Anybody see the Canadian Qualifying? Interesting grid. With Vettel at the back, hopefully we will see plenty of overtaking! Button's bad luck continues.
And Hamilton was on top of his game all day. After Monaco he really deserves the win. I would love to see Kimi (third) mixing it up with the Mercs but can't see it really.
Was a great quali. I'm a bit lost as to why Mercedes chose to run the engine again when they knew Ferrari we're updating but hell its lined up to be a great race with button and vettle racing from the back and a very very mixed grid. If kimi nails the start over rosberg it'll be even more interesting.

That would be the dream start. Just hope it doesn't become a tyre and brake saving exercise halfway through.

Cooked brakes will certainly be a deciding factor. But I'm not sure who will take care of their's the best.
If Vettel has to race from the back, there are bound to be a few late brakes that won't help his any. Of course that's assuming he has sorted out his power issues.

With his penalty for overtaking under a red he's going to be right at the back. Anyone following will suffer. 85 minutes to go ahhhh

Well done Lewis. Nico kept him honest, but as predicted to much brake and fuel saving to make it a great race to watch.
Alonso is not a happy bunny. I think we can all see why. Mixing it up at the back is not fun.

I'll disagree about nico keeping him honest given the lack of fuel nico couldn't have tried if he wanted to. But yes great race!

So the Ferrari's look quick in Austria. So really hope its a four way race for the front row tomorrow.
That track doesn't seem to gel with Lewis. I'm wondering what delights red bull have in store for us tomorrow with two drivers on new engines. What colour smoke.. Blue or white?

alonso will win from the parking lot. you'll see.
I'll take that bet. How much you want to wager? :D
As for Qualifying it's just as well those Mercs got their runs in on their first runs.
It was a very strange end to the session.
Let's hope for a drop of rain tomorrow to spice things up.

Which is terrible for F1, because F1 needs McLaren and Honda to do well, especially with the chance Renault will bow out after this season.

If Renault leave Red Bull will have to take some significant blame. When they were winning championships, the exhaust blowing was perfected by Renault yet Red Bull gave them barely any credit. Now they're losing, according to Horner it's "85% because of Renault". You win and lose together Christian.

Yes the whole thing stinks a bit doesn't it. If I can't win I'm not going to race. As far as I can tell, Mercedes aren't breaking any rules. They just have the best engine. Even when Red Bull were winning I think the Mercs were fastest in a straight line. But the loss of down force at RBR has made them pretty mediocre.

hmmp. mclaren u are killing me.
...24 grid places is way, way too harsh. With several teams retiring from the odd race because a metric or two means they want to hedge their bets and save the engine, they either need to lower the penalty or up the engine limit, or take Bernie out and dump him - preferably all three. This is ridiculous.

I think it's not really Bernie's fault, but in hindsight they should have delayed entry for a year. Apparently they have an innovative V6 layout which should allow for more potential speed than the standard layout. Unfortunately their MGU-K is underpowered and their system as a whole is unreliable. JB must be having kittens as this is eerily reminiscent of the first season Renault came back as he was driving for Benetton at the same time and the season was essentially an extended test run. The only saving grace is that unlike at Red Bull, the relationship with McLaren and Honda is not disintegrating before the press, with some class shown by the team and the drivers.

Well done Nico. He got the best of Hamilton in a fair race today. That's what we all want to see. All set up for a great British Grand Prix next time out.
Was disappointed with Ferrari. I thought they were going to do better. Of course not that Kimi had a chance to do anything. That crash looked nasty, but good to see two ex world champions walk away unhurt.
Glad to see Massa on the podium. I've always liked him as a driver, and at this stage in his career, there are not going to be too many more opertunaties to sip the Champagne.
Both McLaren's out again which is such a shame. Especially as most of their upgrades ended up in the bin. Hopefully testing can help them find some much needed pace and reliability.

So it's the big one, the British Grand Prix!
Will it be a home win for Hamilton?
Will McLaren manage to finish?
Will Ferrari or Williams be able to take it to the Mercs?
Colleague of mine is there today taking photos. I'm a bit jealous. But I bet he gets sunburnt as its already a scorcher.
