Of course I think we both hate the Braves and their stupid chop.:D

:D

That chop was extremely obnoxious, but I actually don't hate the braves (mostly because of that 2-8 record!). My only issue with them was proclaiming themselves the team of the 90's after their 1 WS win. As much as people hate them, the Yanks didn't even declare themselves the team of the 90's and they won 3. Imagine all of the hate they would have gotten?

The Rockies season has been over for a long time too. Kudos to the Dodgers, they are having an amazing season.

Its okay rockies still have a better record still. i believe.

best season goes to the O's

Can anyone explain to me what happened in the 9th? Romine throws the game away and Soriano gets picked off TWICE in the bottom of the 9th.....

Do the Yankees think they are the Astro's with that circus of an inning?

Can I just say that being 21 years old (in a few weeks) and living in Pittsburgh and being a Pirates fan I could not be more excited to FINALLY see this team have a +.500 season. I have literally been waiting for this my whole life.

I think this is the beginning of the end as the Yankees next year have a chance to be really bad.

It depends if the Yankees can get under $189 million and reset their tax from 50% to 12%. If they can, then I expect them to resume spending in the 2014-2015 offseason.

Say goodbye to Cano and Granderson.

Say goodbye to Cano and Granderson.

Granderson may accept a $13.8 million qualifying offer to rebuild his value. I'm sure the Yankees budget plans include Cano's impending FA.

And of course we have ARod's suspension going to help too hopefully( that's $25 million saved if he gets suspended for all of 2014).

From memory we have Pettitte's $12 million, Mo's $10 million, Jeter's $17 million, Granderson's $15 million, Burnett's $8.5 million, etc coming off the books.

The Yankees will have $66 million( $91 million if ARod is suspended through 2014) to work with this offseason if $189 million is still the goal. That number includes Jeter's $8 million player option which I am confident Jeter will exercise given he has little value after this years issues and so far lack of production. So they can still lock up Cano, but anticipate 2014 to be very bad.

So close.....

SF pitcher Yusmeiro Petit came within one strike of pitching a perfect game last night. Threw just 95 pitches in the complete game against the Diamondbacks.

What an impressive outing. I saw the box score on my phone in the 9th inning and ran to the TV to put on the MLB Network. Got there right in the middle of the Chavez at-bat, not even realizing it was a perfect game on the line and not just a no-hitter. So. Close. Would have been a nice ray of light in an otherwise cloudy season.

Petit has done very well for the Giants so far. He'll have to be under strong consideration for the 2014 rotation now, and Chad Gaudin has also potentially earned a spot by pitching consistently well after moving out of the bullpen. Zito is definitely gone. I assume the Giants are picking up the option on Vogelsong to keep him around. The big question is what becomes of Lincecum? Will another team throw a lot of money at him, desperately hoping the old Timmy resurfaces with a change of scenery? I'd like to see him in the bullpen, but that will all depend on how the market shapes up for him.

Zito and Lincecum are legends and were great in their time. Zito did have an amazing year last year and it wasn't bad in the WS for Lincecum, either. For 2010 Lincecum was the man but today it will probably go to Bumgarner. Cain will probably stick around as will Vogelsong. Gaudin may be good. I think the Giants have some strong choices for the rotation in 2014 and could put together a realistic playoff team. It hurt that we had a couple of key injuries and that could have been the difference between a losing season and playoff contention.

They are making this season fun. With all the Red Sox comeback wins, you want to watch the entire game.

As Pedroia said..."We just keep playing until they tell us we can't any more"

It's been really, really fun. Especially after the horror of September 2011 and the disappointment the last couple of years. So heartening to see the kids and the vets mixing so well, and winning much more and much sooner than anyone expected. The future is bright...very bright.

And for now, fear the beards! :D:cool:
