Hey y'all. Just ordered two USB c to USB a adapters on account of the price drop. $9 bucks you can't go wrong.
I ordered two as well!

People might have shorter wait times calling Apple.
I started a chat session while holding on the phone, and was holding for chat as well. About the time someone started on the chat, I had someone on the phone. So it was a tie for me. Probably about 5-7 minutes of waiting.

I placed my order on the 27th about an hour after the presentation but cancelled it because originally I had the 2.6GHz CPU in the 15". I remembered there were more differences between that one and the 2.7/2.9GHz CPU s besides just the clock speed so I re-ordered with the 2.7GHz CPU instead:
  • 2.7GHz Core i7
  • 16GB RAM
  • Radeon Pro 460
  • 512GB SSD

Hah! I did the exact same thing. Base model 15" originally and then cancelled and changed to exactly what you got the next day.

Tomorrow, I'm going to cancel my pre-order. After giving this a lot of careful thought, I cannot justify $3,700 on a laptop that will not carry me through 3 years. If 32 GB were available, I would not cancel my order.

Last call for any comments that might convince me to keep my pre-order...

Based on the MBP you have in your signature, I agree you could probably wait until the next model. The one you already have should still be good enough :)

I really appreciate the feedback. It helps reassure me that I'm making the right decision.

What pushed you guys to get the next model up?

I ordered the base, but with a 512GB SSD. The storage upgrade cost extra, but still a few hundred less than the 2.7GHz version. The GPU is of no importance to me, since I have other platforms to play games on, and I wasn't sure if the higher clock speed and larger cache were worth it.

The most demanding thing I'll use this for is music production, which my current MBP already handles without issue. If there's something I'm missing, I'd go for the 2.7.

It's a personal decision, I can't picture paying that much either. I'm excited to receive my 13 inch Pro as I have quite an immediate need for it, but I recognize that Apple is really testing the limits of what they can get away with. This fact isn't lost on them, so we'll see what the next model has in store - hopefully it's more in line with expectations

For me it was 33% larger cache on the CPU. Originally I thought the only difference was the clock speed which was marginal, but there should be a noticeable difference with the cache increase as well. And then with it only being an extra $100 for almost double the teraflops/RAM in the video card, why not when we're already spending this much.

If there is one thing I have learned in my time here on Mac Rumors no matter what Apple releases, even it has the best specs on everything people will still complain about it and say there is something wrong with it. I have come to expect from here is negativity about what Apple did when I come to the forums.

It just boggles my mind how there are those out there that look for the negative in everything.

I know people will flame me for saying this and tell me how they have a right to rip Apple apart because they are spending their money to buy a product and they are not wrong. But in the same token nobody is putting a gun to their head and forcing them to buy anything.

We just see so much negativity in the world daily it would be nice to read here and other places some positive comments once in awhile.

*Putting on my asbestos underwear* So flame on!

Not sure anyone here thinks a gun is being put to their head...

I'm all with you! (read my last 20 posts or so)

Have exactly the same feeling - but this is how internet works. it's sad that it is so easy these days to get people hyped over material things + negative emotions are easier to propagate in social media = and you get explosive combination.

Wait till we get threads like: "I received new MacBook and original box is full of fingerprints- should I return it?" - when thread will reach >200-300 posts it might convert into box-gate.

World is so ridiculous, complicated and fascinating!

I just joined this forum not long before. But I feel if the thread is about positive review or feedback, only few people will reply. If it's negative, people just flow in and reply, which makes that thread always be on the first page.

Well of course. Not everyone is going to like a product. There is always someone who won't like it. Every YouTube video has some downvotes, every Amazon product has some one-star reviews; that's just life.

This site is mostly made up of people who expect more from technology than the "average user"; most of them will probably never say anything negative about Apple. But people here are more critical.

Expensive

Which one would you recommend??

It's €50, providing a passthrough USB-C,
3 usb 3.1, hdmi and an SD car reader.
This is one pf the best deals I could find together with the Satechi one but on that one I am missing the hdmi port.

I do wonder if anybody knows about the quality of that company and what I should look for to make full use of the thunderbolt 3 ports

  • 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD1
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID

Delivers Nov 17 - Nov 24.

However, thinking about cancelling... but I need a new MBP, it's not really like I want it...

I plan on getting a 13 inch, but I'm not a very knowledgeable user. Which configuration would be better:

256 GB SSD
3.3 i7 processor
8GB

or

512 GB SSD
3.1 i5 processor
8GB

Thanks

Well, the answer to that question is dependent on what you are going to use the computer for and what your storage needs are. But of the two options, without knowing anything else, I would go with the larger SSD.

I ordered a few USB-C to USB connectors
The digital av one for HDMI
and the sd reader

All shipped in a few hours except the sd reader which said 3-4 weeks.

Got an email this morning saying it shipped. Lol
