I hope the Mets win and this eventually goes to 7. It's easy for me to say not being a specific fan of either team, but at the same time respecting both squads. I only dislike the Dodgers so I could watch this series stress free.

If the Mets were the home team and they were down 0-2 heading into three games in Kansas City, then I could see the Royals putting down a knockout punch. But the series is headed to New York and not to the friendliest fans in baseball. It will be tough for KC to be loose.
The fans won't be friendly to the Mets if they start out sluggish. KC is up 2 games, how are they not loose.

As mentioned, it was at the request of his family. WTF does that have to do with "big MLB checks to keep coming"? You sound like a disgruntled Mets homer.

Cause if the decision was from his Mom, it would have been a diff. story...what does me being a Mets fan have to do with this family issue. Nothing.

If Volquez's dad died just before the game, I don't see any issues with waiting a few hours to tell Volquez. All the complaints people are posting about Kansas City are starting to sound like sour grapes by Mets fans.

Again, my comment is based on family PRIORITIES not baseball competition.

Your comment is based on your team losing. Had the Mets won you would not care if he pitched or not.

Why are you bothered by it at all? Are you personally invested in his life?

How loose could you be if New Yorkers throw D batteries at you? ;) KC is going to walk into a lion's den. To say the least it will be interesting.

You are thinking of Philly. Maybe they do that crap in Queens but not in the Bronx.

Isn't the Mets stadium in Queens?

That's going to truly be intimidating or at least according to my NYC born, Yankees fan wife. She says the Mets fans are the most aggressive fans.

She lied to you. Divorce her now!!!

Mets fans I would say are more passionate only because they are not used to winning, so when the team is good they are riled up. Yankees fans were definitely more aggressive before, but now the new Yankee Stadium has priced out all the true baseball fans and all you have are corporate suits sitting in the lower levels who are uppity and most of the time not really in to the game. With the exception of 1 all of my friends and family are Yankee fans and they wholeheartedly agree with this, they've told me going to a yankee game is just not the same any more.

Mets fans like to bitch and moan about how ownership sucks and that they should sell the team. :p

Wrong again...how would you know? you live in Connecticut lol
underdog teams are always more passionate and aggressive, end of discussion.

You do know that Connecticut is a part of the tri-state area right?
Do you also not count Jersey? Or anything outside of Queens? And how are the Mets underdogs? Win tonight before calling yourself aggressive. They are 0-2.

I too agree. The SF Giants fans get so riled up too because of not winning in SF since the late-1950s until their first in 2010. That was a very long stretch of not winning and longer that either KC or NYM.

But it is still amazing that the last time either KC or NYM won was when Ronald Reagan was president. A loaf of bread was about dollar, annual income $13K, and the average new car was $6,800 bucks.

Mets are all in. They showed just as much heart in the record game 1. Game 2 was an unheard of pitching performance by KC and probably not to be repeated by either team this series.

Mets 5-2 is my guess for tonight. I think Mets will take 2 out of 3 at home and this will all go to at least 6 games. I don't know who here thinks KC can sweep. If KC sweeps it would be a way to partially erase the heartbreaking game 7 loss at home in last years World Series. But if KC loses, nobody will say they aren't a good team because at the very least they put together back to back AL pennants. That also goes for Texas who didn't win the big one but put together back to back AL pennants in 2010 and 2011. As dynasty crowned as the Giants are they never even got to the postseason back to back with their current, great squad.

this is true, but the Wilpons are absolutely atrocious owners. They fell a$$ backwards in to this good team this year by luckily having the right people running the team.

I think if the Mets don't win tonight's game, this series is pretty much over for them.

The Mets need a win tonight. I don't believe there have been many teams who have come back to win it after losing the first 3 games, but I guess it's possible. However, after Tuesday nights game it's not looking too good for the Mets at this point.

Mets pitching has to be perfect if they are going to win. The Royals hitters are just that good. And with a lead their pen is lights out. One mistake could cost the mets the series.

It's only happened once in the history of postseason baseball. 2004 the Redsox beat the Yankees after being down 0-3..... So yeah I would say if the mets lose tonight this one is pretty much over.

Yes, they are definetly hitting well. The problem that I've seen so far for the Met's is their pitchers and in game 2 their outfielders missed balls that while were hit well, could have been played better to keep the players from advancing the way they did. Either way, this is the first World Series that I've enjoyed watching even though I've lost sleep.

Has it ever happened in the World Series?

The Yankees fell apart in '04. And the World Series is a lot different from the ALCS.

You may have to bring him back on short rest if KC wins tonight. Harvey and deGrom don't have it.

SF Giants had to bring back Madbum back on short rest because otherwise dominant Peavy, Vogelsong, and Hudson simply did not show up as the starters they could be.

This is not about how good the pitchers are in their career but where their arm is that week. You need a guy who can reliably throw that third strike and Thor is it right now. I wouldn't trust entire season to anybody else if it came down to getting behind 3-1 in the series. Your closer got the job done, too.

I hope this series is determined in Kansas City and not just a 5 game event.
