have you heard of the ideal gas law? have you taken 10th grade chemistry? i don't think you have. FROM THE WELLS REPORT (which is complete ****) the PSI numbers of the 12 balls COMPLETELY TAKES INTO ACCOUNT the air pressure. AGAIN, do you have PROOF THAT THERE WAS TAMPERING? no, you do not.

you have the audacity to call people delusional when you want to accuse someone of cheating without any evidence? salt.

whats with the salt? I have the audacity? how about you? were you in the locker room with Brady and the ballboys and could say for sure that nothing went on? would you bet your life that brady is innocent because you idolize him and are a fan? I dont think you would. the truth is nobody knows.... you remind me of Aaron Rodgers when he stood behind Braun and swore that Braun never did steroids, even offered some guy a million dollars on twitter if Braun was ever found with steroids.... Lo and behold evidence came up that Braun used steroids and I'm sure Rodgers felt stupid... the only difference is that Rodgers was actually friends with Braun, you dont know Brady from a hole in the wall, only what you see on tv on the football field on Sundays.

you have 0 evidence. you have nothing.

I doubt the NFL would appeal. Imagine all the currently private documents on which this decision was based. All of those would need need to become public. All the interviews, all the notes, the meeting notes, the emails, etc. I don't think the NFL attorneys will think making all that stuff public is worth this appeal.

I hope they don't. I'm tired of hearing about it.

The NFL has announced that they plan to appeal. I have no idea what they hope to get out of this decision. Maybe Goodell is under orders to win or get thrown out in order to stick it to Kraft.

Come on cut the delusion, its pretty obvious that some tampering went down

There's circumstantial evidence that Brady told Jastremski and McNally to make sure that the balls were the way he wanted them after they got pumped up to 16 psi in the game against the Jets, which might well have resulted in tampering after the ref inspection in games after that. There's really no valid evidence whatsoever that there was tampering in the AFCCG. Yes, McNally took the balls into the bathroom. But per the Wells Report, *if* you accept that Anderson didn't remember which gauge he used, that means he took them in to remove .2 psig of air. That's...ludicrous.

So let's agree that at some point during the previous season, McNally or Jastremski found a way to tamper with the balls at Brady's indirect request. Fine. How about a rational punishment, one consistent with previous instances of ball tampering?

But if you want to see Pats season spoiled, there's a small but unlikely chance that Goodell can appeal and that could end up making Brady miss later games which could have the same season ending effect on the team.

The league will appeal, but they will not file for an injunction, because getting one would be very difficult for them in this case. They would have to show that some form of direct harm would occur if Brady played this season. This will drag on into next year if they follow through with the appeal. Berman likely constructed his decision to be as appeal-proof as possible, so we'll see how that goes.

If you had a choice between Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers as your QB, whom would you choose? The Niners' had that choice in 2005. They chose Smith #1 overall. True that Smith won't lose you any games, but he can't carry a team like Rodgers.

Hindsight, Rodgers.

Rodgers is a local boy and he would have loved to have played for the local, five time Super Bowl winner Niners.

Rodgers is not only better than Smith, he's the best quarterback in the history of the sport but may not have been graced with guys like Jerry Rice and some really great RBs like Emmett Smith. But given the best running backs and receivers of his age, Rodgers would win the Super Bowl every year. No QB comes close in passer rating. The guy is a monster.

That's what I heard and it's the reason Berman did it this way.

I don't see an appeal because that would get Goodell fired if he's not already slated to be fired. Hopefully the Pats season is in the hands of the Pats, not some micro-manager commissioner.

With this decision and the beginning of the 2015-2016 season I think most fans consider the matter closed. We just want to watch some good football. I don't know what the NFL hopes to gain by continuing to pursue it.

Goodell isn't getting fired as long as he makes the owners money.

What I think would make everybody stop bickering and shut up is if Jets win Super Bowl this year (hey, my Giants won WS in 2010 and Warriors in 2014-15 NBA so anything can happen) and for Pats to win the following year, all without incident. There was too much attention first to Coach Ryan and conflict with stars, and then to Brady/deflategate, and we should just all focus on football and give the NFL respectability again.

People could be happy and we can all get along as well as different fans are allowed to get along.

This forum has long been dominated by talk, and trash talk from these two teams, and there are other teams that should have consideration for our attention.

Surprising a Federal judge would shoe horn himself into a collectively bargained agreement. I agree with Goddell from the perspective it's not about ball deflation. It's about the cover-up. The appearance of impropriety is often worse than the impropriety itself.

The NFL is a multi-billion dollar business that most maintain credibility to the extent possible at all times. The standard now is set to sue the NFL to get over any suspension unless the appeal is overturned. Most NFL players do not have the financial resources as Tom Brady.

I have a lot of respect for DeMaurice Smith. I'm disappointed in his viewpoint today. Not sure he really cares...

I really can't imagine any appeal with teeth that wouldn't require the NFL to disclose publicly all relevant emails and notes - those that Judge Berman discussed in his opinion. Even though they said they are appealing, I really doubt Goodell would want those emails and notes to become public.

If there is a proper appeal, I think it will be appealing only the remedy (throwing out the suspensions entirely) rather than the reasoning. I think the best the NFL can hope for, without disclosing tons of their currently private files, is to say that even if everything Berman concluded were true, the proper remedy would be to remand for a new arbitration with a new arbitrator (or at least a new arbitration appeal with a new arbitrator).

You're right, it's about the NFL's attempt to cover-up how they were a ignorant buffoons who didn't pay attention in high school physics then blew $5 million dollars to investigate a manufactured scandal and then wasted even more money getting annihilated in court.

Thankfully today, logic and science prevailed and justice was served. Can't wait to see the banner unveiled next week. :D

Brady was never proven innocent of the charges, just that Goodell over stepped with the penalty. The judge didn't have the power to rule on the crime.

Thank you!

I like that I am not a Pats fan but that I can see this for what it is. Goodell, not liked by many for other reasons, was trying for a power play. He wanted to take down the sport's biggest star but instead tried to bring in the whole team on the punishment, and it was Goodell breaking the rules of procedure and missing legal deadlines which were the real wrongdoing. Now let's play regular football.

Goodell may not be liked by Patriots fans but the majority of the country wanted a punishment.

I gotta be honest. I have had serious concerns about Seattle this pre-season.

They lost some good players to the salary cap and for the first 3 games they've looked really bad. Tonite changed that for me.
Even though they were going up against the 3rd and 4th string Raiders Seattle showed me they are the same team as before.

Even with Kam Chancellor holding out the defense is getting back in shape depth-wise.

Gonna make an early call. Tyler Lockett Rookie of the year. That dude is fast and good. five runs for over 50 yards and 3 TD's. Not bad for a rookie in 4 pre-season games as a returner. He caught Wilson's only pass tonight. A 67 yard pinpoint bomb then Lockett just sprinted past everybody for the TD. And Frank Clark on defense is going to dominate a lot of teams.

As for Brady et.al.

I hope to see the Patriots back in the Super Bowl. Seattle won't made that stupid call again.

OK then take his ring or fine him, but why wreck the whole team's year this year?

That's akin to saying, "Because Tom cheated we are going to likely disqualify the entire team from the playoffs next year."

It's legally established that Goodell was wrong but the jerk pretty much destroyed Brady's chance of ever making the Hall of Fame, and based on what? Now nobody will ever truly consider Tom a four Super Bowl winner and it's like an asterisk next to last years SB win for him. In his first two attempts for four he lets fans down, and it will widely be believed that 4th didn't count because of cheating and will be confirmed by him never making the Hall. And this will be based on Goodell's power trip, not any facts.

The majority of the country are braindead jealous asshats who can't stand the fact that in a league that trumpets it's so-called "parity" the Patriots have been to 9 AFC Championships, 6 Super Bowls, and won 4 of them in the last 14 years.

The reality is that this started because of the bitter Ravens, crybaby Colts, and VP of skipping 9th grade physics Mike Kensil didn't understand that pressure decreases when temperature decreases. Nobody on the Patriots ever even touched the footballs. It's been scientifically proven that the air pressure decrease was due to atmospheric conditions. League officials however were too dumb to realize that, and by the time they did, they had already released false information to defame the Patriots and promised an "investigation".

The end result? They wasted $5+ million dollars on a sham report that read like it was written by a middle schooler, that has since been throughly discredited by independent third parties, all to try to cover up and distract their mindless fans from the fact that the Patriots did nothing wrong and the league's commissioner is the biggest hypocrite in professional sports.

No one cares what the rest of the country wants, though. If you look through the transcripts, Berman ripped the NFL for having NO evidence of tampering or any scheme to do anything of the sort.

Yes, for an infraction that they didn't care about when other teams did it. Let's stop pretending it's about "the integrity of the game." People wanted Brady punished because he wins a lot and because they can't let go of another overblown scandal from eight years ago that they use to explain away all of New England's success.
