sour grapes party

We had a tough year in Niner land having gone to NFC championship game three years in a row and then getting dominated only pulling off an 8-8 year in 2014. Elsewhere in the bay area, we saw our two baseball teams make postseason and see SF win it all, and we are getting excited about our Warrior's best start ever. Our winningest coach ever in 4 years for the Niners got unceremoniously shown the door (mutual) and our key players didn't live up to regular excellent play. The dog of this year's bay area teams was undoubtedly the Niners compared to what was expected of them. The Raiders sucked but we expected them too fall very short in 2014 so no biggie there.

So next door in the neighborhood, in California mind you, there's a big Carolina Panthers party, to root against one of the west coast teams that showed us up (Arizona Cardinals). I have moved on and hope for a good coach next year for San Francisco and can only hope for the best but I find it a waste of time to root against somebody (first the NFC West wild card Cardinals) and then root against NFC West champs Seattle Seahawks.

What's the point in rooting against the two teams who earned their place at the top of the NFC West and went to the playoffs? They did well and we didn't so life goes on, right?

Pittsburg sucks.

that is all

God I know, pittsburgh has to win because if they don't, the ravens will got to new england and will have a chance to beat the patriots and if that happens ill hate my life again for the 10th year in a row

lol 63dot it's okay man. The bay area has been pretty spoiled a .500 season is nothing to throw the towel in over. No need to convince us all how good you guys have it ;)

We got spoiled with 3 WS in 5 years and all the current rage of Warriors basketball, I know.

It's just that who would have thought three straight NFC showings in a row followed by a downer season resulting in a departing coach and 8-8 season missing the playoffs? It's a shock to our system and even though Kap had a good QB rating and passed for the most yards in his career, things just didn't come together for a postseason run. I knew things would be bad when we were out 3 starters on D early in the year. Some said we were doomed for playoff possibility, and early in season, when we were on half a D and they were basically right.

As in all seasons, next year we have to have the D stay healthy and stay out of trouble. It was a train wreck of a year which was more than just 8 losses in a season. My guess is that we will sit out at least two or three seasons in postseason and get back to rebuilding with new coach. By the time we are ready again it may be with a different QB.

Nah, I'm talking about post season. Raven will beat Pats for a third time in a row.

Pats have only lost to the ravens in the post season twice. I wouldn't count on it. Now that they also have a decent defense and 6 starters aren't hurt (like last year), I'd doubt the ravens have much of a chance next weekend.

I expect the Pats to soundly beat the Ravens next week but I expected a total rout of the Ravens tonight in Pittsburgh. I don't know exactly what happened but it could be that the Ravens are peaking at the right time like they did twice before which led to Super Bowl wins.

They have never been exciting to watch but they can work well as a unit and shut down a great offense on their home turf. The first time they did it I didn't see the likelihood of a team with such a mediocre QB. The second time they did it, I didn't think they could pull it off with a clearly over the hill Ray Lewis. It would be funny if they went all the way again.

I only thought baseball was the sport where you could go all the way with average and just above average and no clear superstars on a team. Again, with the Ravens, I can't point to any clear stars but if they can hold back Big Ben on his home field with that most nasty of home crowds, they may be able to hold back Tom Brady. But even then, they would possibly have to face Denver after that, and then most likely a Seattle or Green Bay. A full run of the Ravens would be so unlikely, kind of like the last two times they won the Lombardi.

My prediction: New England by two touchdowns.

If the Jets were able to sack Brady 4 times and disrupt their offense, imagine what dumervil and Suggs are going to do if that O-line doesn't step up. Should be an interesting game, I'm looking forward to it. Would be awesome if the Ravens beat them again in foxboro

2012: the year Talib went down early, leaving the Patriots with a flotilla of crap at CB. Also no Gronk, not that he makes a huge difference or anything. :)

Baltimore is good, but the Patriots shouldn't be afraid of them, and I sure wish I could find someone in real life to take me up on a BAL/NE bet. New England's secondary is much, much better than Pittsburgh's. Should be a good game, hopefully New England gets a bit of revenge.

Come on.Injuries are no excuse. Seattle had 3 all-pro linemen and LB's injured and still got #1 seed.

What SF doesn't have is depth.

I think I'd rather see Pittsburgh rather then Baltimore play the Pats. The Pats have their work cut out.

CAR and ARZ both looked horrible.

The best thing about the game was when the panters came back out and started high fiving the fans... except for Newton... he didn't even look at the fans. what an ass!

no matter who they play next they will be beaten soundly.

have i mentioned how much i hate the ravens? meh!

I'm not surprised, Carolina had a losing record for a reason, they just played in a division that was even more horrible. ARZ hasn't looked good for a few weeks.

I don't see Carolina getting any further in the playoffs.

They probably play in Seattle.

muhahaha

I so hope Sherman gets to talk to Brady again.

I suspect there is more to it than that. The Seahawks have picked up a few players to cover the damage in the ranks (e.g., Moeaki) and they seem to blend seamlessly into the system. Carroll has a talent for getting the guys working well with each other, whoever they might be.
