definitely should have been yanked, and yes, that is very easy for me to say in hindsight.

collins blundered by not pulling him, the exact opposite of the blunder dusty baker made in '02 by pulling ortiz.

oh well. i don't care for either team and hope they both miss the playoffs next year.

as for harvey, i like the attitude, he wanted to get the job done. i respect that.

The only traditional fastball pitcher I have seen successfully rebuild his career after a string of injuries is actually fellow Mets great R.A. Dickey. I saw a fascinating documentary on him and in the early days he had a mean fastball he could build a professional career around that he had to ditch. His arm seemed to be on again off again and like 99% percent of pitchers it looked like his career was over. He even had a physical defect in is throwing arm from birth that may have forced him to go to the knuckleball. But then in a year against guys like Greinke and Kershaw, the Mets Dickey gets the Cy Young in 2012.

and One thing I could never understand is when fans get mad at other fans because they dont say what they want to hear...
The Mets had a good season in a crap division. They needed to play 4 spotless games to win to beat a near perfect Royals team. The pressure got to them in the end. Mets fans have a lot to be proud of. They just were not ready this year. Do they have enough to go again next year. Who knows. Do the Royals have enough to repeat. These are all questions for the hot stove.

It was a fun series and IMO the better team won.

I would not be surprised if Royals and Mets make postseason in 2016 MLB year. Both rocked it and it was no fluke that they both got to World Series.

I am not so sure about my team even getting that far, especially due to propensity for injuries over last several seasons. Something is not being done right and maybe time to rotate players more. There are so many factors that have to be in place for a team to win World Series and it's never a gimme.

i hope not.

If my team doesn't make it then I go for Oakland, but other than that I don't care that much.

Well, as long as LAD isn't in it then I am OK.
And Seattle Seahawks not in the NFL playoffs. I will be the first to say both those teams are better on every level than the San Francisco teams that represent those sports, but even if Dodgers and Seahawks were not a threat, they are always up for a game against San Francisco. I guess that's what makes rivalries interesting. The LA Dodgers were way better than us over an entire MLB season but we owned them on head to head meetings. It's like we bring out the best in them and vice versa. It must have been even more intense when the Washington Heights NYC Giants were going against the geographically close Brooklyn Dodgers.

Thor speaks to Mets fans ;)View attachment 597768

I think with their surgeries and inconsistencies with their arms, three of the Mets starters don't have a lasting future other than bullpen. But Thor is young and still intact and he may be your franchise player. If his World Series performance is any indication, building a team around him as your #1 and adding some small ball hitters to your lineup will put you in postseason in 2016. I know when my Giants inevitably lose Lincecum, Cain, Vogelsong, or Peavy to age or injury, then Thor will be on the top of SF's shopping list. I think every team needs a lights out #1 starter at the very least to do well in baseball, and you have your man.

I hope your manager is smart enough to know this.

The Giants owe their success more to the manager Bruce Boche and his main secret was to keep the rotation young and or healthy. There were no brownie points for player popularity or past accomplishments.

We could have built our 2010 team around Barry Zito because he had the AL Cy Young and was on the famous Moneyball Oakland A's team and that people all over the Bay Area loved him. People wanted it to be around Zito and Lincecum, but Zito's spot was taken by a young, non-Cy Young winner in Matt Cain.

In 2012 Lincecum didn't put out so his postseason spot went to Zito who was a rare, older standout, but he was healthy. Cain pitched a perfect game that season and played well throughout at was Cy Young worthy so he stayed on postseason rotation.

But then in 2014 when fans were still longing for Lincecum (totally not there in his pitching in his great 2008-2011 seasons) and Matt Cain (who was still considered the hero of 2012 with the only franchise perfect game) our manager went to Madison Bumgarner as the first starter over Cain. This made some mad thinking Cain deserved it with more dues paid. In this year pitchers like Hudson and Peavy got in as postseason starters where Lincecum was sent to bullpen.

You have to have a strong ERA but also be healthy to get one of four postseason pitching spots. I don't think it's worth it to take a chance on surgically rebuilt players (deGrom, Harvey, Matz) and go with Thor for now. Don't you have a healthy bullpen pitcher or two who could step up to starter status?

nah. one done mets fans. sorry.
I have to agree. The Cubs and Pirates will be much better next year. This was a tight window for the Mets in an up and coming NL race.

Will they win the NL East. Probably easily. It's the rest of the league that they have to worry about.
