Hey guys,

Quick update from the Apple Flagship store in NYC. They had the 15" in the protected glass case but the 13" is not on display as they said the other display case was cracked.

I spent some time with the manager chatting about the new MBP:

  • He was adamant the display versions are production versions, not prototypes. He said the employees have been playing with them after hours and they're full-functioning.
  • They're not anticipating the ability to have in-store available inventory until late January or early February. They're encouraging everyone to order online. They're currently expecting orders placed in-store now to arrive in the first two weeks of December.
  • He said for any orders that were placed in the immediate days after the Keynote, the shipping times will hold true or arrive more quickly by 3-10 days.
  • He said there's no difference to Apple on newly released products for ground v. 2-3 day shipping: it's all the same.
  • I told him my estimated delivery of December 7th and he said he would expect it by end of November.

Just passing the word along as I type this in the store on the non-TB 13".... feels pretty nice actually.

So sad to hear (read) this.
So my chances in purchasing a MBP with Touch Bar while I visit NYC in November went from crossed fingers promising to none existent.

So sorry I didn't purchase one right after the Keynote... :(

Why is in-store pickup so certain about the date?
Processing Items Pick up: Ships to store. Available 25 Nov, 2016
This is how it works:

If you order online and select delivery, it will give an estimated delivery date. In your case, it would have been 17-24 November.

If you choose ship to store, Apple doesn't give you a range. Instead they take the latest delivery estimate, in this case the 24th, and add a day, so the 25th.

In reality, it will probably arrive earlier. If the people who opted for delivery in the same shipping group get theirs on the 20th, for example, then the store will receive yours on the 20th as well. The 25th is just a worst-case estimate. :)

My estimated delivery date is between 25 nov to 2 dec. can I expect it delivers on the second week from today around 20 nov?

God help me, I'm kinda panicking. I will have to sell my current MB in a couple days, and I can't possibly be without a computer until 15 Dec (current delivery estimate). Please tell me this info might actually be wrong.

It's there!!!! Preparing for Shipment!

PS: ordered 2 minutes after launch, shipping to Macau

My expected delivery date is Nov 23-30... Not sure if i'll get my Macbook Pro before Nov 23.. :(

What do you guys think? :p

I just spent 11 minutes chatting with a representative to change my shipping method to pick-up, but he said he was not able to change it but gave me a lot of suggestions. Then, he asked if I'm a student and my major. AND THEN he updated my shipping method to 2-3 business day without additional charge.

now it says Delivers 22 Nov, 2016 - 30 Nov, 2016 by 2-3 Business Days.:D:D:D

Wow, I'm having a hard time believing that. So according to the guy, nobody is gonna be able to walk into an apple store and buy a TB MBP before January or February? What happens, then? Apple puts new macbooks on display that no-one can buy? They're gonna be like - "place the order online or wait until January"?

Where have you been? They've done that repeatedly for many products over the last few years. Heck, in the old days they'd have iPhones on display and no chance of actually getting one in the store.

It looks like all you guys who ordered the Touch Bar version of the 13" are now getting "Preparing for shipment". Now, Apple (or Foxconn), if you would just start shipping the 15" version :p

This order was placed on October 28. Most likely, it's for a non touch bar MBP.
The order above is the touch bar order. The non-touch bar orders have the macbook without the touch bar in the photo. The macbook in his photo has the touch bar and is therefore a touch bar model.
