Technical difficulties, also meant to post :

Sorry for the interruption. Came across your conversation, the same that I'd had recently. I sent this vid to the one I was talking with. "Just act like you've been there before."

Pure class. Barry Sanders was raised better.

I agree and I don't like that. What can ya do..?

Agreed, pure freaking class. Not a Detroit fan, but man was he fun to watch!

I would love to see Manning go out with a SB win, Carolina is definitely talented and hungry but I'm hoping the game is too big for their inexperience, and the Broncos defense has a good game plan for Cam.... If they manage to keep that Panthers team together for the most part I think they'll be back to the SB soon.

This is who I am pulling for also. Go out on top! I am also hoping the game is close and if possible, one of those games that comes down the final seconds!

I'm a long time Detroit Lions fan (Heck, I'm a fan of all Detroit Teams and Michigan) and I used to love watching the Lions played when they had Sanders. I could careless if they won or lost for the most part, for it was exciting seeing Sanders take a would be 5 yard loss and make it a 20 yard gain. There aren't too many running backs that could do that and he did it with style. I remember one game where it look like he was going to be tackle for a loss and ending up running it for a TD, to this day I still don't know how he did it.

As for celebrations, the celebration I can't stand is when a player gets a first down celebrates it by pointing his finger and the team still needs 40 yards for a TD plus they're down by 20 points.

Because the NFL needs more rules and more occasions for flags? No thanks. The rulebook is enough of a mess already, and moments like these would be entirely subjective. So some guy celebrates a first down. Big whoop.

I agree, I'll still call him a douche bag for doing it though.

As a long suffering Detroit Lions fan this doesn't come as a surprise, for Barry Sanders retired early. Though Johnson's case is a little different for he has been injured a lot the last two seasons and I believe in particular was his ankle that was the culprit. You can't blame him, for he is only going to get banged up even worse on a team that just seems to spin its wheels year after year. :(

There's been rumblings about him doing this since the season ended.

I wonder if his manager will tell hime to hold off, until FA, so the Lions cut him. I guess there's two financial issues related to him playing/retiring.

1. if he retires now, he'll have to pay back some of his signing bonus.
2. If he holds off on retiring until FA, the Lions will have a cap hit on their books.

Given both issues, its probably a good idea to have the two work out a compromise.

So far, it looks like the money is being laid down on the Panthers. The line opened at Carolina -3.5 or so (depending on your source) and has moved to about -5.5~6. The o/u started around 45 and ran as high as 47.5 but has dropped back to around 45. Last year, the line was even; the odds-on favorite last won 5 years ago, so maybe we are due.

More crap games on Thursday night, and now NBC is involved.
  • Both CBS and NBC will broadcast five Thursday Night Football games, expanding the package from eight in 2014 and 2015 to 10 broadcast games in 2016 and 2017.
  • All Thursday Night Football games will continue to be simulcast on the NFL Network.
  • NFL Network will also exclusively televise an eight-game schedule of regular season games comprised of Thursday Night Football, late-season games on Saturday, and additional games to be determined.
  • Both CBS and NBC will produce Thursday Night Football with their lead broadcasters and production teams.
  • Both CBS and NBC will contribute to the production of Thursday Night Footballexclusively on NFL Network.
  • CBS and NFL Network will televise the first half of the Thursday Night Footballschedule with NBC and NFL Network televising the second half

Well my hawks didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year but Russell Wilson did his thing at the Pro Bowl.

It was kinda fun to watch. Glad to see it back in Hawaii.
eh? I don't think anyone that sat through it thought it was fun to watch.
I wonder how much longer it will last. Such a pointless game.

Agreed. It reminds me of the Oscars, SAG, etc. Just a bunch of high paid people going around and congratulating themselves about how good they are.

Game tied with 1:38 left... Broncos get the ball and Manning leads the team down for a 42 yard FG attempt with :17 seconds left. Kick is good and the Broncos win by 3.... Peyton rides off in to the sunset.... Roll credits.
