Went to Bestbuy, compared the 13 in to the 15 in to see if i should go small and save some money, but after using a 2015 pro for almost a year I decided to stick with 15 inch, was even able to get best buy to price match apples education discount on the $2799 model, got it for $2599 plus tax!

Been lurking on here and benefiting from all the info, so I thought I'd share my data point:
11/11: Ordered base 15" w/512Gb ssd upgrade, given 12/20-26 delivery window.
12/9: Preparing for shipment+card charged!

Seems like it ships the next day for most people, but will update when that happens.

Just got my shipment notification. It just got picked up in Shanghai and should be at its destination on the east coast of the US by 12/15. Meaning it'll be sitting at my parents place a full 5 days before I arrive there for holiday - more torture!
 
I ordered a Space Grey 15/512/460 at Nov 5th. Still no movement - order is processing. Delivery date is 12-16th Dec - unchanged since I ordered. In case it matters: I'm in Europe/Germany

You all can feel lucky who ordered later but are already in shipment status.
 
Apparently this config (512, 460) is the most popular according to an Apple advisor I spoke to. I ordered on 4/11 and nothing has budged on the order page, still processing.

You ordered on November 4 and still no movement? I was thinking of ordering the same machine — base 15" Touch Bar model plus the 512 GB upgrade plus the 460, in space gray — and the Apple Store says "2-3 weeks" for delivery.

I'm heading out of the country for a couple months after Christmas, but if the "2-3 weeks" isn't accurate, I'm in trouble. (Is it possible to order now and then cancel if it won't ship in time, or is that unavailable for custom builds?)

So mine finally shipped but the tracking number shows this:

There's no information about what the "exception" is anywhere on the page. Any idea what it means?

In FedEx terminology, an "exception" is a temporary delay during transit, which could mean something like a delayed or canceled flight or maybe a Customs issue. It often means a one-day delay in delivery, but if it was scheduled for the 15th, there's still plenty of time to make up for any lost time.
 
Mine is still stuck in processing even though my card was charged 2 days ago. Has anyone that's had their machine shipped to a store been surprised by it arriving even though the status never changed? Or do you get a shipping notification when it is being sent to the store?

My card was charged Thursday morning, still stuck in processing too.
I didn't want to pick it up in store, but shipping notification should be sent to you.
I spoke with Apple this morning and This is their response:

I just want to see some movement. Haha I'd even be Ok with PFS for a few days. We go out of town in 11 days and I need to get that machine set up and restore my old MBP for its new owners. Time is ticking away. ;)

I got my 2015 during the discover apple pay thing along with ed discount. Those were good times compared to this year's awful discounts. Then again, it's probably why I don't need much this year.

The last day of my estimates is 15th and they still believe its possible.
The dude also said that if they charged my card it means that they scanned my machine in the warehouse, but according to him- there is a small chance that my status will change over the weekend.

My card was charged 2 days ago as well and the charge has cleared (no longer pending) with no movement on the order page. I am getting slightly aggravated considering I am having it shipped to my office, which is an academic office so if it doesn't come before the 20th, then I am SOL until the new year. This is the first Apple product I have ever bought where there are so many negative vibes and this isn't helping. I'm hoping I won't be affected by the scratch issue, graphics issue, or the battery issue. We will see.

I'm counting on it being here BEFORE my pickup date as my pickup date is the day I leave. ARGH! I will hate life if I have to wait until January to pick up my machine.
 
Was the charge posted on your account? I seem to have been charged today, but it's not posted yet. Still on processing.
I was charged when I checked my account yesterday. Status page still shows processing. Maybe next week you and I might see a change.
