Question to anyone who might know based on similar cases from the past
Now in the UK the waiting time is 4-5 weeks
can I assume that if I just wait and order in 4-5 weeks the shipping will be pretty much right away or there will be a further waiting period?
I wouldn't expect them to be readily available until long after the holidays.

I could no longer wait and finally ordered a MBP 15" last night. Actually I intended to wait until I see first reviews, especially as I wanted to see the difference of the CPUs. My current MBP is still a 13" mid 2010 which I upgraded to 8GB about 1 year ago but I definitely need a faster machine.

I decided to go for the 15" space grey 16GB 512GB 460 with 2,6GHz.
Estimated delivery is Dec 12-16th... I'm located in Germany. It will seem to take forever. The good thing is that I have plenty of time to cancel my order in case the CPU may not be the I really want, once seeing the first reviews.

Curious to hear all your first impressions in the next couple of weeks!

@Boris Lee had an early delivery bracket if you look closely. Also he seems to be shipping to Hong Kong, so it's a given he will be one of the earliest to ship.

He has an earlier bracket because it has less far to go. It shouldn't mean it leaves the factory sooner.

He has the earliest bracket because he was one of the first to order, combined with the fact that it doesn't have far to go. As it's most likely not going to go overseas, there's less paperwork involved. So technically, it could leave the factory sooner.

I ordered within 15 minutes of the keynote ending. No changes here, still processing.

(Getting shipped to NE USA)

I was one of the first to order too and have the same shipping estimate of 2-3 weeks. That is the indicator of when it will leave the factory, not the delivery date. His delivery estimate is earlier because it's only going to Hong Kong. Certainly his could leave the factory sooner, but what is more likely is that all the 2-3 weekers will go out in one big shipment.

It wouldn't make sense to ship the items with the least distance to travel first. The opposite makes more sense.

I'm not terribly convinced by his screenshot.

I agree, I asked him for the screen shot with order details showing, right after he first posted and he never provided the one with order details. I think he is trolling.

He might be telling the truth.. but always suspect when someone registers today and makes claims no else has seen ;)

Has anyone seen cases for these new MBPs? Usually get a thin plastic one to avoid scratches but haven't seen any available yet.

Uhm, are you guys sure that they would work on a Sunday to start packing and shipping? I would assume that they will wait to Monday?
Where I work here in Denmark the production is running 24/7. So I assume that they are doing the same thing in at the massive factories in China :)

I am also in Hong Kong, ordered within 5min of the store being up and my status is still processing.

I do have BTO 16gb ram and 1tb SSD though.

Alright, thank you for that info Kimcha.
I don't expect the order status to change for anyone today. I'm going back to reading my book.

Which is exactly what I just said. If he is correct then it is the former - that is, leaving the factory earlier. Not sure what you're trying to say, considering if he ordered early and his shipment won't be going over seas, it will be faster - his estimated date started from the 14th.

Even if he is trolling, it should not matter. Everyone will get their order when they do - with patience. Personally, I don't see the incentive in trolling with this.
