It was stupid for New England not going for the field goal when they had the chance, bad play calling by the Patriots. I'm kind of changing my mind on the Arizona -vs- Carolina matchup, for I kind of want Arizona to go to the Super Bowl.

Patriots fans grossly overlooked the Denver defense. A great defense will always trump a good offense and Patriots fans should know that better than anyone.

Not sure why everyone thought that New England was just going to walk into Denver and just run off with the game when Brady has a losing record against Denver.

Does it shock you? The arrogance in NE is unreal, from the team down to the fans....that's why I'm sure everyone outside of NE is happy with the outcome

No arrogance here. I knew it would be a tough game, just hoped they'd pull it off. Can't bet on a Gostkowski miss.

The arrogance was with the team itself. At no time in 17 games did they ever go for two. Gostkowski was perfect prior to this. Not having gone for a two-point conversion, they did not have the right headspace to make it work. They just thought they were too good.

Some day, the Patriots are going to be bad and get eliminated week 9. That will be a great day as today is.

That was the Patriots for the first 40 years they were a franchise.

Denver's defense manhandled and exposed the Patriots pitiful offensive line and that ended up being the biggest difference today. Hopefully they can fix that in the offseason and come back for another run next year. In the mean time, I'll be rooting for Manning to get annihilated by Carolina.

How is it arrogance that they had not gone for 2 yet? If they didn't need to and they happen to have a great kicker, I'm not seeing why it's arrogant. They were within one play of tying the game. It was a great game, and afterwards Belichick told Wade Philips that he called a great game. Denver's defense played great and exposed the injuries on the Patriots offensive line, but it was close up until the very last play.

Same here, but the haters will gladly lump us all into one group, apparently.

And the amount of celebration I'm seeing here and, well, everywhere over this game...I just don't understand being that obsessed with a team you don't root for. Kinda pathetic.

Hindsight is 20/20. At the time, given the way the offense was struggling, it's not a stretch to think they couldn't count on being that deep in Denver territory again.

What do you expect? Everywhere all everyone read was that the Patriots were too strong and were finally healthy on offense. How would the Broncos be able to stop the offense when they had Gronk, Edelman, Amendola with Brady's 1 second release? It's was pretty annoying and nauseating. Patriots fan should know better than anyone that a great defense stops a great offense especially after the Giants beat them twice in the Super Bowl (incl. the record breaking year).

As a Patriots fan, they should at least acknowledge that the Broncos have a top 5 defense. If they didn't and decided to run their mouth anyway, well be prepared to read how and why everyone is happy the Patriots lost to the Broncos who were "not as good" as the Patriots.

So you're conflating media storylines with Patriots fan's attitudes? Look, I get that there were plenty of NE fans who assumed they would beat Denver for the reasons you listed. But there were also plenty who were a) wary of Denver's D and b) nervous about playing in Denver, which continues to be a house of horrors for the Patriots. I'm just saying it's ridiculous to ascribe one attitude to all New England fans when plenty recognized that they would need to play very well to win.

Belicheat was the one pushing to have the extra point attempt pushed back and today his kicker misses an extra point that could have cost them a trip to the Super Bowl, the irony is just too good there.

Almost doesn't matter whether NE or Denver won. I don't think either can beat Carolina the way they're playing.

Whether the chest puffing was all or a small part of the Patriots fan base, the celebration for the Broncos was bound to happen. If you're part of the fanbase that respected what the Broncos were capable of, you just move on but everything you read in the media and message boards is a middle finger to those who posted non-stop on how unstoppable Brady's one second release is.
