My Space Gray 15" 2.9/2TB/460 and AppleCare charges just hit my card!

Ordered 29-Oct @ 11:00a EDT with originally set for ship to store on 5-Dec.

Still shows Processing and the date has not changed yet.

Fraud protection blocked the MacBook order because it was so large and I had to call and authorize it. After that, I logged into the order page and updated and then it charged.

Edit: 8 minutes later shows PFS. Now I am sad as I leave for Spain until 4-Dec and no way, with USA holiday this week, it will arrive before I travel this Saturday. I certainly hope the Apple Store will hold it that long!

Let me know how it works out for you!

Glad I could help!

Wow, wow, wow! Martian, I owe you a 6-pack of craft beer! If you don't drink alcohol, then I can always buy you a gallon of premium ice cream. (Everyone loves ice cream, right?) If our paths ever cross...

Your advice paid off! Late last night I emailed Apple's Business Team and before my local Apple Store opened today they emailed me back and said that they had the config I was looking for and he would have it set aside for me when I arrived. This is pretty huge for me!

Background:
- Originally ordered 60 seconds after pre-orders started. Would have been a Day One delivery.
- Canx'd order on Nov 4th after deciding that I wasn't buying a laptop that didn't have 32 GB of RAM.
- When deliveries started arriving in people's hands, I started hearing great reports from photographers.
- I spoke to a colleague (fellow working photographer/videographer) that said his new MBP was smooth as butter with his Canon 5DsR files and while processing Canon 1D X Mark II 4K 60fps video files in FCP X.
- I decided to pull the trigger again and I placed a pre-order with Apple and a pre-order with Adorama.
- Apple's new delivery date was Dec 22-28.
- Apple is great at delivering on time, but I am departing on Jan 1 for a 2-month photography field assignment and I became concerned about pushing it to close.
- It's over an hour drive to my local Apple Store, so I just couldn't afford to "pop in" and see if they had stock.

Fast forward to last night and The Martian told me about Apple's Business Program. I qualify for this program as a full-time working photographer (not just a hobby) and not only did I get instant results, but I also received spectacular customer service. The guy I worked with was very smart, we talked tech in great detail...and quite literally, he met with me at the store within 30 seconds of arriving where he immediately handed me my MBP in a bag, ready to go. One swipe of the credit card and I was done. The entire process, including the handshake, took about 70 seconds.

15" Space Gray, 2.9, 1 TB, 460 GPU.

I'm about to unbox it and couldn't be more excited! 5-6 week wait? Nope, not any more! :)

Thrilled for you. Im waiting for the same results but alas not today here in Phoenix. Im going in the morning. I did place a order through the business section as well on Saturday and delivery is 1/3. I can't wait that long. Im a 40 year working Pro shooter as well, i need my laptop NOW. LOL

What city are you in. Not sure any made it to the Southwest yet. My one concern is Saturday I gave them my debit card and they already took the money from my bank. My worry is a cancel and charge card immediately or worse use a credit card get my refund and just pay the credit card. I did exactly this 3 years ago with my 2013 high end. So been here done that but Im worried this time as many have ordered BTO it seems, worse they found out my trick on getting one. ROTFLMAO

I do have a business specialist watching stock for me. Very nice folks

Happy for you

Congrats, very exciting! I'm in the same delivery bracket, but with the stock 13" so I'm hoping to see movement soon, too! But it looks like the BTO models get first priority like previous batches
Man that would make me super happy if the BTO orders truly are getting priority! UGH COME ON APPLE SHIP THEM. lol

your signature is out of date. ;)

me to butttttt mines been stuck preparing for shipping since friday!!!!!

yours shipped??? mines stuck on preparing for shipping and i have the same deadlin nov25-dec5th
[doublepost=1479769191][/doublepost]

do u think the 2.9 is worth it over the 2.7?
yes, I personally do. honestly my justifications with it were simply having the fastest everything is always worth it... just not necessarily the most storage. 1TB is insane by itself... I didn't need 2. Plus for what I do I'll use external hard drives to keep my baby mostly clean anyways and running smoothly.
but anyways, I really do think the faster processor will be worth it. I mean.... "faster" and "processor" just sound good together, right? ;)
[doublepost=1479786466][/doublepost]
I could be totally wrong on that! That's just the pattern I noticed in the first few waves
I see what you mean. Honestly though I've been trying my hardest to figure out a pattern and for the life of me I couldn't find anything. At all! People with complete base stock models and people with maxed out models were being shipped together. This one guy who had the same machine as me ordered his literally the day after and his went PFS two days before me. I was so confused

Thanks -- appreciate it! I have to admit, I was jones'ing pretty bad to get this new one and it was driving me crazy waiting. I remember you saying you were leaving at the end of December on a 2-week trip. I'm in a similar situation -- in early January I'm heading to Florida to photograph birds for 7 weeks and then a few weeks after that, I'm headed to Panama to document a group of ornithologists that are working on an extended project, so I really needed to get this new MBP now so I could fully ops check it before heading out on these trips.

Have no fear, I would be shocked if the business team did not find one for you in the next week or two. Are you getting the 1 TB version? It seems like the 2.9, 1 TB 460 is what Apple is putting out there the most. Or so it seems based on the reports I've seen here.

My fingers are crossed for you. I hope it comes soon!

Thank you!! Yes, in addition to The Martian giving me the idea that finally worked, I have received a ton of support and encouragement from everyone else here and I really appreciate it! Now, I just hope that the rest of you get your order earlier than expected and that every thing is just perfect.

Really happy for you! I just got the same configuration today as well and couldn't be happier! I'll be using my MBP for college (Computer Engineering) so I'll be using software that could get graphic intensive. I'm really looking forward to using this MacBook for at least 4 or 5 years.

One guess from the production line the standard configs are one a certain line so no change parts going on with production. It's the same dang 256 chip on every product a worker deals with for example. Than othe lines that deal with let's say 512 chip and other parts. If you look at all the configurations available it's quite a large number so they could be breaking the lines up in groups or something like that. So some orders will go faster. Just a thought , I don't have answers but production lines are setup different ways for efficiency.

Seeing A LOT of 2.7/512/455 base units available at the ARS tomorrow, pretty much all of the stores in northern California, if they had a TB unit, would be all over it.

Canceled order for, 15 inch , 2.9 ghz, 460 radeon, and went to the store and picked up a 15 inch, 2.6, 450. Honestly, love the thing. Could not be more impressed with the keyboard. Feel like I am typing much faster. Downloading all my music production stuff at the moment, looking forward as a shift from my white MacBook late 2009 unibody. Touch bar thing, really comes in handy for many apps, helps with workflow.

I was a little disappointed at first, but I figured if I could use Ableton live 9 suite, native instruments Maschine 2, and iMovie, with my 2009 white unibody (obviously very laggy towards the later years), I figured any 15 inch, quad core, with designated graphics would be enough for my needs, hopefully for another 7 years. Still downloading the programs, hope I was not mistaken .
