... no as far as I know the earliest ship dates were the 14th and no ones shopping date has gotten changed in the positive direction. He could be talking about the non touchbar version which is why I asked.

Naa i remember he posted a couple of days ago when he phoned apple to see if there was faster shipping available and his TB version got moved from the 15th November to the 11th November......looks like its just re-corrected itself back down again.

There was one other person on the spreadsheet with the 11th....think it was a 13 inch TB version.

Thanks for shopping at the Apple Online Store.

Apple just lowered the price of model-C USB adapter to Gigabit Ethernet Belkin requested, so we changed the order amount.

The dongles thing seems overblown to me, but, I have to admit, this was extremely well done.

I was just at the Apple Store and there were many USB-C dongles 30 to 50% off, and the Dongle I ordered with my Macbook Pro, I received a $10 refund, from $19 to $10. So unfortunately the apple engineers business model is messed up until Apple raises the prices after the uproar calms down :)

Lowered in germany too but 3-4 months shipping. Happy eastern.

So basically a case of nothing to see here.

You can choose to have your order delivered to your local UPS or FedEx facility or to their authorized receiving locations such as UPS Store or FedEx Kinkos, while your order is in transit (using their apps). The latter two options typically offer extended business hours for pickup.

You can ALSO pre-sign for delivery. Once it ships, the option will become available once the product ships. You fill out the form, sign it, stick it to your door (I suggest painters tape, it won't damage your door when the UPS/FedEX guy rips it off.) Of course, you'll want to make sure where you live is secure before you do so. You're absolving the carrier of any liability by doing so.

Often, you can CALL the local store too. For example, I can never get through to UPS's 1-800 number in any reasonable amount of time. But I call the phone number for the local distribution center, someone answers immediately, and they help! I don't know if everyone is that way, but mine have always been extremely helpful. Whether it's holding it at the distribution center (which is actually right around the corner, the nearest UPS store is 30 minutes away), or whatever. Once they even met me. I hadn't realized something was out for delivery already so I called. They said they'd call back after they called the driver. I was at work, and the UPS driver had said he didn't have time to switch delivery to my office but he'd be driving by X location in about 15 minutes and if I could sneak away, he'd just give it to me there; otherwise, I could get it the next day (the driver didn't plan to finish his route until well after the distribution center closed). So I went to the location (a restaurant), he pulled in as I pulled in, I walked up to the truck, he had my package (happened to be an iPhone) on his lap, handed it to me, waved and drove off!

USPS on the other hand... (I'm just hoping it doesn't ship USPS, that's all I'm gonna say about that...)

and yet it says Macbook Pro. Misleading.

The difference of capabilities on the 12" MacBook and 13" MacBook Pro AND 15" MacBook Pro is going to create a lot of confusion surrounding stuff. I've e-mailed a few companies that had products labeled "not compatible with the new MacBook" to ask if it'll work with the pro and their response was essentially "Maybe. We have no clue."

Sorry for not being more clear. Yesterday, I said that I called in and they upgraded me to overnight shipping which changed my delivery date from the 11-15. Now it is the 15-22. It is for the 13" SG w/TB

Seems to confirm what some of us have been told; that anyone who upgraded your shipping did so in error, and that it'll be shipped using the fastest method no matter what.

Have any demos shown up at the Apple Stores yet?

Just the 13" non-touch models it seems. My local Apple Store said they may be getting some next week. However they do have the 13" non-touch in space grey; which is handy if you're on the fence about color. (I was, despite ordering space grey. Looks great though!)

My stock 15" is expected to be delivered on November 25th through December 2nd. I hope this ends up being like my iPhone 7 Plus and ship out way ahead of time.

I am currently using the 13" mid-2012 MacBook Pro with 4GB RAM running macOS Sierra.

I'm really hoping buying this new 15" was a wise decision.

In the 15" machine is the amount of L3 cache going to make a difference.

6MB L3 in the base 2.6GHz and 8MB in the higher end CPU models.

My iPhone 7 Plus, which I've been using for almost a month now, is STILL not "supposed" to be here (It was like November 11th-15th or something was the estimate). So yeah, I'm really hoping my MBP is the same way!

However, my iPhone was "stock" (as all iPhones are). The BTO part is the part that makes me nervous on the MBP.

You're current machine isn't even 3 years old. Save the money for next year tbqh.

I'm sorry if my sig is not clear, its a mid-2012 MBP and is now 4 years old. Truthfully, it my current MBP had 32 GB of RAM, I would be all set. That is the biggest slow down for me right now.

There are a lot of benefits though to the new MBP, for me that is. The wider color gamut is huge (for me) and I could definitely use the faster SSD versus the 1st-gen SSD in my current MBP (for editing very large video files). And more.

Thanks to everyone for all of the feedback. It confirmed what I was thinking. As an assignment-based photographer that relies on his MBP in the field 130-150 days a year, the new MBP w/ only 16 GB of RAM will not meet my needs for the next 3 years.

I just cancelled my order 2 minutes ago. Kind of a sad moment for me, but it's time to press forward with what I have. On the bright side, in 9-18 months I should be getting a much better MBP w/ 32 GB of RAM and I'm willing to wager that it will be a few hundred dollars cheaper too. Also, by that time, the USB-C peripheral market should be more robust as well.

Best of luck to all of you with new MBPs on the way...I'm stoked for you! I look forward to seeing your pics and hearing about your experiences.

Cheers!

Yes. The specs are a bit confusing because the "numbers" seem similar. But the 15" is a significantly more powerful machine in every sense and in every way. Far faster CPU, monumentally faster graphics, and faster I/O (4x TB3 vs 2x TB3 + 2x USB-C w/ TB2 speeds). It's not really the bigger screen size your buying.

It may be a longer wait than that. Kaby Lake doesn't support more than 16GB of LPDDR3 either nor does it support LPDDR4. Apple is almost certainly going to continue to use low-energy RAM, so you may have to wait for Cannonlake equipped MBP's (Cannonlake CPU's won't even be out until perhaps early 2018) for 32GB to be available.

I'm genuinely curious; what's your workflow like that saturates 16GB? A few have posted screenshots in some threads but were surprised to find out that they actually had tons of free RAM ("Cache" / Inactive RAM is also "free" and available to applications, for example. It's just that macOS doesn't usually purge files from RAM when they are no longer in USE, so they are left in that 'Inactive' lump.) It just seems tough, to me, to saturate 16GB even with intense photo or video editing. But I'm not a professional, which is why I'm so fascinated by just how much horsepower these pro's need. Some, I think, think they do but don't; but some surely do and must be doing some really cool stuff!

Thanks for clearing that up. I guess there's nothing indicating we should get them early just yet. Was yours BTO or a stock modle?

This. I do this every time; safe/easy. UPS is good as you can pick it up very early. Fedex Kinkos is good, as there are so many of them, and some of them are open 24/7

I don't know how true this is. But I just called apple and the lady said the ship times are so far out because they are making the laptops as the orders come in. They do not have a stack of them ready to ship like they did with the iPhone 7's. So that's probably why there are no demos or reviews out on it. My ship date is December 9th-15th. She said it may come sooner but it will come no later then December 15th. Just food for thought for everyone worrying about there ship times and what not.

Yeah, all bets are on a Fall 2018 refresh before we see 32 GB ram option. Would be cool to have it now for those that truly needs it and don't care so much for long battery usage, but oh well....

I forked a disgusting 3.5k Swiss francs for a 15" upgraded with the best processor, the 460, and 512Gb (don't really even need that much, but fine). And a USB-A dongle. The Ethernet adapter was listed as being available in 3-4 months so I didn't bother. Apparently I'll get the laptop just before Christmas. I wonder if my existing USB-A Apple Ethernet dongle will work in the USB-A to USB-C dongle. Ordered cancelled in light of the problems people have with the 460 and the 15" UI lag.

Now for my Christmas present, I'm quite excited to get a Zenwatch 3. Not sure about the color though ;)

I'm not expert, but everyone is talking about 2017 MacBook Pro's as a given, and I just don't see it. Mac refreshes have been happening slower and slower. In large part because the technology isn't expanding as fast. I don't think a two year refresh cycle is out of the question.

It's apple, we'll never know for sure, they might refresh them next week. Nevertheless... I think you're on the right track. Fall 2018. We might see 13" models refreshed with Kaby Lake for the GPU performance bump. Not sure Apple will bother with them on the 15", but perhaps. A move to Kaby Lake should slightly improve battery life as well. But that won't add support for more RAM nor any meaningful upgrade in performance. If for no other reason that Apple's hubris, we won't see a regressive model next year that runs DDR4 instead of LPDDR3 to support 32GB of RAM.

USB-C to USB-A dongles provide full USB. Your ethernet USB adapter will work just fine.

What differences are you referring to? What relevance will they have in real-world performance?

In terms of real world performance I'm not sure, but in multithreaded applications that can take advantage of it, it should speed up performance a bit. The 2.7/2.9GHz chips have 8MB of cache compared to 6MB for the 2.6GHz model. Those 2 also have the following features that the 2.6GHz chip does not: Intel vPro Technology, TSX-NI instruction set and Intel Stable Image Platform Program. You can compare them here:
