrative pay day away. ARod was reportedly ready to retire if he could have gotten the rest of the $100 million owed to him.

At first, I thought this would never happen, but after the way the players association turned on the newly suspended, it is apparent to me that this could happen.

They are in Chicago so no doubt he will. I hope Yankee fans boo him out of Yankee Stadium when they return home.

They cheered him like the no nothing fans they are.

Well things in the baseball world are back to normal. A-Rod is playing with the Yankees and they won. The Red Sox were shut out at home by the team with the worst record in baseball. Yep, all is back to normal ;)

Yankees fans know plenty thank you very much. And Yankees fans have had no problem booing ARod when he sucks royally. Of course, we've gotten criticized for this as well.

Yankees fans are in a tough position. Most of us dislike him. We also remember how he killed it in the 2008 World Series. We were almost forced to like after that. A couple of bad post seasons and the hate was renewed. And now we're dealing with more unnecessary hatred for our team and our fanbase. I guess it's easier to hate the Yanks and their fans than actually try to look at this objectively.

I know someone who was at the game last night and she cheered him because she feels he's being singled out and treated unfairly. There are plenty of players who have tarnished the game. Steroids, DWI's, Assaults.

Why isn't anyone booing David Ortiz? Because he's not an a**? He's just as guilty as anyone who has cheated. How is Manny Ramirez, who failed 2 tests and was implicated long before those failed tests, still collecting a minor league salary? They're cheering Giambi in Cleveland. And Andy Pettitte in NY.

If they're going to make a statement, it needs to be clear and fair. Braun embarrassed himself and his team. He lied to everyone's face. And his punishment was 1/3 of ARod's.

What I find funny is that on a baseball forum I visit, the Yankee fans defending ARod, absolutely hate Jeter. Guess the rift back in 2004 is still fresh when Jeter wouldn't move over to 3B....

If they hate Jeter I have a hard time believing they are real Yankees fans.

They call him selfish, old, etc. They love ARod. Maybe Jeter should have moved to 3B. But, he didn't and they need to get over it. Should Jeter move positions now? Probably as he doesn't have the range( never did really) as he used to especially now that he has become injury prone.

He has had a few down years and they are using that against him. It seems like they can't wait until he falls.

The only benefit of him being injured often this season is Jeter will most likely exercise his $8 million player option for 2014. If he doesn't and wants more than $11 million( still an overpay IMHO), than I will begin to turn on him a little. He is aging, this season has shown us his body is getting there in age. No way does he deserve anything more than $11 million as a player. The issue is the Yankees will probably pay him $13-$15 million if he doesn't exercise the option simply because the revenue they pull in from merchandise, etc will easily pay that salary and Yankee fans may/will revolt if they let Jeter walk.

Like I said, anyone who says that or thinks that hasn't paid attention and isn't a true fan. A few down years? He had a hell of a season last year before getting hurt in the playoffs. He hit .316 and had over 200 hits.

2008, 2010-first half of 2011 I would say was down years( though 2008 wasn't that bad compared to 2010-first half of 2011).

And I am completely serious about me turning on him a bit if he demands anything more than $11 million if he declines his $8 million player option.

I feel for you, because you seem like a real fan, but the Yankees, like a handful of other franchises, suffer from an excess of very bad fans in multiple locales.

Yankees fans are in a tough position. Most of us dislike him. We also remember how he killed it in the 2008 World Series. We were almost forced to like after that. A couple of bad post seasons and the hate was renewed.

These are not reasons to hate a player, I don't feel sorry for the Yankees for not liking what was the best player in the game at the peak of his power. For that I openly criticize Yankees fans.

And now we're dealing with more unnecessary hatred for our team and our fanbase. I guess it's easier to hate the Yanks and their fans than actually try to look at this objectively.

You're a Yankee fan cheering for the most successful franchise in MLB history. We don't feel sorry for you. If anything, I'm more critical of Boston because of the amount of cheaters on that 2004 team. 86 years of futility fixed with a little help from steroids.

I know someone who was at the game last night and she cheered him because she feels he's being singled out and treated unfairly. There are plenty of players who have tarnished the game. Steroids, DWI's, Assaults.

He cheated and lied and the public found out. They should never stop booing him.

I can't answer for that, but when the White Sox signed Manny Ramirez in 2010, he was not well received (not to mention he was awful). I'm sure if Ortiz was caught again and suspended he would be booed as well.

Braun got off his first appeal by a technicality, but he did get cleared. This second issue was treated like a (1.5)st offense, and he negotiated a deal and is doing his suspension. Alex Rodriguez should be out of baseball permanently depending on who you ask.
