You can choose to have your order delivered to your local UPS or FedEx facility or to their authorized receiving locations such as UPS Store or FedEx Kinkos, while your order is in transit (using their apps). The latter two options typically offer extended business hours for pickup.
You can ALSO pre-sign for delivery. Once it ships, the option will become available once the product ships. You fill out the form, sign it, stick it to your door (I suggest painters tape, it won't damage your door when the UPS/FedEX guy rips it off.) Of course, you'll want to make sure where you live is secure before you do so. You're absolving the carrier of any liability by doing so.
Often, you can CALL the local store too. For example, I can never get through to UPS's 1-800 number in any reasonable amount of time. But I call the phone number for the local distribution center, someone answers immediately, and they help! I don't know if everyone is that way, but mine have always been extremely helpful. Whether it's holding it at the distribution center (which is actually right around the corner, the nearest UPS store is 30 minutes away), or whatever. Once they even met me. I hadn't realized something was out for delivery already so I called. They said they'd call back after they called the driver. I was at work, and the UPS driver had said he didn't have time to switch delivery to my office but he'd be driving by X location in about 15 minutes and if I could sneak away, he'd just give it to me there; otherwise, I could get it the next day (the driver didn't plan to finish his route until well after the distribution center closed). So I went to the location (a restaurant), he pulled in as I pulled in, I walked up to the truck, he had my package (happened to be an iPhone) on his lap, handed it to me, waved and drove off!
USPS on the other hand... (I'm just hoping it doesn't ship USPS, that's all I'm gonna say about that...)

and yet it says Macbook Pro. Misleading.
The difference of capabilities on the 12" MacBook and 13" MacBook Pro AND 15" MacBook Pro is going to create a lot of confusion surrounding stuff. I've e-mailed a few companies that had products labeled "not compatible with the new MacBook" to ask if it'll work with the pro and their response was essentially "Maybe. We have no clue."
