Tomorrow, I'm going to cancel my pre-order. After giving this a lot of careful thought, I cannot justify $3,700 on a laptop that will not carry me through 3 years. If 32 GB were available, I would not cancel my order.

Last call for any comments that might convince me to keep my pre-order...
You're current machine isn't even 3 years old. Save the money for next year tbqh.

Rumor has it the 8th is when they should be hitting the stores. If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if some people get them by the end of next week.

Where did you hear that? Earlier in this thread someone said that a CS rep told them that they will begin shipping on the 10th

Why does Apple makes us wait 2-3 weeks instead of making the announcement 3 weeks after and have packages ship the same day they announce ?
Because they focus a lot on their product and forget these small things ( Shipping, Announcement etc) and one more reason is your not the CEO of Apple .!!!

Not sure anyone here thinks a gun is being put to their head...

I wasn't referring to just this thread but other threads on here as well. Most of the people here (there are a few negative people here too) are excited about the new MacBook Pro. There are plenty of negative threads on here. And it was not meant literally just pointing out nobody is being forced to buy anything.

RE: The Satechi adapters. I wonder if the ones that don't provide enough wattage will still charge it anyway? For example, owners of the 12" MacBook have reported that plugging it into the USB Port of another computer; while the laptop reports "not charging", over time, it goes up. Likewise, plugging an iPad into an iPhone adapter says "Plugged In, Not Charging", but if you leave it overnight, it'll be at 100%.

For my uses, fast charging is unnecessary. If I have it plugged in at my desk it's usually at the end of the day, so I won't be going "on the go" again. So as long as the battery doesn't go DOWN, I'm golden.

Marketing is probably one reason. Create demand.

Another is Apple's secrecy. If these things are rolling down the line, sitting in stores, etc., then they are far more likely to leak.

Apple actually does this much much better than most companies. It's not unusual for companies to announce in the fall a product they'll be shipping in the spring; or to give incremental updates over the period of a year or more. Apple announces the full and complete finished product and has them available pretty quickly. The 13" non-touchbar models were available essentially that day.

What would be the logical reason behind a review embargo on the MBP?

Negative reviews?

That's actually not at all Apple Specific and is extremely common. Lots of companies do this. I'm sure marketing and sales experts have figured out how early reviews impact sales; and I would estimate that good or bad, it has a negative impact. Otherwise they wouldn't.

Seems like a pointless compromise, though. Why not just plug the cable into one of the other three ports and charge the computer properly?

Availability of ports mostly. You've only got four. In my case, two displays and a RAID array take up three. Meaning I either need to daisy chain something; the only option there would be to daisy chain a USB/SD hub behind the RAID array. 1) I'm not sure that would even work, and 2) it would cause a sacrifice in speed somewhere down the line. But if the hub is able to feed power back, at least enough to keep the machine going, then I only have four devices to plug into my four ports, instead of five to figure out how to fit into four.

Moot if the new MacBook Pro's support MST which I can't seem to find anything definitive on. If it does; then I can daisy chain the two Dell displays. But some are saying the new Mac won't. If that's the case, then they'll need two ports.

The new TB3 Belkin dock will charge the MBP with 85W so that one should work just fine for your use-case.

Just an update, I was the one that got an updated delivery date with overnight shipping of November 11. This morning, that was updated to the 15th.

What do you mean your expected shipping of the touchbar model went from the 11 to the 15th?

Didn't you just answer it by yourself?

... no as far as I know the earliest ship dates were the 14th and no ones shopping date has gotten changed in the positive direction. He could be talking about the non touchbar version which is why I asked.

all you goldStar apple peeps with your nose pressed against the front door glass;
KEEP IN MIND LIKELY YOU WILL HAVE TO BE THERE IN PERSON TO SIGN OFF ON THE DELIVERY else it will go through a UPS / FedEx re-delivery cycle or two.

that is why you should have had it delivered to the brick & mortar apple store near you.
Keeping local American shopping malls great... again.
You can choose to have your order delivered to your local UPS or FedEx facility or to their authorized receiving locations such as UPS Store or FedEx Kinkos, while your order is in transit (using their apps). The latter two options typically offer extended business hours for pickup.
