If you don't like me dancing in the end zone keep me out of it.

---- Cam Newton.
One of the things I see with Cam Newton is that he's having fun. Its actually enjoyable watching that team play.

I know life is good when a team wins and everyone loves everyone, but still, you can see with the Panthers, they're having fun. It won't last long (nothing does in this life), so why not enjoy this moment in the sun.

Are you sure you weren't talking about the Ari-Car game? That was a freaking slaughter. Arizona had their asses handed to them.
Who beat up who in that game. Palmer did more damage to his own team than the Panthers did. That game was not as much slaughter as it was sloppy.

It was sloppy as heck...... Seven turnovers isn't going to win you the game!

Definitely more sloppy play from the Cardinals than Defensive domination from the panthers. To me, with the game going the way it was, it was over when Patrick Peterson picked off Cam only to give the ball back to the Panthers when Carson threw the interception in the end zone. Good effort to pick off Palmer but that's something he didn't do all season - make bad throws.

That's the one thing, I've noticed about Palmer, big games, those that tend to be high pressure, he seems to play poorly.

I agree.....he's having fun, the team is having fun, the fans are having fun..........ok, he's a bit of a showboat, but no worse than a lot of pro players

All the outrage over Cam Newton makes zero sense to me. A lot of people think it's racism. I hope they're wrong. But I don't get why something like this would even happen.

WOW! Irony much? they have two of the most obnoxious/hated players of the 21 century on their tema and they want to ban him? WTF?

And I do think it is a bit racist. I like him. I laugh when he does his bit. I don't like it per se, but it cracks me up. I really like it when folks make a play and then go on about their business without a fuss. but his stuff doesn't bother me.

Great--the biggest storyline coming out of the Super Bowl this season is all those trolls coming out of the woodwork online with their dislike for Panthers QB Cam Newton. It's getting silly and ridiculous and should be treated as such. :p

I've often wondered that myself. How does he get away with it ?
I think certain superstars (specifically quarterbacks) have more leeway. I think if Manning, Brady or Wilson did it, they'd not get flagged as well.

Probably but I think the refs just look at the type of situation/celebration. If someone is going to bust out a full on dance, that's going to be called regardless of who it is. Anything short of that isn't likely to be called. Steven Jackson uses the football like he's playing craps/rolling dice - crouches down, pretending he's rolling the dice and rolls the football; never gets flagged for it.

I personally don't mind football players celebrating after a touchdown, just as long as it isn't in your face (taunting) type of celebration. I personally think it's stupid getting a 15-yard penalty for it. I watched a little bit of the Caroline game and I personally don't think Cam goes overboard.

With that I predict Carolina trouncing Denver unless Cam get hurt early in the game or Carolina acting like Deer in Headlights in the first half.

i'd love to see some of the "i just made a tackle", or the ever popular, "i just made a first down" celebrations get flagged.

This. I don't mind a very vanilla "first down" signal/gesture but when you get a first down on a 2nd and 2 and then you stand and stare for 5 seconds with arm movements and then signalling the first down (I'm looking at you Cam), that should be flagged. I would understand it if it was 3rd or 4th and long, but doing it on early downs with 1 or 2 yards? Really?

Technical difficulties, also meant to post :

Sorry for the interruption. Came across your conversation, the same that I'd had recently. I sent this vid to the one I was talking with. "Just act like you've been there before."

Pure class. Barry Sanders was raised better.

This is what Cam Newton does every game, surprised no one is talking about it. Seems like the media is framing the conversation around touchdowns when that's him at his least obnoxious.

I agree and I don't like that. What can ya do..?

Because the NFL needs more rules and more occasions for flags? No thanks. The rulebook is enough of a mess already, and moments like these would be entirely subjective. So some guy celebrates a first down. Big whoop.
