One week, it's Seattle is the best team in the NFL when they outplayed Washington and now, they're not the same team anymore after losing to Dallas. Haha. I'm not a fan of the Seahawks but the media are a bunch of tools. :D

I agree with you that Ryan isn't solely at fault. That said, he should have been fired with the last GM.

I don't understand why he wasn't. I think the owner stepped in and said that he wanted him. Which is why maybe the GM chose not to spend a lot of money on talent, since he was going to fire Ryan after this season anyways.

That is so true.

While their D is still healthy and intact, regardless of record, they will be a dangerous team. The most unfortunate thing is that they are in the NFC West with my Niners. Someone should send that back to AFC West!:p

Their D is not healthy and intact.
They lost 2 good defensive players by signing with other teams.

Two defensive players are injured. Two offensive linemen are injured also.

Not making excuses though. Dallas came in with a good gameplan while Seattle didn't.

They better get their collective heads together or they are destined to be the same as all the past Superbowl teams. Win it then the next year not make the play-offs.

The removal of my sig reflects that.

/end fair-weather fan rant

They've been winning but not as convincingly as they had last year. Just look back at the San Diego game. They've been fortunate to play against some weak NFC teams but I think they totally took the cowboys for granted and thought they'd roll right over them.

So true. I think Cowboys so far are not a fluke and could be one of the best teams in the NFL for this season. We are so used to them choking but the big chokes can't go on forever.

The media loves sensationalism and doom and gloom to drive clicks. Every week if a team wins they're the greatest team ever and if they lose it's "blow it up. fire everyone. trade tom brady." It's all media morons throwing **** at the wall to generate buzz, get clicks, and sell ads. I can't even name a single national sports journalist who has any credibility left whatsoever.

I'd call ESPN the TMZ of sports, but at this point ESPN has gotten so bad that's insulting to TMZ.

That is what it has become. I do think that Dallas is hot this year but not because they said so and the Cowboys are the cool team to follow right now, but if one just tuned in, all of a sudden Romo is the best thing since sliced bread and the Cowboys are 5-1 because of "him". And yes, if he chokes in a game, then he "lost" his touch. It's a week to week life these journalists live.

My guess is that those who did well last year will either make it to playoffs or come close. While the sports press wants to make you think it will be all topsy turvy and bring in a whole new cast of heroes, this rarely if ever happens. Stars tend to grow slowly, hit a peak that lasts for a few years, and then decline in slow fashion. But those few bumps of performance or slumps are what the press loves to focus on.

As good as the Cowboys are, it was not enough to prevent their #2 RB Joseph Randle (52 yds on Sunday) from being arrested for shoplifting – he is accused of leaving the store with some underwear and a nearly full perfume tester, totaling about $120. I guess a $495K salary is barely enough to scrape by on.

lordy, that said, they are protecting romo much better and their "D" is making plays.

i like them better when they suck... oh well.

the RAIDERS actually led near the end of their game and had a chance to win until it came to the offense to get a few first downs... and then the defense to make a stop.

baby steps, baby steps...

wow unreal, some of these guys really are idiots. 495K and no state taxes in Texas, and this guy is shoplifting? Baffles the mind.

Baffles the mind and the word "idiot" comes to mind. What the heck was he thinking. Maybe he needed more of a rush than having a 300lb defensive lineman hitting him and knocking the snot out of him. Idiot.

This brings up Winona Ryder. It's more a disease/compulsion than an actual economic need.

I think its less about getting something for free (since he can well afford it) and more about the thrill of getting away with something.

On a Thursday football note.
I think the patriots need to be careful with the Jets. This 1-5 time is not going to roll over and no matter if you hate Ryan, the player do play hard for him. The Jets do step up their game when they meet the Pats and I wouldn't expect anything else.

I was surprised at how well the Jets played against the Broncos last Sunday. The game was much closer than I thought it would be.

Me too, I think their is what it is, but they've been in nearly all of the games they lost.

If Smith plays well and does not turn over the ball then they have a real good chance of beating the Pats. Of course with new injuries that the Patriots are dealing with, i.e., Mayo out. This makes it harder for the Patriots to win.

Agreed. I don't think the Jets can score enough to win, but I think they can make the Patriots worry. The game could be along the lines of 20-16 or 38-10 - neither would surprise.

Despite the 1-5 record, they've played well in all but the San Diego game. Really tough schedule this year.

With the resurgence of Tom Brady, the Pats should have easily beat the Jets (and who they have this year) by a full three touchdowns.

Yes the Jets rose to the occasion but any division rivalry should be that way if anybody follows football in other divisions, but we should see the real story in why NE couldn't simply demolish the Jets. NE got the win but like any good coach who is used to Super Bowls, there are two types of wins which are the predictable blowouts and the "you still won but we have major issues" types of wins. Belichick, like other greats like Jimmy Johnson and Bill Walsh, are known for never being happy with just a win and are often pissed when the win came with only mediocre play. A great team, like the Pats may still be, should be worried about being so inconsistent and focus on what to improve rather than sit on their laurels of having just won. I bet Belichick has some choice words to say to some players.

While NE gets the win, the moral victory goes to the Jets here. Their record doesn't show the whole story and maybe NY is rebuilding and gaining steam for a legitimate postseason run next year. With just 31 yards on ground in previous game, they went 218 against the Pats on the ground. Win or loss that's amazing and only an idiot will discount the Jets the next time they play NE. Whatever one thinks of Ryan, he built up an amazing team that will have depth for years to come.

Disagree. The Jets (and the rest of the AFC East) always tend to play the Patriots tough, and these games are typically dogfights regardless of record. I don't think the Patriots are any kind of juggernaut. Combine that with a short week, and I don't know anyone that predicted anything other than a close game.

No moral victories in football. All that matters is the W.

I agree with rdowns though in that the Jets have have an absolutely brutal schedule this year.

I know the Jets man up for games, regardless of schedule and we have that issue when we go against the Rams. They can really put it to SF, regardless of what the rest of the season looks like.

NE is not a juggernaut, they are a dynasty on the level of 90s Dallas Cowboys, old school Niners, and old school Steelers so don't kid yourself. 5 Super Bowl entries since 2001, postseason dances in every year but one since that time, so how is that not a juggernaut? And Pats have some of that great play recently. Yes, the Pats have three SB wins and two losses being the ones of late, but while most teams didn't get to postseason those two AFC best years (2007 and 2011) are moral victories. That's what a moral victory is. Imagine being never seen in postseason with one of your teams. Boston and your region has seen fairly consistent wins or entries into final series/game/postseasons with Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox, or Patriots on and off but mainly on for almost two generations so you don't know how it feels to be left totally out of postseasons unless you are older than me and remember time before Boston was hot in any sport before Celtics runs.

My Niners didn't win the 2012 football season but getting to the SB was huge moral victory for us and gave the whole city a hope in the NFL we had not seen since Steve Young many years earlier. That's a moral victory, SB loss or NFC Champ, no matter how you look at it. I would love a SB win again but if all we get is Kap and that 2012 mad season with backup QB taking play that far, I will take it and be happy we didn't spend those years in a losing season doghouse!

The first thing I want for my home region is major sports wins (70's A's, 70s/80s Raiders, 80s/90s 49ers, current SF Giants), but it's also good to have close years, too (current Niners, current A's, and San Jose Sharks). What sucks is having none of your region's teams make a postseason in any sport and we have had so many dark, last place type years in norcal that it would make your head spin.

Yes, we too have had some good runs but are in no league with Boston or New York who seem to have trophies rain down on them. A bad year for you is not to get into final game/series but over here a bad year is like most cities which is not even getting into postseason. I haven't Googled this, but how many years has it been since a Boston area team failed to make it to postseason?

Juggernaut is Boston and Boston is juggernaut.

They are not a juggernaut. They had their dynasty. They are a good team this year and the last few. This is not the same Pats team that won those games. Other than Brady, (who is starting to show his age) and Gronk(who is always hurt), its a totally different team

Players change, as in all sports dynasties, but being in the Pats is almost a guarantee to make it to postseason (or it has been with Brady). They are the NFL's answer to baseball's 1990s-2010s New York Yankees. The Yankees both won and lost WS in that time but what they did do was consistently make it to postseason. When Brady is gone then we will see but I suspect a robust Pats as long as Belichick is working there.

Big Bill isn't a stranger to winning either since it was his D that was the heart of the NY Giants in their big D years.
