It's not Apple we're defending. Just some of us were taken aback by your "if I don't get it before the Americans I'm picking up my toys and going home" attitude. How ludicrous that you spent thousands for an item you wanted, but no LONGER want it, not because it'll arrive late; or even at the tail end your order estimate, but because it won't arrive before the Americans. How absolutely, positively ludicrous. It was a ridiculous thing to say and you were called out on it my friend. I don't mean any offense and I'm not trying to argue (remember you can't convey tone on the internet). I just genuinely was trying to understand what was, frankly, a bizarre thing to say. What you said, basically, was "if I can't have it before you, I don't want it at all". You later recanted with a feeling that you didn't have all the information but I don't think it works the way you think it does.
And I'm afraid I disagree with "Phil Schiller should've said which countries get it when". First off, nobody has one, so we have no idea when everyone will end up getting them. Others have pointed out that European orders sometimes lag in tracking. You may get yours early next week too.
Second, this thread is dominated by Americans followed by some in the EU. But Apple sells to a lot of countries.
And finally, standing on stage? He probably had no idea. This is a huge logistical undertaking. The 2-3 week window is revealing here. Apple frequently has firm launch dates. Not this time. Clearly Apple was still wrapping up just how those logistical things were going to go. Phil Schiller probably didn't know when anyone was going to get theirs outside of that window!
