The model number or whatever of the actual 15" macbook pro with touch pad is different than the one that was listed in the photo.

Although it's a faked photo, I learned at least that there are much more people than I imagined like me lurking behind this thread. Lol

This has been proven false and has literally never been the case ever with new Apple products. Also you registered 6 hours ago.
How was it proven false? They changed my shipping to Next Day at no cost and my order moved up two days...

I was able to call Apple and have them bump my shipping up to Expedited, which moved my estimated delivery date up by 4 days.

How? I have spoken with Apple on two occasions and they stated it was not possible to get complementary expedited shipping. You have to pay for it.

lol about the faster shipping, either Apple is lying to me that they said it is IMPOSSIBLE, or that you guys are all lying! haha

I just got off the phone with Apple and they said they cannot change the shipping. It would actually further delay the shipping. The lady stated that because it is a new product, all of them are going to ship in a similar manner. I was told that once my CC is charged, chances are high that it will be shipping within 24 hours.

Don't know about that. Many people were charged 48 hours ago with no change in status.

Also, I was charged earlier this morning, but could still cancel my order so it couldn't have been shipped yet.

Ugh, so I originally ordered without student discount (was in a rush). I contacted Apple later that night and they were able to discount it. When I got billed last night it was the original price! Agh! Not sure if I should wait to contact them so I can get it first and then a refund, or contact them now.

I wonder if they shipped already but haven't said anything yet? It could be that they are waiting till the laptops are in the US before giving the tracking number?

To everyone saying you can get faster shipping.. you can't, lol. If you got charged I don't know what to tell you. You will probably get a refund when your order actually ships or you should probably get a refund via your bank if you do not.

Apple ALWAYS SHIPS PREORDERS WITH THE FASTEST PRIORITY SHIPPING. It's been like this for quite sometime. There is no way you are getting faster shipping than anyone else.. it's not possible. I've heard this from the chat, from phone calls, from Apple Store workers.. it isn't possible. I also know this from past years and can tell you with 110% certainty your order already ships with the fastest shipping method.

Back when this thread started dozens of people debunked this by calling them and talking to managers of reps at Apple.

EDIT: and to people saying that their order "moved up", odds are you were already in that batch and they just adjusted your dates to match. Apple always does this "underpromise overdeliver" thing with ship dates, it's extremely common. again this has been discussed to death already.

This should be obvious but I figured I would share in case someone was actually told different by Apple. I had mine changed to 2-3 day delivery with no charge and it bumped up my delivery date by 3 days. She made a point to say that it does not impact when your order departs the factory. It only impacts how fast you get your package once it gets to your country. She told me instead of getting it within 5-7 days of it being in the country, I would get it within 2-3 days.

I remember when I ordered my iPhone 7 Plus, I did not get a shipping notification until it left the original sorting facility in the U.S. So I assume it came from China or wherever first, and then a shipping notification was sent out after it left the sorting facility here in the U.S.

Just thought I'd share to see if someone else was told different.

What you just stated is exactly what Apple customer support just told me (see my post above). Nice to know.

In 2012 I updated to express shipment for an order of the 2012 rMBP (preorder) and an 11" Air...not preordered. That cost me $27. It allowed shipping via Fedex which goes air to my location vs UPS that they usually ship which goes by ground once in Canada. On my more recent orders in 2015, I left shipping alone and they went by UPS which adds about 3-4 days driving a truck from Alberta to Yukon on the good ol Alaska Hwy.

So back then upgrading the shipping did make a difference in my case by moving it to Fedex over UPS. But back then that was an option I could select while ordering. Now there is no option when preordering these new things. Therefore I think that it won't make a difference for those who were upgraded unless the regular shipping will go by ground once in the US and the ones who did upgrade will continue by air. Obviously all will ship out of China to Anchorage and on to Kentucky? via air but maybe it will change after that??

Yep, anyone can confirm. Just add a MBP to your bag at apple.com and go thru the checkout process and you'll see that standard shipping is the only option. If there was a faster option, you better believe Apple would charge you for it make it available.

Well, just an fyi to you all, my order status page also removed the gift message option. And this is what an Apple rep said on chat - "Right now, I believe that my shipping team is getting that ready for you right now".
