11 points vs 6. Not much difference IMO. The cars a lemon.
not much difference in points, maybe, but a lot of difference in performance, at least in my opinion.
and yes, the cars are embarrassing, so maybe with a decent car he would still have it.

he would be a brilliant top gear host, i think, plus he can still gets occasional guest drives in other series

That's great news. Are WE going for the qualifying as well?

On the Button thing, the news is he will announce his retirement in Japan and be one of the new hosts of TopGear.
Given his age and past successes, I'm not surprised he's fed up with driving for a team who struggle to get out of Q1.

let's see that's you, me, @elit3nemesis ... one more...?

So wet practice and the Mercs are top of the pile at the moment. So was Singapore a one off, or will Ferrari take it to them in Japan?
Sadly I've got to go to work now, so not going to get to watch the rest of the practice.

No one is close to the silver arrows. F1 is in trouble and Merc's value in dominating the season doesn't do them (or anyone else) any favors. They slipped up a bit in Singapore and will slip up on every track remaining where their car isn't as "dominant". If Merc wanted to, they could blow everyone away whenever they wanted.

Ferrari has the resources to recover but the way the regulations are constructed, even if they poured 500 million into development, they can't do enough to overcome the performance of where the Merc is already at. I still think Red Bull has a good enough designed car to compete at the top, could even still be the best, but with that Renault engine they have absolutely no chance. Merc has another 2-3 seconds in their pocket. If you look hard enough, you'll see it. They will the championship this season and again next year.

I like a nice early morning qualifying and race. Means you get the rest of the weekend to do other stuff.
Looks dry as well, so lots of frantic set ups this morning in final practice I'm sure.

BOTTAS!

or NICO!

anyone else still not a fan of the new F1 site? i simply hate it. for me it is still awkward to navigate and hard to find what i'm looking for. and i'm not paying for a membership!

Rosberg will be grateful to Kvyat for that red flag. Hamilton has been consistently 3-6 tenths ahead. Looks like a good race and hope these two battle it out!
I agree it helped Nico. Whether he can convert it into a win, maybe. Passing on track isn't that easy, especially when you have the same car. But I think Lewis will look to get it done in the first few hundred yards.
As for Kvyat, especially on the anniversary of Jules's accident it looked a nasty one. But he looked unscathed. Just shows how safe these cars are.

Haha me too! I don't like it one bit. It looks better on a tablet but even still, it bothers me to navigate through it.

Hey boys! Called it yesterday. Mercedes blew and will continue to blow everyone away. Until the regulations changes, no one can compete with their engine/package.

Good win for Hamilton. I can't quite believe he's being scrutinised for his textbook overtake on Nico by certain media outlets! Absolutely fair and square. People who don't understand motor racing shouldn't be allowed to publish articles. :p

Agree that Lewis did nothing wrong at the start. Nico just isn't as good a racer as Lewis, especially this season.
Mercedees did everything right to recover from the start to jump Williams and Ferrari.
As for the GP2 comments by Alonso, I can't really blame him. He is doing everything right, and still seeing drivers who are nowhere near as good as him flying past.
But will he stay on? Only if he can see a massive improvement from Honda for 2016.
I think he had imagined they would be more competitive by now.

Looks like Alonso and Button will carry on in 2016 according to Ron Dennis.
I hope they get a better package, as I hate to see them struggling so much.
I know they haven't let this on yet, but I anticipate a shakeup at HPD over this nonsense. Honda is not a brand known as a punching bag at anything.

If reports are any indication the chassis is actually pretty good, it's the hybrid portion of the engine that's having problems. The electric motors can't keep up long enough to get them through a long straight so they're easily passed at the end.

It's true the electric motor doesn't get enough juice from the kers. But the combustion engine also under preformes.
The chassis is a bit of an unknown, as a car that corners well but is down on power, may not do as well in the corners if it arrives at the apex with a bit more speed.
They under achieved when they had a Mercedees engine, but who knows what they have done since then.

So one of the worst kept secrets in F1 is official, Renult are buying Lotus.
But though it might resolve Lotus's financial issues, not sure it will do them any favours on the track. Renult have the third best engine. With their best driver moving to Hass, that just leaves Pasta Maldonado who is pretty inconsistent IMO be interesting to see who partners him.
Rumour is Prost will play a part in team running, rather like Niki Lauder at Mercedees.

This may be true, but it's good for Renault and F1 over the longer term. The real question is whether or not RBR leaves.

Renault, the artist formally known as Lotus, will have a ferrari power plant?

I think they were referring to the Red Bull teams who are currently both running Renault engines. I think it's safe to assume that Lotus will have the Renault engine if the buyout goes ahead as expected.

Meanwhile, it's been announced that Force India and Sauber are going to war with Bernie.

F1 teams lodge official EU complaint over 'unfair' structure

Don't expect to see any sign their cars on the TV coverage again this season after Ecclestone allegedly froze out Mercedes from the coverage of the last race because they had upset him by not offering to supply engines to Red Bull.
