What happened in the NBCSN broadcast? We went straight from Q2 to final grid without showing Q3. The late Q2 accident surely wasn't enough to require the track be shut down, it was just a busted rear suspension and he got the car to the pit lane on its own power.

i enjoyed that race as well...

missed it when he went out, so what happened with Alonso... anyone?

KUDOS TO ALEX ROSSI!!
Gearbox issues so he retired.

Good to see someone other than the Mercs on the podium. Lots of incidents.
Felt sorry for Button though. Looked like he was on for some good points at one point.
It will be interesting to see if either Ferrari or RBR can maintain the momentum in Japan next week.

I wonder why Rosberg didn't switch to the super-softs for the last stint. Only ~20 laps with a light car and he clearly didn't have the pace otherwise.

Mercedes' tire issue is bizarre, they've never had problems with getting adequate acceleration out of corners before.

I am glad about the result, but the race was very boring, notwithstanding vettel's perfect racing.
the only entertainment was given by kamikaze-hulkenberg and of course my boy verstappen ("you need to swap positions." "No.")

no wonder the crazy dude found it on himself to provide some on-track excitement!
:D

button needs to retire.

Button needs to retire because?? Hardly his fault that the power house in his car comes from a Honda Civic. Alonso who many consider to be one of the best current drivers is hardly doing better is he?

mclaren and honda most definitively need to up their game -by orders of magnitude- but alonso is consistently doing a lot better than button, who has lost the appetite and the edge.
while i agree it sucks having your last year being confined in a tractor, the time has come.
he has had a truly splendid career, and this last year will not impact his legacy in any way

11 points vs 6. Not much difference IMO. The cars a lemon.

I'm not sure there was ever a point in F1 where anyone thought or said that Button was better than Alonso, even in 2009 when Jenson won his only title. So to say that Alonso now outperforming Button is cause for Jenson's retirement doesn't make any sense. It doesn't sound like he's lost the appetite either. It's probably more like they made an agreement that Jenson would get one more year and Magnussen would sit out this season. Then Jenson can retire as a McLaren driver or seek a spot elsewhere. If he's unable to get a drive, he'll probably retire.

I personally think JB is still a pretty decent driver.

it's hard to see any "fire" or "drive" in the tub of bolts they parade around this season.

maybe they will unleash the beast in the last few races...?

Just got 4 free tickets to the Austin F1 race :D
That's great news. Are WE going for the qualifying as well?

On the Button thing, the news is he will announce his retirement in Japan and be one of the new hosts of TopGear.
Given his age and past successes, I'm not surprised he's fed up with driving for a team who struggle to get out of Q1.

I suppose he's retiring before he is past it. He's driving very well at the moment as well as Alonso but the car/engine is terrible. I can see Alonso following him to be honest. That will be a shame and a blow to F1.
