Just out of curiosity , I notice that lot of Apple retail stores have ready stock, but why there are still quite numbers of US buyers going for online order ? Better deal offered ?

Some of us want built to order. It can be difficult getting certain specs.

I could not find my BTO specs in a store. They did not have the 13" with 512 GB and 16 GB RAM. Not being able to get 16 GB RAM in a 13" was a deal breaker for me. I want something that's going to last me 5 years.

And it's shipped. According to UPS, should be here by Tuesday the 6th. One day ahead of the time window of delivery. Now it's on to play the "waiting, checking UPS tracking a few times a day - hoping that somehow it might move up a day or two, but most likely won't" game.

It irritates me greatly that the 2TB models aren't available, even through the business channel, you still have to order/wait a month to get them. They have a 1TB model, why not the two - a truly maxed out version?

Ordered maxed out 15" on 11/1. Barclay card was charged with "temporary authorization" on Monday morning. It's now been over 48 hours and I'm still showing "processing items." Haven't moved to "preparing for shipment" yet. Is this normal? Seems like some people who ordered later than me are moving into p4s.

Also, I selected ship to store but I'm not sure that matters.

I'd like to hear people's reasons for upgrading to the 2TB one for +$1200 though, it's way too big a jump in price to be worth it for me. I opted for the 1TB which is enough for internal. I already have like 20TB in externals as well as a 1TB Samsung SSD USB C external which was way cheaper for the extra TB if you don't mind carrying around a small external.

I have just received my late 2016 macbook pro, it came shipped with sierra but it wont let me downgrade to el capitan. When i try to boot my el capitan usb from the boot menu it appears but then gives me the no entry sign :-( can these new macbooks not be downgraded to an older version of OSX? I am using a usb c to usb converter as i dont have a stand alone usb c drive

If you have a Touch Bar version, how would you expect old software to run that new feature?

Why would you even want to downgrade when the newest software is appropriately optimized for your new machine?

Can someone confirm whether or not someone needs to be present to accept the package upon delivery?

They require a signature for delivery. Depending on your delivery service, you can pre-sign through the web sometimes. I know I can do that through the UPS site for packages.

This might be better directed somewhere else as this is more about a shipping thread than a howto thread. A more appropriate thread will probably lead you to better answers.

I ordered on 11/10 and have an estimate of Dec 19-23. I'm hoping for movement next week...maybe.
15"/i7/2.7/1TB/460

Ordered 13" BTO on November 2, went to P4S on Monday, but hasn't changed to shipped yet. I'm disappointed because I've seen other people with the same dates have their MBP's already shipped. Any thoughts why they didn't ship the whole batch at the same time?
