I'd love to see a Patriots-Seahawks rematch. Get Tom his 5th then this pic will really be true:

Sorry man if they have a re-match the results WILL be different.

You got that right, it won't take until the final 20 seconds for the Patriots to seal the win. ;)

Seriously though, I'm pretty excited for the season to start. Should be interesting for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing how pissed off Brady is after the last 8 months of nonsense.

While second and dumb certainly contributed to the loss, the Patriots made plays when they needed to.

People criticize Carroll too much for that play call. Carroll made that call to give his team an extra shot at the touchdown. If they try to run it in and they were stopped at the goal line, the clock probably runs out before they can line up and snap it on third down. He chose the pass play because an incomplete pass would have given them the third down chance to run it in. Butler just made a hell of a play.

Not true. Seattle had 30 secs. on the clock. on a 2nd. down. Run it in TD. Not get over the goal line Wilson could have just thrown the ball down to stop the clock. That would have made it 3rd and goal. THEN they could have tried that pass.

Seattle also had a timeout left to use.

I guess that west coast drought is making the grapes sour out there?? :p

NE won after Brady led them on two clutch 4th quarter touchdown drives, becoming the first team in NFL history to come back from 10+ points down in the 4th quarter of a Super Bowl to win, against what everyone said was one of the best defenses in NFL history.

The Butler interception sealed it, but that play doesn't even happen if Kearse didn't make that amazing but extremely lucky catch to begin with.

West Coast drought is not considered so in the Bay Area.

Your Pats dispatched the Seattle Seahawks, a team that owned the 49ers, and in the past owned the Raiders during several seasons, so there's no problem with norcal seeing Seattle go down. To say West Coast as a single entity is about as accurate as me saying Boston, New York, and Philadelphia must all be the same. ;)

We have had some good spurts in sports but between 2010-2015 we saw Giants win three times and the Warriors win just a few months ago. Also it wasn't bad either seeing the 49ers at least make it to the Super Bowl in 2013 and with a 2nd string quarterback. That's four parades here in five years so this little corner of the west coast is not experiencing any droughts.

When the Patriots released Reggie Wayne on Saturday, the team did so because Wayne asked to be released. So why didn’t Wayne want to stay in New England?
According to former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak, Wayne wanted out because the former Colts receiver thought the New England’s “work environment was to tough” and playing for the Patriots was “not fun.”

No wonder why the Patriots have steamrolled DUIrsay's Colts the last 4 times we've played them.

Let's not forget one FACT.

New England had a mass murderer on their team.

Seriously? Does Cali Pete have a crystal ball that somehow lets him see the future? I guess he should have used it on that 2nd down play then.

How is anyone supposed to predict the guy would become a PCP smoking psychotic murderer? That could have happened anywhere. How about the FACT that they cut him before he was even charged and before anyone even knew his full involvement, despite the fact that it cost the Patriots millions of dollars?

Everyone attacks the Patriots for a situation they had no control over despite they fact that they did the right thing and cut bait with the guy as soon as there was any indication as to what he was involved in, but apparently give free passes to other teams that continue to enable pill popping/multiple DUI offending owners, wife beaters, child abusers, etc.

Great post!

I think, especially in football, that violent things can happen.

From the safety of our TV, we expect some of the most savage behavior from these people, many doped up to the gills, and then are shocked when one turns out violent. I had a girlfriend who worked in the literacy program at an unnamed Cal State program, where the supposed "college" football players could not read on any grade school level. They were given scholarships, not for being a scholar, but from being able to hopefully transfer an extremely violent, and illiterate past into victory for our college team. There was a direct line from crack to their veins, and a hopefully still alive player onto our football fields. Some didn't like bringing these players in and others thought we were saving lives. And then some freaking idiots start wondering why things go wrong sometimes when one of these talented men go pro and revert to behavior from their past?

It's especially stupid to try and tie a murderer to the most recent Super Bowl team, and then somehow add to deflategate, but please realize that violent folk have been on every team in the NFL at one time. My 49ers had this talented running back named OJ Simpson, who also played for other teams.

You know. I'm getting tired of people putting mean spirited labels on opponents on the patriots.

No get used to this fact, that you will have to get "used to the hate". But see it as a compliment.

You are the best team in football and everybody knows it.

First of all, you are expected to win the division this year. Your main foes in NFC West are hobbled and decimated and SF is not expected to go far.

Secondly, last year you only lost because of stupid play but the Super Bowl was yours for the taking and you didn't do it. You were supposed to win the Super Bowl and you blew it and nobody had the illusion that the Patriots of last year were as strong as the Broncos of the year before.

Number three. And in that year before you succeeded in a tough division, went through the playoffs, and creamed the most productive offensive team in the history of the NFL which were the Denver Broncos.

You are the sport's current ten year dynasty, and guess what, you are the target! I hate to say this, but before Wilson, beastmode and Sherman are over, you will probably see three more Super Bowls and probably soundly win at least two of those. I think like the Pats from 2001-2011 decade long run, you will see an overall decade with five trips to the Super Bowl and probably a 3-2 overall record on those and match that dynasty.

Oh. I agree man, It's just the name calling has got old. No GM or coach has complete control over the players. It's the same for any team.

It's a new football season. Let's all start fresh. Forget about Bradygate because the whole country doesn't think he's king of the hill.

Thanks to DirectTV, I'll have the Sunday NFL ticket and I'm looking forward to watching some nice out of market games. I usually don't have a chance to catch a lot of games on Sunday (doing the family thing), but I think this year, I'll need to make an extra effort to be home on Sundays ;)

Unfortunately I don't have direct tv but I did get the sports package with my FIOS which includes the redzone channel. On Sunday's I'll have 2 tv's going in the man cave one with the nationally televised game and one running the redzone channel. I can't wait!

I started watching Redzone a few years ago. It's awesome for fantasy football if you're into that and just in general it keeps things fresh and exciting.

I think "starting fresh" is exactly what Goodell and his cohort of trained baboons in the league offices want more than anything else. I agree some bygones have to be bygones, but I think it's past time people started seeing the larger pattern of Goodell's abuse of power here. It's not just about the Patriots, though I will readily admit I didn't pay the attention I should have when it happened to other teams, it's about how he screwed over the Redskins and Cowboys for violating a nonexistent cap restriction, screwed over the Saints, screwed over the Dolphins, reacted solely for PR purposes to the Rice and Peterson cases, etc.

There have been reports that the owners are going to discuss Goodell's role in these discipline issues. I sincerely hope they at least consider the idea of a neutral arbitrator who understands basic labor law. Otherwise they are going to continue to get their clocks cleaned in court.

So yes, enjoy the new football season. I certainly will. With the upgrades the AFC East teams have made, there should be some great divisional games this year. But from here on out, I'm going to take any actions by Goodell in regards to player discipline with a major grain of salt, and I will keep an eye on news about what the owners do or don't choose to do about Goodell's continued incompetence.

They're all a bunch of greedy rich people to me. Players and coaches alike. The NFL is not the place to get ideas on wholesome family values.

I don't really care that much. I just don't like Brady. Never cared for Elway either so there ya go.

In any case we have our Gronk this year with the addition of Jimmy Graham.
I can see a two-tight end formation with beast mode and Wilson. That will be a formidable group.
Especially in the red zone.Something Seattle has needed for a long time.

Great just when all this deflate-gate crap is dying down... looks like things will ramp right back up with the new allegations against the Patriots about them sending employees in to opposing team locker rooms to steal playsheets. Pats have become the poster team for cheating, its getting ridiculous. witch hunt? or shady business in foxboro? I say a combination of both.

I think if this gets investigated further, they will find that every single team has cheated in some way every single year. While I love baseball more, football's cheating is not on same level. Look what pitchers do to balls, batters to bats, even shady managers? And doping, it's more tied to baseball, too if Barry Bonds doesn't ring a bell.

Honestly I see deflategate, if proven true later on one day and suspension returned, seemed less of a bad thing than any team signing Michael Vick. Now Pittsburgh politicians are being flooded by social media to do something about that. The growth of social media in just the last few years has made Michael Vick seem more of a big thing than when he got convicted.

Before this is all over, I think CNN called it when they said this will lead to Goodell being fired. Either he made bad decisions or he didn't make enough good ones on time. It's probably a thankless job where one bad move turns into millions of hits online.

Hopefully after week one we won't have to hear more about this whole deflategate saga. You know it's all the announcers will be talking about during Thursday night's game.

If it's good for ratings, then yes.

There's no respect for the courts/judges/law and it's not fun to talk about. As long as many announcers talk about a cheating Brady, there will be supporters and detractors tuning in. The actual game will take a backseat.

While all the armchair QBs continue to talk about deflategate, the real players will have their heads in this season where it belongs.
