As soon as they went on sale I ordered a 15" space grey base model, except with 1TB SSD. Delivers Nov. 17 - 25th.

I got an email from Apple yesterday.

"We appreciate your recent purchase from the Apple Store. Following is an update regarding the status of your order.

Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following item(s)...."

Nooooo!

Then I read further. The delay was for the USB-C to USB dongle. The laptop is still scheduled for 11/17 - 11/25.

Weird thing was the dongle was supposed to arrive 10/31, the email said it would be delayed until 11/1. It arrived today. I hope the laptop gets "delayed" in the same way.

Got the new MacBook Pro without Touch Bar awaiting to get the one with Touch Bar!

The exact same thing happened to me!

Hi All –

Like the rest of you, I’ve been waiting forever for the new Macbook Pros to arrive so I can upgrade my work machine. I’m hoping to get a bit of help choosing which machine, and have a couple of questions. I’d really appreciate any feedback from the community:

My machine will be primarily used for three things:
(1) Graphic design, specifically heavy use in photoshop, indesign, and illustrator
(2) Audio production in Logic X (and I mix with more than a healthy amount of plugins)
(3) 15,000 hours of Civ VI

I’m between:
(A) Maxed out 13” (3.3 Dual i7, 16GB, 1TB, Iris 550) - $2,899
(B) Base level 15” (2.6 Quad i7, 16GB, 1 TB, Radeon Pro 450 2GB) - $2,999
(C) Next level 15” (2.7 Quad i7, 16GB, 1 TB, R Pro 455 with 2GB) - $3,199
Bonus question of whether it's worth bumping the graphics up to the 460 4GB)

My biggest question is - for what I will be using the machine for, will I see the most improvement from an upgraded processor or graphics card? Is the 2.6GHz processor notably better than a maxed out 2.9? Quad vs dual? Radeon vs Iris (then Radeon 2GB vs 4GB)?

Sorry for the long post, but when you shell out this money, I just want to make sure I’m squeezing the most out of it.

Thanks!

If you go for the 15", then definitely get the 460 GPU with 4 Vram. The extra price isn't much, and I consider that a must have upgrade. No questions asked.

Ordered standard 15" today , I will receive it November 28 - December 5. Feels good but man it was expensive. The price is one thing but hey.. It will last me a couple of years I guess. Pickup was not available at the Apple Store, too bad.

Why is the 460 a must have upgrade? Is it because of adobe software or the gaming? I don't want to have to cancel and reorder but I don't do any gaming but so use photoshop, indesign, and illustrator.

You get a substantial increase in performance and double the Vram for a smallish increase in the price. That extra Vram can make a difference if you game at fairly high resolution and overall those 4 GB vram is just more in line with requirements in 2016.

Scroll down that page to see the specs for the 3 GPU options.
[doublepost=1477762801][/doublepost]Both Photoshop CC and Capture One Pro 9 recommends 2 GB or greater of VRAM for GPU supported task, so it won't be surprising if that goes up with the next versions.

Best deal i could find anywhere. They also offer 30 up to 30 months of 0% payment plan. If you select 10 months payment you can get 150 Euros discount.

Still in 2 minds

In regards to the 15 inch 2016 mbp need some advice on configuration

Is it better to go for the base 2.6 ghz processor and bump up amd radeon 460 or go for the slightly bumped up 2.7 ghz processor with the amd radeon 455?

Grateful for any advice thanks

Oh the 2.6GHz with Radeon 460 1000%.

Don't even think twice about this, you'll just give yourself more anxiety. It's a no-brainer.

I ordered the base 13" with touchbar for November 17-25 delivery. Went to the Apple Store today and asked if I could switch delivery to pick it up at the store. They told me there's no option to do that and it would probably be at least a month or so before they'd have an in store pick up option.

Same here. Hoping they ship out a bit before that though, and honestly wouldn't be surprised if they do.

I ordered a base silver 15" MBP model. For some reason I just love doing development on a larger display. I was debating between a 13" and 15" with 16GB of ram. However, I wanted to keep this machine for at least 3 years or so.

I noticed that in the almost two years I've had my rMB that I've barely used half of the space on it and when I clean up the stuff on it I no longer need. I will have a ton of free space. I'm wondering if I shouldn't change to the space gray model even though I'm a silver person. Both my 9.7" iPad Pro and iPhone are silver. Buying a black device feels wrong to me.

If Apple had created a pitch black model, I would've done that model but space gray is kinda meh... to me right now but I feel like maybe I'd like the difference from the previous MacBooks.
I'm actually leaning towards a silver 15" myself. The space gray looks nice, but I think I prefer the clean, crisp-looking traditional Apple aluminum rather than the darker SG.

I have a bunch of space left on my 256GB 2013 13" MBP, so I definitely don't need larger than a 512GB SSD. I think I'm going to stick with the stock 2.7GHz 15" model.

Wondering why the 2.7GHz model is not so popular.

I can't wait to hold this machine in my hands. Considering the performance increase is only 5% and it has the same L3 Cache as the 2.9GHz version, I am very fine with my choice for it.

@Dead0k
Yes, they are okay.

TBH if you look at GPU benchmarks for CS6, it is kinda negligible. Illustrator is usually bound by your CPU rather than your GPU, and just use the GPU to accelerate the display/zooming, while InDesign is basically an Illustrator for layout (vector graphics).

https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Adobe-Photoshop-CS6-GPU-Acceleration-161/

You can always pay the price to upgrade. Just that it might not worth if you do not game or run GPU compute stuff (e.g. renderer) at all.

If you are willing to pay the price for a <5% increase in performance.

GPU:
460 is fine if you are fine with the price, and you really want to game seriously on your Mac, or you run apps that do GPGPU computing, and are known to scale with GPUs. Say a ray tracer, or rendering in FCPX/Premier.

Because the delta between the 2.6GHz and the 2.7Ghz model is more or less the same as 2.7 vs 2.9. This is how CPU scales nowadays - very powerful but not every app response well. In fact, generally most of them does not scale linearly.

This is the first MacBook I've ordered directly from Apple. Other products I've ordered have shipped earlier than the quoted or at least at the earlier date in the range.

I pre-ordered a MacBook Pro 15", the 2,6Ghz model in my local Elkjøp store here in Norway, and I got 20% discount, so instead of paying $3000 thats the price here for that model, I only paid $2400 and I dont need to pay until 6 months have gone without any fees at all. Very happy about that deal! :)

Yup. Same has happened to me, I believe this happened when I ordered my rMBP way back in 2012 when the 15in originally came out. It came like.. a week or so before in was supposed to. A lot of times they'll put out quote times until they have a solid real time shipping date for the first couple batches I'd assume.
